Obama actually is the cherry on the top of all of this today, folks. Obama is… (laughing) In fact, I\u2019ve even been thinking of names for his new show on Netflix, “The Man From A.L.I.N.S.K.Y.,” instead of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. That kind of thing. We\u2019ll get to that in due course. But it\u2019s time get back to the phones, because Open Line Friday, only had one call. It was a good one. We hope for the next to be good as well.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you for having me. I had a conversation with my 19-year-old college junior stepson this morning and, you know, you\u2019re talking about rolling back the clock, turning back time. I said to him, “This is what men in this country used to do: Get things done!” That\u2019s how I grew up. I\u2019m of that generation. You know, my grandfather was in World War II and all that. “They got things done. They didn\u2019t talk at problems. They rolled their sleeves up and went to work.”<\/p>\n
And since the election of Donald Trump, that\u2019s what\u2019s happening. And I think it\u2019s amazing; I think it\u2019s wonderful for any of us who are raising sons to say, “Look, you may not… You know, we may not want you to just, you know, get in your face with people and whatever. But at the end of the day, it\u2019s about what you do, not what you say. You know, it\u2019s leadership by doing, not by talking,” and I do say men.<\/p>\n
But I have no doubt that somebody like Sarah Palin or Nikki Haley, they would have the same skills, fine. This is American tradition of exceptional leadership. This is what we do. And, you know, I\u2019ve been wanting to see this to you since the day after the election — and I\u2019ll never forget Wolf Blitzer\u2019s face, by the way — that for the first time in eight years, I\u2019m proud of my country. That\u2019s it. Thank you.<\/p>\n
RUSH: (laughing) Let\u2019s see. You have a 19-year-old stepson —<\/p>\n
CALLER: I do.<\/p>\n
RUSH: — and you have a grandfather, did you say, that was in World War II?<\/p>\n
CALLER: That would be the generation, yes, sir.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So you were how are you?<\/p>\n
CALLER: I am 62.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Sixty-two.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n
RUSH: All right. What did your 19-year-old son say? What was his reaction when you made your point to him that this…?<\/p>\n
CALLER: You gotta know him. He\u2019s a young man of few words, and he just gave me a smile and he gave me a thumbs-up and he knows exactly what I\u2019m talking about.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, why did you…? Now, hold a minute. Don\u2019t misunderstand me here. I try to understand. You painted a picture for me here. I can see you two guys here. Why did you feel the need to tell him, “This is how it used to be in this country, Son”?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Because he\u2019s in college, and he… Now, he\u2019s pretty good. But, you know, he\u2019s around all of this crap all the time and all of this political correctness. He doesn\u2019t buy in. You know, he loves girls. Sorry out there! You know, he loves girls. He\u2019s a college scholarship baseball player. He\u2019s a deer hunter, you know. You know, I don\u2019t need to convince him. I don\u2019t need to. But he\u2019s out there, and he can stand up and say, “Look, you know, this is the deal, we can talk about it, we can roll up our sleeves and get something done.”<\/p>\n
RUSH: That\u2019s great. As I say, I wasn\u2019t suggesting that you had to tell him. My dad told me things that I got and understood, and I still appreciated it because it affirmed for me, made me confident — and it was also educational. I mean, my dad, when he was 60 and I was whatever knew a lot more than I did. So I was more than willing to listen. But, no. I\u2019m glad you did. I\u2019m more interested in how he accepted it if he smiled it moved on. Look, you did everything you can do and it\u2019s a great point to make. If you listen to Oprah… You know, Gayle King talking about why Oprah needs to run? Oprah says, “Because Oprah can connect with people and help them heal.” Oh, give me a break!
