RUSH: I was talking to Mr. Snerdley — the official call screener, Bo Snerdley — during the break here at the top of the hour, and I said, ‘Mr. Snerdley, I\u2019m curious. Yesterday you had one wacko liberal after another on the phone, and today there are none. Are you just screening \u2019em out?\u2019<\/p>\n

He said, ‘No. I\u2019m not hearing from them.\u2019<\/p>\n

I got to thinking about that. I said, ‘Well, there\u2019s probably a very good reason for this.\u2019 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure that many of the anti-war libs and the Democrats today are walking around with heads hung low. Many of them probably called in sick, those that work. After last night\u2019s debate, you would have to expect the anti-war libs to be truly dejected. Let me describe for you what has happened to them. Make this about you. You have a date to the prom with the woman of your dreams. You love this woman, and this woman has accepted your invitation and pretty much said that she wants to do whatever is necessary to make you happy. So you go to the prom and you\u2019re all excited and can\u2019t wait for what\u2019s to follow the prom because she made the reservation at the hotel. So you go through the prom and you go to the various things that happen at the prom, and you\u2019re building with uncontrollable, near-orgasmic excitement as this relationship blossoms and evolves — and the prom comes to an end and it\u2019s time to go to hotel, where she made the reservation, and when you get there, you find out she has canceled the reservation, and you look around, you\u2019re at the front desk, you look around, and you see her walk in with your worst enemy. George W. Bush and Hillary Clinton are heading up to another room that she made reservations for, dumping you!<\/p>\n

This is how they feel. Now, why did I say Hillary and George Bush? Because of my suggested list of possibilities for why all these Democrats make me look like a genius last night: They said that they\u2019re not going to pull any troops out there before 2013. Remember the little ditty that we had earlier this week about Bush advising Democrats to be careful? Through back channels, behind your back. George W. Bush — Satan personified in your world, George W. Bush — is in back-channel talks with not just Hillary, but all the other Democrat presidential candidates, and saying (paraphrased), ‘Look, I understand you gotta be political here, but one of you may end up sitting where I\u2019m sitting and you\u2019re going to have a whole different worldview, and I\u2019m just asking you — I\u2019m just advising you — do not lock yourself into positions in this campaign that you\u2019re not going to be able to maintain once you sit where I\u2019m sitting,\u2019 and don\u2019t think that the rejected libs out there don\u2019t remember that. Now their world has fallen in on them. Mrs. Clinton has effectively told them that they are pond scum and that she was leading them on from the get-go; that she never intended to get into that hotel room with them after the prom. She was already huddling with George W. Bush. <\/p>\n

Do you anti-war leftists understand what happened here last night? George W. Bush is now in charge of the Democrat presidential candidates\u2019 Iraq war strategy, and the worst thing about this is that Bill Clinton doesn\u2019t care that any of this is happening because it opens up his world even more. He\u2019s been seen with his own dates, who are not canceling the reservation. So I understand that you are just dejected: heads hung low; knuckles may be scraping the sidewalk as you go to the Starbucks today, and I want to help, because I have known this day was coming, and I have tried to warn you. I\u2019ve only been trying to help you libs, and what do I get for it? Some of you called me yesterday, called me a liar. You insult me. I\u2019m used to it. I can handle it. It\u2019s a badge of honor when you do, but you\u2019re human beings and you\u2019re Americans, and I want to help you. If those of you who no doubt feel the way I have described today — and I know you do. The sellout that you got last night is major. This is likely to be among the most hurtful, harmful heartbreaks of your life — including your first puppy love that told you to take a hike. It\u2019s not enough just to ‘put some ice on\u2019 this, which is the usual Democrat operative\u2019s advice to abused people: ‘Just put some ice on that. It\u2019s swelling up.\u2019 You have been abused. You\u2019ve been used. You\u2019ve been robbed. You gave these people your money, your hard-earned money, and how did it end up? <\/p>\n

