<\/a>RUSH: Did you believe her?<\/p>\nCALLER: I was really taken aback. She said another mom had said, you know, her kid read one and that they were good. And I told her, you know, I know… You know, \u2019cause schools are very liberal. This one\u2019s not as liberal as most. But for her to admit that and, you know… I just wanted to hug her. So there\u2019s hope! There\u2019s hope for our country, I think.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Did you hug her?<\/p>\n
CALLER: I did.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh, that\u2019s sweet.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I did. Yeah. So I am gonna donate these books. I\u2019m actually not gonna donate my books because my daughter still reads them. I told her I\u2019d buy her a set for the library —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Now, wait —<\/p>\n
CALLER: — and she said yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You\u2019re getting ahead of me here for just a second. We\u2019ll deal with that here in just a second. Did she hug you back, or did she stand there like a statue when you hugged her?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Oh, no. She was a sweetheart. She really, really was sincere about getting these books in her library because she wants the kids to have access.<\/p>\n
RUSH: This really is incredible.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I know!<\/p>\n
RUSH: You have a woman who says that she\u2019s a liberal but actually wants these books because she\u2019s heard they\u2019re good.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Hmm.<\/p>\n
CALLER: And how fair is that, you know?<\/p>\n
RUSH: How long ago did this happen?<\/p>\n
CALLER: About four days ago.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So she doesn\u2019t have any books yet?<\/p>\n
CALLER: She has the first. I said, “Do you have any of them?” She said she does have the first one, the Brave Pilgrims.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Any indication that she herself has read it, or is she just going so —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Oh, no. (chuckles) No. She hasn\u2019t read them.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n CALLER: “The kids love them.”<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, liberals don\u2019t have a sense of humor. (sigh)<\/p>\n CALLER: That\u2019s true.<\/p>\n RUSH: They get offended. They get offended where most people laugh. Well, look, I\u2019m gonna deal with this… Rather than attach my normal reaction: “Well, wait \u2019til she sees it and she\u2019ll reverse all this.” I\u2019m not gonna do that. I tell you what I\u2019m gonna do. If you hang on, I would like to donate the books that you then give to the library.<\/p>\n CALLER: Oh, my gosh.<\/p>\n RUSH: I know you\u2019d like to buy them.<\/p>\n CALLER: That would be awesome.<\/p>\n RUSH: But this way they can come directly from the Rush Revere team<\/a>, actually the Revere world and so forth. And you know what we\u2019ll do? We will include a Liberty stuffed doll that you can also give to your daughter.<\/p>\n CALLER: Oh. That is so sweet.<\/p>\n RUSH: In fact, we\u2019ll throw two of them in, if you want to give one to the teacher.<\/p>\n CALLER: Okay. Yeah. My daughter actually has that one, the little stuffed animal, \u2019cause she has everything. She\u2019s a Rush Baby<\/a>.<\/p>\n RUSH: Oh, you say, “little stuffed animal.” How big is the one she has?<\/p>\n CALLER: Just a small one.<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, okay. Now, I\u2019m gonna hold it up here. I know you\u2019re not watching, but the one I\u2019ve got here is probably about a foot-and-a-half long.<\/p>\n CALLER: Oh. That\u2019s probably larger than the one she\u2019s got.<\/p>\n CALLER: That is awesome. That is awesome. I told her and I told this librarian, I said, “You know, they\u2019re very… The history is accurate.” So, you know, that\u2019s another important part of the books.<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, you know, I could be very cynical and say, “She won\u2019t recognize it, then,” but I\u2019m not.<\/p>\n CALLER: (laughing) Exactly.<\/p>\n RUSH: No, no. I wouldn\u2019t dare say that. I\u2019m not gonna say that now. This is actually very cool. It\u2019s very sweet. And I\u2019m glad that you got through to tell me.<\/p>\n CALLER: Doesn\u2019t that give you hope? I just want to… You know, they\u2019re so… Sometimes you just don\u2019t have hope for this country.<\/p>\n RUSH: I know what you mean, because it doesn\u2019t —<\/p>\n CALLER: It\u2019s like they\u2019ll never come around.<\/p>\n RUSH: It doesn\u2019t seem like we have anything in common. There\u2019s no way to cross a bridge to the other side.<\/p>\n CALLER: I know.<\/p>\n RUSH: They don\u2019t seem to see anything the way we do.<\/p>\n CALLER: It\u2019s true. Sure. You just don\u2019t talk.<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, this is hope.<\/p>\n CALLER: Yes! Yes. Hope.<\/p>\n RUSH: So hang on. We\u2019ll get your address, and we\u2019ll get a whole package of stuff that we send out from the Revere bunch next week to you.<\/p>\n CALLER: I think that would be awesome. Maybe I can even get her to listen to you.<\/p>\n RUSH: Ha! That would be great, too.<\/p>\n CALLER: What do you think? Yeah.<\/p>\n RUSH: If you could pull that off — if you could pull that off — that\u2019d be miraculous.
