RUSH: This is Christian in Detroit. You\u2019re on the Rush Limbaugh program. It\u2019s nice to have you here, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Mr. Rush Limbaugh. Melting pot (unintelligible) president. Got time to unveil character over candidate and talk to me in Detroit, man? How you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very well, sir. I\u2019m glad you called.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, well, I have a statement and maybe a question. You know, people in Detroit go to work on Monday, and they get paid on Friday. You know, people say Barack has no experience. Neither did George Washington, but he\u2019s the first. Did you ever find it strange, moving over to Hillary making it to the David Letterman show, and when Eli Manning won the Super Bowl, his plane was postponed in fear of him soaking up any type of fanfare? It makes sense, the scandals with athletes make sense. Seeing a black man running, it\u2019s no wonder why that — it\u2019s not why they catch stuff, it\u2019s when they want to catch them. I couldn\u2019t imagine if all these athletes were still playing and Barack were running, the intensity that we need, it\u2019s necessary. When they claim, gee, Hillary stole items before leaving the White House, I knew she would run, lose, and steal delegates, as you said earlier, this is what got me to call. And against who, I didn\u2019t know at the time, and now I know, I understand. But I share your conscience freelance thinking, you know, only to endorse logic for profit, man, and I\u2019m gonna listen to this off the air, and I hope I\u2019m welcome to call again.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, well, what —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I had to get ready for you. I had to. I wrote things down, and I got ready for you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That was very, very well articulated. I\u2019m just —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m a writer, I\u2019m not paid for it, but I\u2019ve —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m still stuck. What is Eli Manning being late for the Letterman show have to do with Hillary stealing knives and forks from the White House?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I hear you all the time how Hillary will do anything to soak up fanfare. If Eli and Hillary were to be on the Letterman show the same night, and Eli Manning\u2019s plane was postponed and Hillary made it, maybe she was from another city, but I believe the power — I do not underestimate a fruit fly. The DNA in a fruit fly is more than a human being, I believe. So I don\u2019t underestimate her at all. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Did you just call Hillary a fruit fly?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. No. I said, I don\u2019t underestimate a fruit fly, meaning I would not underestimate Hillary. She\u2019s much bigger than a fruit fly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, the DNA — a fruit fly\u2019s got more DNA than Hillary does. That\u2019s what I thought you said.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I said a fruit fly has more DNA than a human being does.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you basically saying that it\u2019s necessary for Barack Obama to run?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Very necessary.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why? Let\u2019s cut to the chase here. It means something personal to you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I would have to say it means something personal to me, and I can speak for a lot of people, and you have me on that, because it is personal. The reason why is because when you grow up and see someone on TV that looks just like you, forget about the jargon —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, I —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — it\u2019s self-explanatory. It means something. You may say, no, Christian, it doesn\u2019t mean that. Well, you can vote for the lesser of two evils, meaning, you know, Bush or Gore, and still live within the confines of your skin color.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I\u2019m not racist —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Time-out there, time-out there, Christian, now that my broadcast skills and talents have whittled this down to its essence —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — I gotta take a commercial break. Can you hang on? I have two specific questions for you based on the fact that you said —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I hope I can answer them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, you\u2019ll be able to answer \u2019em. Don\u2019t rely on hope.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, back at it, get another stab here on the EIB Network, to Christian in Detroit, Michigan. So we have ascertained here that you think it\u2019s necessary for Barack Obama to run because, as you said, it feels good, it\u2019s about time that there is somebody running for president who looks like you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir. I\u2019m not looking for a placebo president. It feels good, though.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. All right. Let\u2019s try to stay away here from the three-dollar words like placebo. It\u2019s only going to confuse the people in Rio Linda who take the real stuff.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I understand.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. So I\u2019m assuming if it\u2019s necessary that Barack runs because he looks like you, then there\u2019s a racial component to this, which I understand. Are you suggesting that until this happens, this country will not have climbed a mountain? In other words, we will not have ended racism?<\/p>\n

CALLER: At least a minority aspect of it. All else is well, Rush, all else is well.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Then let me ask you this, if Obama loses the nomination, if Mrs. Clinton, the domineering, abused woman of the ex-president, and let\u2019s say he gets the number of delegates but she steals this at the convention, and you wanted a guy running because you like somebody that looks like you, and the Democrat Party has been the home, the ostensible home for black advancement and emancipation, and if Mrs. Clinton somehow steals this victory from Obama, what will your reaction be?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, people will just have to do what we\u2019ve done for 232 years —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Stick with the Democrats, okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We\u2019ll last.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, you aren\u2019t going to — now, come on, Christian, you\u2019re not going to laugh. <\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I\u2019m not saying we\u2019ll laugh, we\u2019ll stay alive, we\u2019ll last, we\u2019ll do what we\u2019ve been doing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, last, last. Here\u2019s the whole point. You\u2019re going to stick with the people who have just taken away from you something that you said that you need to see. By the way, who is it that\u2019s trying to squash the black guy? Who is it that\u2019s trying to cement the black guy with a cement swimsuit and throw him down in Lake Erie?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019re right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s the Democrat Party that\u2019s trying to do this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019re right, you\u2019re right, I agree. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Good. See, it didn\u2019t take any hope to answer that question.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, one thing to your last caller in Tennessee —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — five words below hope is hophead, playing for drug addict. And why is there more definitions for rush than there is for hope? <\/p>\n