George W. Bush is advising your candidates on their Iraq war policy. I\u2019m here to help. If any of you libs want to call here and discuss this, I can get you through this. I\u2019m a great counselor. I know you all love therapy, and I can do it. I would love to help out. We\u2019re all in this together. I\u2019ve not been hurt like you have been hurt and I\u2019ve not been abused like you have been abused, and I\u2019ve not been rejected like you have been rejected — and it happened in one night! You got an inkling of it on Sunday with Mrs. Clinton, but you refused to believe it, because you had these high hopes and high expectations. You thought, ‘Maybe Mrs. Clinton is just navigating through a little minefield here,\u2019 but last night Mrs. Clinton not only confirmed what she said on Sunday, all the other top-tier Democrats did as well. The only Democrats that said they wouldn\u2019t keep troops there are schlubs that don\u2019t have a prayer of lasting after the first primary (and some will get out even before that). So… (sigh) I hate seeing people in pain, but what you must understand, you Democrats and you liberals, is that your feelings are yours, and you need not grant anyone else the power to destroy your feelings or hurt your feelings. And that\u2019s what you\u2019ve done here, by investing so much in these Democrats who I told you all along were lying to you and misrepresenting what they said, just to keep you from protesting at their rallies and just to keep you giving them money. I make this offer in total compassion, sincerity, and seriousness. If any of you libs are dejected and want to seriously talk about this and try to take the next step towards recovery, I, Rush Limbaugh, am here to help. <\/p>\n

RUSH: So typical, it\u2019s so typical. So I get this note from my North Carolina mistress. Even mistresses try to take over, and control you, and tell you what you\u2019re doing wrong, and so forth. They know that these Democrats are such whores that they\u2019re going to end up in their room eventually when they need to get there.\u2019 (laughing) Let\u2019s see if we can bear that out. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I just am not buying it. I think you\u2019re trying to muddy the waters by putting everybody in the same tent, and thereby eliminating the referendum of the voters in \u201906 in saying we want outta here.<\/p>\n

RUSH: One of the things I always counsel people, Bill, is to deal in the moment and to deal with reality. It\u2019s time to throw the \u201906 election results out because whatever they meant has not mattered. If indeed the election results in \u201906 were to get us out of Iraq, has it transpired? The reality, Bill, is that every Democrat candidate that has a legitimate chance of winning the White House just confirmed last night that they will not pull troops out of Iraq before 2013; they will not commit to doing that. That\u2019s the reality you have to deal with. I\u2019m not muddying any waters. I\u2019m clarifying them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I would have to go back and look at what everyone said. It would be responsible, however, if they said, we\u2019re not going to make promises this early.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You can\u2019t do the what-ifs. You want to listen to what they said?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Mike, grab sound bites one, two, and three. Let me grab my page one, two, and three, my sound bite roster so I can follow along. You and I, Bill, will listen to this. Don\u2019t forget Mrs. Clinton said on Sunday in a much larger answer that she wouldn\u2019t pull out because she doesn\u2019t know what she\u2019s going to find there, there\u2019s no way she can commit to this. Now, here\u2019s Obama. Question from Russert. ‘Will you pledge by January 2013, the end of your first term, more than five years from now, there will be no US troops in Iraq?\u2019<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I think it\u2019s hard to project four years from now. And I think it would be irresponsible. We don\u2019t know what contingency will be out there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, how do you interpret that, Bill?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I call that noncommittal with a capital N. I think that he doesn\u2019t want to alienate any potential voters who might be on the fence right now. That\u2019s just smart politics.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I think the North Carolina mistress is right. You are not hearing what is being said. We\u2019ve had Obama promising to get out. We\u2019ve had these people promising to get the troops out, and then, all of a sudden last night, they\u2019re noncommittal.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you\u2019re avoiding what I see as the ‘blow-back,\u2019 if you want to use a word for it, for the elections coming up, is the people are war-weary — that\u2019s a fact. If you look at any of the polls —<\/p>\n

RUSH: See, but Bill —<\/p>\n

CALLER: People want us out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s the point, people want us out, but they\u2019re not going to say they\u2019re going to come out. They\u2019re saying just the opposite of what they have been saying. This is the point. They had a chance last night to mirror the American people, as you point out in the polls. What did they do? They sound like George W. Bush. They sound like Republicans on the war. Here\u2019s Hillary. ‘Senator Clinton, you have said that you will not pledge to have all troops out by the end of your first term, 2013, why not?\u2019<\/p>\n

