It\u2019s been actually a couple of months.<\/p>\n<p>You know, there\u2019s a movement out there for universal basic income. That everybody in America should have a minimum guaranteed annual income whether they work or not. Variations of this have been tried in cities, neighborhoods. It has never worked. But that\u2019s not the point. The point is there is a new monetary theory, monetary policy, theory that is being used as the foundation for this.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-266656\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/APP-030518-Piggy-Bank.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/APP-030518-Piggy-Bank.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/APP-030518-Piggy-Bank-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/>And this monetary policy theory is that the government has no limits on the amount of money it can spend or print, and that tax income, i.e., money raised via taxes to run government operations is essentially irrelevant, since the government can print money. The analogy is, Macy\u2019s never runs out of gift certificates. They cannot have too many. They can\u2019t give away too many. They\u2019ll never go out of business by printing up gift certificates. Same thing with dollars. So goes this theory.
