CALLER: Hello, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thanks for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019re brilliant, and you\u2019re my hero.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you so much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My comment is on the report by General Petraeus to the Senate, which I watched on CNN. After it was over, I was switching channels to get some feedback, and I happened to catch Anderson Cooper on CNN —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: — taking General Petraeus\u2019s report point by point and challenging each one with a video clip and report from a reporter in that area. I. Was. Furious. First of all, for them to challenge a four-star general is appalling to me, and, for what reasons, if not for political ones?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I didn\u2019t see this, but I know it\u2019s infuriating. This is what they do. Everybody in a Republican administration is a liar. You have to understand: that was the narrative this week, as far as the Democrats and the Drive-By Media are concerned, Mary. Petraeus was a liar, and Bush made him lie. Bush was making him a puppet, and so their whole modus operandi was not to listen to what he had to say for any reason other than to try to find some video, for some of their ‘correspondents\u2019 to provide out-of-context reports to indicate that the Democrats on the committees who were saying that Petraeus is lying, are right. But it didn\u2019t work. The polling numbers in the Wall Street Journal, NBC poll, the number of people supporting the surge continues to climb. The president\u2019s approval number is flat at 30% in this poll. But that didn\u2019t work. Look, there\u2019s a reason why CNN is sitting there sucking air at the bottom of the list of cable news channels. Well, they go back and forth with PMSNBC. I understand your frustration. It wasn\u2019t just at CNN. We have a montage here of Chris Matthews on Hardball last night. His assessment of the Petraeus hearings….<\/p>\n

MATTHEWS: Petraeus and Crocker, this whole dog and pony show… <\/p>\n

MATTHEWS: I\u2019m watching this dog and pony show…. <\/p>\n

MATTHEWS: What do you make of the pony? You\u2019re speaking well of the dog. What about the pony?<\/p>\n

MATTHEWS: It really is a dog and pony show. <\/p>\n

MATTHEWS: The hypocrisy and the dog and pony show… <\/p>\n

MATTHEWS: The Petraeus dog and pony show…<\/p>\n

RUSH: Not one of those is repeated. That\u2019s Chris Matthews on Hardball last night referring to a decorated, four-star general in full dress as a ‘dog and pony show.\u2019 Look it, folks, there\u2019s an alliance — you know it; I know it – between Democrats and the media, and it is to fulfill and project and advance a specific agenda. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Bob in Grovetown, Georgia, who is now on his cell phone. Bob, welcome back to the EIB Network.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You got it? Can you hear me now?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I hear you much better now. You\u2019re a Swift Boat Veteran for Truth?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I\u2019ll tell you how it happened. I joined later. I wasn\u2019t a member, a regular member when he wrote the book, when John O\u2019Neill wrote the book. I only got involved when my kids told me I should get involved. After all these Democrats were saying about how the guy is lying and all didn\u2019t happen, they weren\u2019t lying.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s what got me out of the Democratic Party. I was a Democrat. And then what also got me to join the swift boat guys, because they all know me —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait. You left the Democrat Party when they started attacking John O\u2019Neill about his book?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, because they lied about it. See, I was on the 43 boat, on Kerry\u2019s operation, most of his operations.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What boat was he on?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Ninety-four boat.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How far away from him would that have put you in the formation?<\/p>\n

CALLER: When one of his — got the guy in the water, he was right in front of me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you saw it. Did you meet Kerry?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I knew the guy. I didn\u2019t know his name, but I knew the boat and all. He did a lot of stupid things, I know that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, apparently so. He\u2019s never refuted anything. They keep complaining about all the complaints, or all the charges, but they never refuted any of them. Anyway, I don\u2019t want to relive that. You\u2019re calling for some other reason about that. I know you just identified yourself as a swift boat veteran. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What was the reason you called?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Petraeus, about the general. I didn\u2019t like the idea of what they were doing to the guy. I mean, they pull this stuff all the time. I get a little tired of it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ll bet especially when you heard Kerry commenting on it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, that even made it worse. He\u2019s no one to comment. Comment on anything.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m glad we stuck with you. You know, most shows, bad phone line, would have said, ‘Hey, it\u2019s not your fault,\u2019 even though it was, and we just did, ‘the phone call is not working,\u2019 but we endeavored to get back in touch with you, Bob, and congratulations on using a cell phone. They\u2019re really amazing. It sounds much better. Bob, if you don\u2019t mind my asking. I shouldn\u2019t do this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Where did you get your portable wireless phone there? Not the cell phone.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Verizon.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, not the cell phone, the one that we couldn\u2019t hear.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh. At Wal-Mart, I think.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wal-Mart.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Either Wal-Mart or Sam\u2019s Club, same thing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wal-Mart or Sam\u2019s Club. Yeah, that\u2019s six of one and half dozen of the other. Well, that\u2019s not the best phone for you. If you\u2019re going to call us back here on the EIB Network. <\/p>\n