HILLARY: It is very difficult to know what we\u2019re going to be inheriting. You know, we do not know, walking into the White House in January 2009 what we\u2019re going to find.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Bill, I want you to listen to her from this past Sunday on Stephanopoulos show. It\u2019s a little longer answer. It\u2019s basically the same question.<\/p>\n

HILLARY: You know, I\u2019m not going to get into hypotheticals and make pledges, because I don\u2019t know what I\u2019m going to inherit, George. I don\u2019t know, and neither do any of us know, what will be the situation in the region; how much more aggressive will Iran have become; what will be happening in the Middle East; how much more of an influence will the chaos in Iraq have been in terms of what\u2019s going on in the greater region. Will we have pushed Al-Qaeda in Iraq out of their strongholds with our new partnership with some of the tribal sheiks, or will they have regrouped and retrenched?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, when you listen to this, especially that bite, you could be listening to George W. Bush. The point is they are changing their position.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, ‘regroup and retrench\u2019 for me does confirm the existence of a quagmire over there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let\u2019s listen to Senator Edwards. The question from Tim Russert: ‘Senator Edwards, will you commit that at the end of your first term in 2013, all US troops will be out of Iraq?\u2019<\/p>\n

EDWARDS: I cannot make that commitment.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Cannot make that commitment.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, let\u2019s say it\u2019s smart politics, but I think for you to put everyone under the same tent is, you know, grab my enemy by the belt and there\u2019s no difference between the Republicans and the Democrats then is what you\u2019re saying?<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: No. It\u2019s not what I\u2019m saying. What I\u2019m trying to say is you have been abused; you\u2019ve been sold out; you\u2019ve been used. These people have just kicked you out. If you want to get out of Iraq, they ain\u2019t going to do it. Not when they\u2019re in the White House. I\u2019m going to tell you why, Bill. They are not going to saddle themselves with defeat. I think, Bill, you need more professional help than I can provide because you are suffering from Battered Liberal Syndrome. You are in denial right now, and this is a risky, risky place. You want Mrs. Clinton back; you want these people back even though they continually beat you up. They treat you like dirt, and you don\u2019t see it, time after time. Listen to you. You are equivocating, ‘Why, it sounds like it\u2019s a quagmire, exactly like they\u2019ve been saying.\u2019 It\u2019s a serious problem, and you\u2019re not in the moment; you\u2019re not dealing with reality; you are in denial. I could probably help you if I had more time, but I simply don\u2019t. I\u2019m glad you called, and I wish you all the best. But get started on this. Do not wait. It\u2019s oftentimes the victims of this kind of abuse who are the last to know, and I\u2019m trying to help you here get started. You need to do this quickly. The country is depending on you and others like you, to deal with this head on, in a manner of speaking. <\/p>\n

For example, I\u2019m far worse on Hillary Clinton than you. I think she\u2019s evil. I think she\u2019s truly an evil person. I didn\u2019t vote for Kerry. I don\u2019t like Bush. She didn\u2019t even say that, Hillary didn\u2019t even say that. 2013? What\u2019s he smoking? Is he back in the Harvard days? It\u2019s beyond me. I\u2019m so distraught here that I might have to go with Ron Paul or throw my vote away on, what\u2019s his name from Mexico, Richardson.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I\u2019m just assessing. I\u2019m diagnosing here the circumstance. You sound like you\u2019ve been battered around by these people, too.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You have a greater awareness of having been battered than the previous caller. Two battered liberals in a row. He just got through talking about all these libs that he feels sold out by, and is still considering one, Bill Richardson. I\u2019ll tell you, all you libs, you cannot solve a problem, and you definitely have one, you cannot solve one without doing two things first: A, focusing on yourself, and B, admitting you have the problem. If you\u2019re going to stay in denial about how you are being used, abused, and railroaded by your candidates, you are going to continue to be misled. You\u2019re going to end up broke because you\u2019re going to keep sending them money; you\u2019re going to end up abused; and you\u2019re going to end up so bitter that life will not be worth living to you anymore, unless you get a handle on this. <\/p>\n

You keep this up, and you are going to destroy every element of humanity in you, or you\u2019re going to allow them to, because your life — already spent in rage — is never going to get a break from that, and you\u2019re going to never, ever, trust anybody.