RUSH: No, hophead is not the root word of hope. Look, another question. If Obama —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Not a root word, just sarcasm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m being very patient here. Let\u2019s try to stay on subject.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: If Obama wins the nomination —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — but loses the presidency, what will you think of your country?<\/p>\n

CALLER: With no prejudice? In all that I know, all that we know, I would not be upset. Your show will still be on–<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Final question. Obama wins the nomination, wins the presidency. Are we finished with racism in this country? Can we finally say we\u2019ve overcome, it\u2019s behind us, we have dealt with it, it doesn\u2019t exist? Because the people in this country, of which only 13% are black, will have elected a black man president, can we say, Christian, that racism is behind us?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m not trying to —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I certainly hope that you are wrong about that. Then, Christian, hear me on this, my friend. If Obama wins, and it\u2019s not going to change anything in the racial equation, then this business about it being necessary for him to run because there\u2019s somebody that looks like you is meaningless. It absolutely doesn\u2019t mean a thing. <\/p>\n

CALLER: How you doing, Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just wanted to comment on when you said Michelle Obama and the whole separation of church and state. Well, we can look back to several things on the Republicans. I wrote this down just like the other guy said. On June 10, 2000, Bush wanted Jesus — he declared Jesus day in the state of Texas. Then on June 3rd, he told the Palestinian president, God sent me here, God told me to protect the Palestinian state. And then the evangelical Christians —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second. Wait a second. If Bush had said that, it would still be front-page headlines.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no. Look — Google it. The Guardian of UK —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Chris, my only point with Michelle Obama saying this country\u2019s lost its soul or doesn\u2019t have a soul or is going to get its soul back, if Bush had said that, I\u2019m telling you, you would hear from the separation-of-church-and-state crowd. When Michelle Obama says that you don\u2019t hear from them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, we hear all the time about the evangelical Christians that pretty much run the Republican Party. How is that not a separation of church and state? Pat Robertson, when he was alive, how about all these preachers down South.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah?<\/p>\n

RUSH: When did Pat Robertson die? What did I miss?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry about that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Was he on the trip to the Palestinians with Bush?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no. I\u2019m telling you the evangelical Christians, that\u2019s all we hear about, they go after their vote. How did the Republican Party get the Southern men to vote because they could never win it? George Wallace in the sixties, after Nixon.<\/p>\n

RUSH: A Democrat! All those guys were Democrats. Play the Obama commercial. Do something. I\u2019m about to explode here.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, I realize, ladies and gentlemen, I can read my e-mail, and I realize many of you are frustrated at the calls we are taking today, knowing full well we have our choice. We can refuse anybody because we get voluminous numbers of calls here. ‘Rush, are you doing this on purpose? Why are you wasting such time with people?\u2019 Well, there\u2019s any number of definitions of a caller making the host look good. But I think there\u2019s also a phenomenon going on out there, ladies and gentlemen. You need to understand, there\u2019s an inverse relationship happening, and it\u2019s very simple. The better Barack Obama does in the polls, the worse the caliber of calls that we get. It\u2019s not racial. It\u2019s across the spectrum. All of these amateurs who are filled with hope are now getting motivated to get involved. They\u2019re getting inspired to use their hope. These are the people that are investing all of their hope, everything else in Obama, and they have no idea what they think. Well, they think they think things but you can\u2019t make heads nor tails out of it, and they\u2019re very passionate about nothing, just like Obama. Nothing is being transferred and nothing is calling the radio show, and this is a truth test. You people should sit there and marvel at what\u2019s happening here. <\/p>\n

This is a genuine illustration of my highly trained broadcast skills and talent. No, I\u2019m not calling the callers fruit flies. The caller called Hillary a fruit fly and compared a fruit fly\u2019s DNA to Hillary\u2019s. You got amateurs getting involved, that\u2019s who Obama is attracting, people that have not paid much attention to politics, and we\u2019re hearing the — I\u2019m trying to be nice here — we are hearing the vacancy that exists that is disguised as passion, but for what? We do everything we can to make heads and tails out of this, some sense out of it, but this is, to me, I love these kinds of calls because they are illustrative, they are challenging, and they are actually a lot of fun. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
