RUSH: We\u2019re gonna start with Heather in Blacksburg, Virginia. Glad you waited, and welcome to the program, Heather.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Thanks for all you do. I\u2019m so excited about all the recent wins we\u2019ve been experiencing, you know, the Supreme Court rulings and the economy and it\u2019s great to be on this winning way. But I don\u2019t mean to throw cold water on the excitement of it all, but I keep thinking about Mark Warner\u2019s comments when he was in Martha\u2019s Vineyard drinking his wine, saying that, boy, buckle up, \u2019cause there\u2019s something coming with the Mueller probe. And I don\u2019t think Warner would have commented about it in that way if it weren\u2019t something that was going to be negative against Trump and positive for the Democrats.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve heard from a few people who have the same concern, that here in the midst of this streak of good things happening, that Mark Warner\u2019s out there alluding — and even without Warner, that Mueller himself is out there, and he\u2019s got his 13 assassins largely from the Enron task force, and these guys have been documented to play fast and loose with Justice Department rules. It is no doubt that Mueller is there to get Trump. So your point is well taken.<\/p>\n

\"\"I ran across — I told you I was looking at things earlier at the TheHill.com, and one of them I saw, it was a peripheral piece. I did not find this in my usual roster of show prep items. I found this on an obscure Google page, and I\u2019ve not seen this anywhere other than on the actual Hill website. It\u2019s an opinion piece. I didn\u2019t get the name of the writer. I\u2019ve never heard of him before, it doesn\u2019t matter, but he is a former federal prosecutor.<\/p>\n

And his piece is headlined: “Prepare to be Disappointed with Russia Investigation Conclusion.”<\/a> Now there\u2019s a reason why that\u2019s not been widespread. That\u2019s not what anybody on the Democrat side and the media wants to hear. But at the same time, there is a story at Doomberg News, and the headline: “Mueller Poised to Zero In on Trump-Russia Collusion Allegations.” Let me read to you from the second one.<\/p>\n

“Special Counsel Robert Mueller is preparing to accelerate his probe into possible collusion between Donald Trump\u2019s presidential campaign and Russians who sought to interfere in the 2016 election, according to a person familiar with the investigation.” Anonymous person. Poised to zero in on Russian collusion? What has Mueller been doing for the last year?<\/p>\n

The way this is written, it\u2019s designed to make you think that it\u2019s imminent, Mueller\u2019s got something, he\u2019s coming out with it. But the way this is written isn\u2019t news. There\u2019s nothing new here. “Preparing to accelerate his probe”? Accelerate it? Into possible collusion? According to a person familiar?<\/p>\n

“Mueller and his team of prosecutors and investigators have an eye toward producing conclusions — and possible indictments — related to collusion by fall, said the person, who asked not to be identified.”<\/p>\n

What is fall? Like late October, right before the elections? So there\u2019s that. And then this other piece, “Prepare to be Disappointed with Russia Investigation Conclusion,” is about two things. It\u2019s about the veritable impossibility of getting rid of a president by virtue of this investigation leading to something like impeachment or indictment. And it also alludes to the fact that whatever Mueller concludes is gonna let a whole lot of people down. So what have we learned from this? Net zero.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, one thing about Mark Warner, and I\u2019ve been telling people that have emailed me, “Rush, I\u2019m really worried about what Warner said. I mean, he wouldn\u2019t say that even if he was drinking wine, he wouldn\u2019t say that unless there\u2019s something.” Don\u2019t be so sure. Remember where was he? He\u2019s in Martha\u2019s Vineyard. What was going on? It was at a donor event. Donors are people who give money. Politicians want them to keep giving money.<\/p>\n

\"\"Donors to the Democrat Party are waiting for Robert Mueller to send Donald Trump packing. One of the primary reasons donors are giving money to Democrats is they believe that it\u2019s gonna help get rid of Trump. So Mark Warner almost has to say something to these people to keep them interested or give them some kind of hope so that they will keep giving to the DNC.<\/p>\n

