RUSH: Here\u2019s Keith in Shreveport, Louisiana, as we go back to the phones. Great to have you with us, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How are you today, Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Fine. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve been thinking, and with Hillary — she\u2019s pressing 60 now, and if she doesn\u2019t win the nomination or the election, isn\u2019t she pretty much finished in presidential politics?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Depends on who wins. In the case of a nomination, if another Democrat wins it, probably so. If a Republican wins, maybe not. But I think on balance — because I don\u2019t like to foreclose the Clintons on anything — I think they\u2019re going to be harassing us until we all assume room temperature, folks, in one way or the other.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, particularly if it\u2019s a two-term president, you know, with her high negatives and being up in age like that. She\u2019s no Ronald Reagan, so I just can\u2019t see her coming back.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, no, but I think there\u2019s something at play here even a little bit more relevant than Mrs. Clinton personally. This election is the last gasp of the sixties Baby Boomer generation to get control of this country. You go back to the sixties, and the sixties are known for the left-wing student protesters and people blowing up bank buildings, wearing tie-dyes and blue jeans and causing all kinds of hell. But there were a lot of conservative Baby Boomers back then as well who didn\u2019t subscribe to any of that, I, of course, proudly among them. But this is it. This election is the last chance the Baby Boom generation has to secure its vision for the country, and especially for the lefties. This is something they have been dreaming about. They got it for eight years with Bill Clinton. They wanted to continue it, of course, with Algore as their nominee, then Kerry. This is it. I think this is the last gasp. It\u2019s going to be brutal. By the time we get down to the actual nominees being chosen and get in the race, this is going to be a brutal campaign because I think Mrs. Clinton and her apparatus know that this is their last chance to get control of this country and shape it and form it and flake it in the vision that they want, because after this younger generations are going to be coming of age and they\u2019re not going to want anything to do with Baby Boomer values. <\/p>\n

The youngsters, the yutes<\/emphasize> that the Democrats spend so many hours trying to register each year, and they do register, but they never show up and vote in great numbers. We\u2019ve had Rock the Vote. We\u2019ve had pollute the vote. We\u2019ve had Vote or Die, all these efforts to register these young people, and they do get registered but they don\u2019t show up. But they\u2019re getting to be the age where they\u2019re going to start showing up and they\u2019re not going to have Baby Boom values. So I think that\u2019s one of the things that is going to motivate and inspire particularly Clinton, Inc., especially herself and Bill personally. This is it. This is the last chance, last chance to get hold of the apparatus in this country and shape it, form it, flake it into the vision that they want, perhaps for eight years. By the way, I think that\u2019s going to be an incredibly motivating turnout factor for Republicans. It\u2019s that image and picture of what\u2019s at stake here. Do you want the sixties radicals who are already running universities and much of the Drive-By Media, do you want \u2019em in the White House? That\u2019s really what this is. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, it is an honor and a privilege to share but for a brief moment the same airwaves with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir. I appreciate that. Very nice of you to say.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My point is this. During last Thursday\u2019s Hardball, John Edwards was falling in line with Barack Obama regarding entering Pakistan to capture bin Laden with or without Pakistan\u2019s permission. And this point was further echoed by a columnist in Thursday\u2019s Philadelphia Daily News and then again on Sunday when representatives of some other Democrat candidates jumped on the same wagon. I apologize, I forget which show it was. My question is this: Why hasn\u2019t this been reported in any major media outlet, and when is Hillary going to label John Edwards immature and na&iuml;ve, and when are the Democrats going to learn how to treat a sovereign nation that has a shaky government that also possesses nuclear weapons?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, the Democrats and the media are not mentioning Edwards because he\u2019s not a factor. Hillary\u2019s got it wrapped up (she thinks she\u2019s got it wrapped up) so do they. Edwards did not say it in a prominent circumstance, not nearly as prominent as Obama did. Also, this question about when are they going to realize it\u2019s a sovereign nation? You need to understand these people within the context of logic, and you can\u2019t. This is a primary campaign, and the prism on this, or the narrative on this, is that Bush has failed totally and utterly in the war on terror because we haven\u2019t captured bin Laden, and the left believes this. The left also defines success, or failure, that way. They\u2019re just pandering to the kook fringe that makes up their primary voting base by saying they\u2019re going to get bin Laden and they\u2019re going to go in there and do whatever they have to in Pakistan even if Musharraf does not want us there. They are trying to sound tough. They know what their image is on national security. But basically they\u2019re going to run against Bush, and all of those things that you\u2019ve quoted and cited are simply evidence of that. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
