RUSH: There\u2019s a story here, “Democrats Turn to Hollywood for Messaging Help.<\/a>” This is a godsend. This could not be any better for us. And to kick this off, Robert De Niro.<\/p>\n

Now, De Niro, no denying in the case of people who know, is a great actor. I don\u2019t know enough to say who\u2019s doing the best job of acting. I appreciate talent; don\u2019t misunderstand. But the people who are in the business of knowing this claim he\u2019s a great actor. But I think maybe “was” is more accurate than “is.” Which happens to everybody in that business after a certain age.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But we all know what De Niro did on Sunday night at the Tonys<\/a>. He basically hijacked \u2019em. And in the process, he did something very selfish. What is the Tony Awards? Well, it\u2019s the one night a year where the people in that business — the theater business in New York — which is a declining business, by the way — it\u2019s the one night a year where they get national acclaim and attention and where their excellent performers are singled out by peers for awards for various aspects of performance in the previous theater season.<\/p>\n

And nobody, because of what De Niro did, nobody has any idea who won anything. Robert De Niro, because of his two F-bombs aimed at President Trump went in there and very selfishly hijacked that night and turned it into something for his personal political preferences. And the Democrats want to turn to people like that for messaging help?<\/p>\n

You know what else De Niro\u2019s done? Snerdley told me today that, “Hey, did you hear De Niro apologized?” No, I didn\u2019t hear De Niro apologized. “Yeah, he went to Canada, and he apologized to the Canadians for Trump.” I said, “Did he actually go there, did he go to Canada?” So De Niro doubles down. He went to Canada to apologize to Canadians for the unseemly behavior of our president and in the same process he is selfishly hijacking whatever other events or things are going on and forcing all of this attention to be focused on him.<\/p>\n

Now, this story in The Politico, “Democrats Turn to Hollywood for Messaging Help — The Democratic National Committee and members of Congress are turning to Hollywood for help with voter turnout and messaging ahead of the midterm elections and 2020 presidential campaign, quietly consulting with a group of actors, writers and producers,” in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The chairman of the Democrat National Committee, Tom Perez, who is a genuine left-wing radical wacko. “Tom Perez, several House members and other top elected officials have already met with the group,” of Hollywood experts, “formed by members of the entertainment industry in the wake of the 2016 election, that participants liken to a TV writers\u2019 room, complete with producers of such programs as ‘Veep.\u2019 The existence of the group and details of the meetings have not been previously reported. … Participants declined to identify the senator or other elected officials who have visited.”<\/p>\n

Now, if I\u2019m not mistaken, hasn\u2019t Hollywood already done this? Doesn\u2019t Hollywood do this every year? Didn\u2019t Hollywood run some objective here to convince Electoral College voters to not vote the way they were supposed to? Don\u2019t they already do ads for various Democrat candidates? Don\u2019t the George Clooneys of the world donate and star in commercials for Democrat candidates?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Why are they considered experts? Because they played presidents on TV? Because they play vice presidents on TV? Because they play chief of staff on TV? Because they played political consultants on TV or in the movies? These are people whose movies are bombing out! These are people that don\u2019t even care. Writers and actors don\u2019t even care about whether the audience — well, not correct to say they don\u2019t care, but their bottom line is often not tied to attendance at the box office. Some of them it is, but most of them get their money up front and how the movie performs is somebody else\u2019s problem.<\/p>\n

Hollywood actors and actresses are noted for not having any concern or any kind of a bond to their audiences, because they wouldn\u2019t deign to. They wouldn\u2019t socialize with audiences. They wouldn\u2019t party with them. They\u2019re royalty. The audiences are way down there. These people don\u2019t know how to reach out and make contact with average Americans. By definition, they\u2019re not supposed to. These are stars. They\u2019re supposed to be on a pedestal way above any of us able to reach them. That\u2019s how they\u2019re spun.<\/p>\n

