{"id":28807,"date":"2008-03-27T01:01:01","date_gmt":"2011-05-19T04:05:15","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-05-19T04:05:15","modified_gmt":"2011-05-19T04:05:15","slug":"george_mcgovern_fears_72_redux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/admin.rushlimbaugh.com\/daily\/2008\/03\/27\/george_mcgovern_fears_72_redux\/","title":{"rendered":"George McGovern Fears \u201972 Redux"},"content":{"rendered":"<section>\n<p>RUSH: Yesterday afternoon, at Greensboro, North Carolina, at a campaign event, Barack Obama said this about his former pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.<\/p>\n<p>OBAMA: This is somebody who was preachin\u2019 three sermons, at least a week for 30 years and got boiled down, they found five or six of his most offensive statements, boiled that down into a half an hour sound clip &#8212; or a &#8212; a &#8212; a half-minute sound clip, and just played it over and over and over again, partly because it &#8212; it &#8212; it &#8212; it spoke to the racial divisions that we have in this country and it tapped into some of those divisions. I &#8212; I hope people don\u2019t get distracted by that. We cannot sooolve the problems of America if every time somebody somewhere says something stupid, that everybody gets up in arms and we forget about the war in Iraq or we forget about the economy. <\/p>\n<p>(playing of Obama apology spoof) <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125114.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" class=\"alignright\"\/>RUSH: George McGovern, 1972, Democrat presidential nominee. By the way, many people on the Democrat side are fearful, ladies and gentlemen, that they\u2019re heading to another 1972 here, given the impact of Operation Chaos. He was on MSNBC Live with Andrea Mitchell yesterday, who asked him this question: &#8216;Why do you think the country\u2019s not yet ready to vote for a woman as president? You said that the other day. Why is that?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>MCGOVERN: I do think that the country right now is more likely to nominate a black man than a woman. I may be wrong about that. I\u2019m supporting Hillary, but I have the highest regards for Barack Obama, and I\u2019ll be happy with whichever one wins the nomination. I don\u2019t want to see these two highly talented people hurt each other in this race for the nomination. That happened to me in \u201972. Even after I had the nomination virtually locked up, with just a month to go to the convention, the losing candidates all ganged up and really did a job on me that we never recovered from. I don\u2019t want to see that kind of thing happen.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Yeah, well, we do, and we are in the process of attempting to see to it that it does happen via Operation Chaos. George McGovern is admitting and confirming to Andrea Mitchell why the country &#8212; and, by the way, I don\u2019t think it has anything to do with the country &#8216;not being ready\u2019 to elect a woman.
