{"id":28702,"date":"2008-03-17T01:01:01","date_gmt":"2011-05-19T04:05:37","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-05-19T04:05:37","modified_gmt":"2011-05-19T04:05:37","slug":"democrats_won_t_pull_iraq_troops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/admin.rushlimbaugh.com\/daily\/2008\/03\/17\/democrats_won_t_pull_iraq_troops\/","title":{"rendered":"Democrats Won\u2019t Pull Iraq Troops"},"content":{"rendered":"<section>\n<p>RUSH: Mrs. Clinton, by the way, this morning at George Washington University delivered a speech on Iraq, and I want you to hear a portion of what she said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125113.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"386\" class=\"alignright\"\/>HILLARY: It is time to end this war as quickly and responsibly as possible. Senator Obama tells voters that, as president, he\u2019d withdraw combat brigades from Iraq within 16 months. But one of his top foreign policy advisors told a different story. She told a British television reporter, and I quote, &#8216;He will, of course, not rely on some plan that he\u2019s crafted as a presidential candidate or a US Senator.\u2019 Senator Obama has said often that words matter. I strongly agree. But giving speeches alone won\u2019t end the war, and making campaign promises you might not keep certainly won\u2019t end it. In the end, the true test is not the speeches a president delivers; it\u2019s whether the president delivers on the speeches.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: This is surprising to me. This is pretty tame. Her energy level is nonexistent. I realize she\u2019s probably had a big weekend and it\u2019s Monday morning and so forth, but not only that, she\u2019s not telling the truth. It\u2019s amazing how everybody but me has seemed to have forgotten this, except for Carolyn Lochhead, from the San Francisco Chronicle. Headline from today\u2019s San Francisco Chronicle: &#8221;Even if Dems Win, Total Iraq Exit Uncertain\u2019 &#8212; Still, when asked in New Hampshire if they would promise to have all US troops out by the end of their first term, Obama and Clinton both refused.\u2019 And so did the Breck Girl. I remember that New Hampshire debate. They were asked to pledge that after the first four years of their presidency, that the troops would be out of Iraq, and neither Obama nor Hillary would pledge that. I\u2019ve known all along, these people are not going to pull our troops out of there, and they\u2019re not going to saddle themselves and their party with defeat in Iraq. They\u2019re just not going to do it. I\u2019ve never had any doubt about this. Besides that, I know how they\u2019re going to do it. Hillary or Obama, they get in there, and after two weeks, two weeks after the inauguration, their listeners, voters, supporters, wackos in the fringe kook base, &#8216;What about Iraq? You said we\u2019re going to get us out of Iraq!\u2019 They\u2019ll say, &#8216;We didn\u2019t know what we were really encountering here. The Bush administration kept so much from us. Until we got here, we were unaware of how deeply involved we are, and a withdrawal now would be the worst thing we could do.\u2019 They\u2019ll blame it on Bush for not being forthcoming and honest, which will be another lie.
