CALLER:\u00a0 Hi!\u00a0 Great!\u00a0 Hi, Rush Limbaugh.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been listening to you on KFBK out here since \u201980s, so long enough to know that you are a good judge of music.\u00a0 And I am calling to request a music recommendation.\u00a0 But first, a confession of my own artistic ignorance.\u00a0 I had no idea that Kanye West was such a thoughtful person — and I love thoughtful music! I love thoughtful poetry.\u00a0 One of my favorite albums of all time is The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and now I want to check out Kanye.\u00a0 I\u2019d like to purchase a song or an album, and I know he\u2019s made a lot of music, and I don\u2019t know where to start, and I was wondering if you had a recommendation for a particularly thoughtful song or album that would be a good one for me to start with.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Okay. And then may I…? While I give you time, may I make another comment about the correspondents dinner —<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Sure!<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 — and the #MeToo movement?<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Have at it.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 It\u2019s your call.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 So I found it very interesting that at the correspondents dinner, it was a female who so vulgarly harassed Sarah Sanders<\/a>. And I find that so interesting because I\u2019m a Millennial. I\u2019m on the upper age spectrum on Millennials, so I\u2019ve had enough time to get a taste of the professional world. I\u2019ve experienced a good deal of sexual harassment from men. But hands down, no contest, it has been women who have given me the most harassment and made professional life the most miserable for me.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Can you describe for me…? What form does the harassment from women take place?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>CALLER:\u00a0 Well, there\u2019s a couple of things.\u00a0 One is a constant suggestion that they make that because I have a good working relationship with some of my male colleagues, that it\u2019s because of the way I look or that it might be because some of some sexual component.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Uh-huh.\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 I\u2019m not surprised by any of this, Robbie.\u00a0 None of it.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Yeah.\u00a0 So totally, totally degrading my professional skills, my mind.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 They\u2019re basically… They\u2019re accusing you of sleeping with these people, and that\u2019s why you\u2019re doing well, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 And then also discriminating against me for the way I look, and it has constantly been women that have caused me to want —<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 — to change how I\u2019m going to dress —<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 — or wear my hair at an interview or going to work, choosing to not wear makeup, choosing to dress a little frumpier —<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 — things where I just don\u2019t want it to get in the way of my professional success. So, yeah, it\u2019s not been fun. They\u2019ve been savage.\u00a0 They\u2019ve just tried to destroy me, tear my down.\u00a0 Without fail, it\u2019s been men who have championed me professionally, told me I could do things I didn\u2019t think I could do as a woman, and I have not had that support from other females.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Yeah.\u00a0 None of this is either a surprise or even news to me.\u00a0 The fact that women can be vicious to one another is something that\u2019s not often discussed because the current climate is focused on the mean-spiritedness and evilness of men.\u00a0 But believe me, I have seen it.\u00a0 I have seen the viciousness.\u00a0 I have seen it and it is mean.\u00a0 There have been movies about it, Mean Girls, for example.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm!<\/p>\n

RUSH: I have seen it.\u00a0 I once observed long ago… If you\u2019ve been listening to this program since the late \u201980s on KFBK, whether you remember it or not, you have heard me share an observation.\u00a0 You know, you\u2019re walking down the street, you look across the street, and you see an attractive woman.\u00a0 You\u2019re a guy; you see an attractive woman.\u00a0 You stare; you can\u2019t help it.\u00a0 It\u2019s nature.<\/p>\n

What you don\u2019t see is other women staring daggers at her for daring to be dressed the way she is in public or whatever. You don\u2019t see that because you\u2019re not looking.\u00a0 But it can be vicious out there, and especially in an interoffice complex arrangement where there is a ladder of success everybody\u2019s trying to climb.\u00a0 So I have seen it. Obviously, not being a woman, I haven\u2019t experienced it. But I\u2019ve seen it, and I know how vicious it can be.\u00a0 You\u2019ve had to actually modify the way you dress just to reduce the kind of —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m a little hesitant to admit this because I did it for strategic reasons, but I wonder if it was compromising integrity. But I have chosen to wear 10-year-old shoes to an interview. I\u2019ve chosen to put my hair in a bun for an interview when I knew I was going —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, with another woman, was it a woman?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You didn\u2019t want to appear threatening or challenging in any area where she might have felt superior to you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Because in my opinion, generally true about women, is they don\u2019t want another woman in the room that they feel might outshine them in any way.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m not gonna divulge anything of course, but I know exactly, I know exactly what you\u2019re saying, Robbie. I have seen it. I\u2019ve not been a victim of it, obviously. We men have our own problems in this regard, and they\u2019re the same. They manifest themselves in different ways, but we have the same problems. I once got fired. I was working for a pathological liar, and I couldn\u2019t handle it anymore. I felt like my intelligence was being insulted. I called this guy, “Would you stop bragging about this stuff that didn\u2019t happen? You don\u2019t know this person, you didn\u2019t work there.”<\/p>\n

And I got home in 30 minutes and the owner of the radio station was on the phone firing me because the guy, he happened to be my boss, he had called the owner of the station and said, “This guy is really off the rails.” But I couldn\u2019t handle it, I just couldn\u2019t. Pathological lying is something I do not deal with well. I do now, I know how to look the other way and forget it, but back then it was one of the pet peeves. We all have various pet appeases. That was one of mine. But look. Keep your radio on, we\u2019ll have a couple Kanye suggestions here for you before the program ends \u2019cause we got a Kanye expert here.<\/p>\n

Robbie, the first thing I want you to try, it\u2019s explicit, it\u2019s got the little E by the title meaning explicit lyrics, but given your experience working with other women and what you\u2019ve had to do to accommodate mistreatment there, I don\u2019t think this will be a problem for you. Gold Digger would be a good tune to start with, with Kanye.<\/p>\n
