RUSH: Mrs. Clinton got the next question from Bill Maher. ‘Senator Clinton, all the Senators here except Senator Obama voted for the Iraq war resolution in 2002 saying their decision was based on intelligence they believed to be accurate at the time. In other words, George Bush fooled you. Why should Americans vote for somebody who can be fooled by George Bush?\u2019<\/p>\n

HILLARY: (Cackling). Well, Bill, it was a little more complicated than that. I sought out expert opinions from a wide variety of sources, people inside and outside the government, people in my husband\u2019s administration, and I think it is fair to say that at the time I made it very clear I was against a preemptive war. And I believed that giving the president authority to go back to the United Nations and put in inspectors was an appropriate designation of authority.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s just at variance with the truth, folks. The use-of-force resolution did not say anything about bombing the United Nations. That is just disingenuous. And how about that cackle? You know, if I were Bill Maher, that cackle, she did not want that question. She\u2019s the smartest woman in the world. Now, we\u2019ve got all these sound bites here. HILLARY: I doubt it. I can support the president. I can support an action against Saddam Hussein because I think it\u2019s in the long-term interests of our national security.<\/p>\n

HILLARY: In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n