Remember, he\u2019s not raising money for himself here. This is the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee. They have one in the House, and the Republicans have them. And the leadership of that group rotates every election. It\u2019s Warner\u2019s turn to head up the Democrat effort to elect Democrats to the Senate. So this was a group of people donating to elect Senate Democrats. His job is to raise more money than his predecessor, and so he\u2019s gotta give them hope.<\/p>\n

\"\"And to run around and to essentially say, “I\u2019ve been talking to my buddy, Bob Mueller, and there\u2019s a couple things that only Bob and I know.” This is perfect donor BS. This is the kind of stuff these guys tell donors. They want the donors to think that they\u2019re listening to somebody on the deep inside, that they\u2019re getting intel and information that nobody else is getting because of the money that they\u2019re giving. And so Warner came through. “I was talking to Bob. There\u2019s a couple things only Bob and I know. You better buckle up. This is gonna be a hot and heavy next two months.”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s gonna be a hot and heavy two months regardless what Mueller does, or has, or says. So he\u2019s gonna be right about that. But look, it remains possible that he did talk to Mueller and that Mueller told him something and that he\u2019s running around mouthing off about it. It\u2019s a bit of a stretch. A lot of people believe that if Mueller had anything at all that proved collusion between Trump and the Russians, that it would have leaked long ago, like most everything else has.<\/p>\n

Again, these two stories, Doomberg News: “Mueller Poised to Zero In on Trump-Russia Collusion Allegations.” Not evidence. This could have been written the first day Mueller took office. The first day Mueller was sworn in, looking at the same headline: “Mueller Poised to Zero In on Trump-Russia Collusion Allegations.” So this is a headline designed to please Hill.com readers who are expecting these people at The Hill to have inside dope on what\u2019s gonna happen here.<\/p>\n

And then the other piece of the TheHill.com: “Prepare to be Disappointed with Russia Investigation Conclusion.” Let me just read the beginning of this one. “For those hoping the conclusion of the Russia probe will finally help put the controversial 2016 election behind us, prepare to be disappointed. Nobody beyond special counsel Robert Mueller\u2019s team knows exactly what evidence has been found that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.<\/p>\n

\"\"“We may learn there was no indication that President Trump personally did anything illegal. Or Mueller may lay out rock solid proof of a criminal conspiracy or other violations that causes a chain reaction leading to the downfall of the Trump administration. However, based on what we know to date, the most likely outcome will be something frustratingly in between. Barring a major deviation from Justice Department policy.”<\/p>\n

Well, this whole investigation is a major deviation from Justice Department policy. This investigation should not even be happening. It is in total violation of Justice Department guidelines, as you know by now. Special counsels are given a specific crime to investigate. Mueller was not. He was given an accusation, allegation to pursue.<\/p>\n

“Barring a major deviation from Justice Department policy,” which traces back to 1973, “Trump will not be indicted.” Nobody can pretend to know what Mueller is gonna do. But the safest way, I think, if you want to spend time guessing, is to realize that Mueller is there to get rid of Trump. Mueller is there to damage Trump. Mueller is there to make it possible for Trump to be dispatched.<\/p>\n

Now, if he doesn\u2019t come up with any evidence that would force an impeachment — the Democrats have to win the House for that to happen in the first place. And even if that happens, folks, I can almost guarantee you there are never gonna be 67 votes in the Senate to confirm. The Democrats are not gonna win that many seats even if they retake the Senate. It isn\u2019t gonna happen.<\/p>\n

Do you realize that in all of American history, no president has ever been convicted of impeachment charges, meaning there has never been a two-thirds vote in the Senate to remove a president. He always resigns before it gets to that point, but even if it got to that point, it isn\u2019t going to happen. This has always been about — here I go on the broken record — driving Trump\u2019s public approval numbers down so low that he loses all support and has to go. And they thought they\u2019d be able to do that in six months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
