CALLER: Well, mega dittos, Rush. I\u2019m soon to be a 19-year-listener of you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, that will be August 1st, 19th anniversary coming up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir. Anyway, you were speaking yesterday about the FDA taking over control of the tobacco industry, as far as the dosages go. I\u2019m just wondering, there\u2019s no best secondhand — pointed out to secondhand smoke causing any deaths. But alcohol, they\u2019ll allow alcohol to be served in the public, a guy can go and get blitzed and he can go out and kill somebody. I just don\u2019t understand why they\u2019re picking on tobacco so much.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, as I puff on my soon to be $10 taxed cigar, there is no political aim here in attacking big booze. Big Booze has somehow remained immune.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, is it because smokers are a minority and alcohol users are probably not a minority?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, I think it\u2019s because a lot of liberals drink. A lot of liberals consume adult beverages, but they don\u2019t smoke. And so they\u2019re not going to go after something that they use. Not going to go after something that they do.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s it exactly, and that\u2019s my point, it\u2019s that they want to go after firearms — alcohol, tobacco, firearms — and they\u2019ll go after tobacco and firearms, but not something that kills a lot of innocent people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there\u2019s another thing, too, you got a remember, the Kennedy family, I don\u2019t know if this is still accurate, but the Kennedy trust at one time — you know, old Joe got started as a bootlegger.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They at one time received the import duty on every bottle of scotch that came into the United States of America. I don\u2019t know if they still do. This is some years ago. But the Kennedy family has interests in the import and sale of adult beverages. I don\u2019t think anybody\u2019s going to target it. I mean, there are regulations. Can\u2019t be advertised as extensively —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Distilled spirits can\u2019t. But they probably have a much better lobbying operation than Big Tobacco does. And, of course, alcohol can kill quicker than tobacco can. There\u2019s all kinds of hypocritical inconsistencies with this, which is what you, a soon-to-be 19-year-listener, are cleverly and astutely pointing out.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I just can\u2019t understand it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: When you find these things that you can\u2019t understand, the rule of thumb works almost every time it\u2019s tried, is go to liberalism and liberals and examine what they do and what they don\u2019t do and how they think and don\u2019t think and feel and so forth, you\u2019ll get close to these answers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