Hollywood makes stars out of people. And when they make a star out of somebody, if that person becomes a star, they\u2019re on a pedestal, and they\u2019re untouchable, they\u2019re unreachable. They create a mystique about them. You don\u2019t see them. The big ones are not on social media interacting with their fans like athletes and stuff do. They remain far removed. They don\u2019t answer fan mail. Gods do not answer mail, is the ongoing strategy.<\/p>\n

So what could go right about this? Democrats are getting political message ideas from actors who have played politicians in movies. I remember all those ads they did for Hillary.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Karen in Atlanta as we head back to the phones. I\u2019m glad you waited. How are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m good. How are you, Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Fine. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you so much. I just want to say mega dittos to the man who protects my sanity. But you said not too long ago how the liberal and the press and everybody had taken off their masks. My liberal friends are seeing it. They\u2019re calling me. And I am just so ecstatic. The more they say, the more stupider they sound.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is something that I talked about a little bit yesterday. And, frankly, I\u2019ve been talking about it for as long as this program has been going on. We\u2019re gonna 30 years in August this summer, and all during this 30 years, Karen, the left to me has taken our cultural down and down and down to the sewer and below. And for all of these years I have been waiting, I have been hoping that at some point the mass population would reach their saturation point and simply refuse to reward this kind of behavior or thinking.<\/p>\n

And I\u2019ve been disappointed because now look at the words you can use on TV, the things you can describe with actual verbiage. You can use, you know, like cable TV, use anything, but, you know, I would never use the word that begins with a P to describe urination, but it\u2019s common. It\u2019s common on talk radio now, it\u2019s common on prime time TV, and all this time you have thought and hoped that this disintegration would finally bottom out, but it hasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

So we come to De Niro and his F-bombs on stage at the Tony Awards on Monday. I told Snerdley and I\u2019ve told a lot of people, I said, “Folks, I think that we\u2019ve reached a point where average Americans are gonna be repulsed by this, and it\u2019s gonna be identified as Democratic, progressive, and leftist. And it\u2019s all gonna end up hurting.” And you\u2019re saying here that you now have liberal friends who\u2019ve reached their limit with this, that these assaults on Trump are actually creating sympathy for him?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Because, like, when Samantha Bee came out with the C-word, which women should never call another woman that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, exactly, I\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Samantha C.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That whole episode, my girlfriend is so liberal, she called me ranting, she goes, “I cannot believe that. They\u2019re supposed to be for women, all women. But they\u2019re not.” And I\u2019ve always told her that. But now she sees it, and she is appalled because that word, you don\u2019t ever call any woman that. You just don\u2019t do it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You really never have?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No! My mother raised me right. (laughing).<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) All of us guys wonder how women really talk when we\u2019re not around. That\u2019s the only reason I ask.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Women do not use that word, even in locker room talk. No. Women do not.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, she sure as heck did, and she did it publicly on TV. So you think this kind of stuff — you\u2019re actually not bothered by it now because you think in the long run it\u2019s gonna end up what brings more people to Trump; why? Is it gonna not make people feel sorry for him, but what\u2019s it gonna make people realize?<\/p>\n

CALLER: What they\u2019re saying is they\u2019re accusing Republicans of their actions because now their actions are coming out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They\u2019ve always accused Republicans for talking this way about people, you know, how we\u2019re bigoted, we\u2019re homophobic and everything.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s also irrational and unhinged. I mean, some of this stuff that they\u2019re saying is literally insane. It literally is incoherent, some of these criticisms of Trump and Republicans in general.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s disgusting!<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: Well, I hope you\u2019re right. I hope it is causing some —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, believe me. I\u2019m out here in the real world —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, what —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — tax cuts —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re getting calls from your liberal buddies. But would these same people you\u2019re hearing from you think vote for Trump the next time just because of this?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Interesting. All right. What part of Atlanta do you live in?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m in Sandy Springs.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a little bit north of Buckhead.<\/p>\n
