RUSH: Okay. Let\u2019s revisit the CNN YouTube debate. The ratings have been released for the debate on Monday night, and about two and a half million total viewers, 831,000 viewers in the 25 to 54 demographic. I pronounced the attempt a total failure, based on those numbers. Two and a half million people watching the Democrat debate. You know what\u2019s going to happen? I\u2019ll make you a prediction. Before this is all said and done, the Democrats are going to end up on Fox, because if they don\u2019t, they\u2019re not going to get an audience for these debates. I\u2019ll tell you who\u2019s going to lead the charge. Hillary Clinton will lead the charge to get on Fox, and it will be interesting to see what the Breck Girl does, because he was out there front and center saying, I\u2019m not going to Fox. You mark my words. I know nothing. I am following my instincts on this ladies and gentlemen. And CNN, this whole charade with this YouTube stunt was designed to get them into the Internet arena and era. Why do they want that? Because that\u2019s where these young acne faced little narcissists are these days, and CNN wants them. Every broadcast outfit wants the young 25, 18-54 demographic. 663,000 in the YouTube demo, 18 to 49. That is a failure. Of course, they\u2019re running around and they\u2019re talking about what a success it was. <\/p>\n

I\u2019ll tell you what, if NBC had tried this, if they told all of their journalists that they have made stars, “You guys take the night off and we\u2019re going to play videos from YouTube asking the questions. We\u2019re going to have a snowman up there asking questions about global warming.” Can you imagine what the professionals at NBC — they\u2019d be seething behind the scenes. I bet at CNN there might have been some of that. But as Tim Russert pointed out yesterday, all these videos were available for all these candidates to consult, like an open book test. Nothing is being made of that. In fact, get this. I guess the CNN team that was examining the videos that were submitted on YouTube, the team discovered that maybe 20 supporters of Senator Biden had all submitted videos asking the exact same question. Biden had his people flood the YouTube site to try to get these questions answered. And Mr. Cooper, Anderson Cooper, that would be, gently chided the Biden camp at the beginning of the debate for trying to manipulate the process. <\/p>\n

Also this. Some celebrities from the entertainment industry submitted YouTube videos, but David Bohrman, who is the bureau chief here at CNN who went through all these videos, would not reveal who the celebrities were. He said he nixed them, these Hollywood celebrities, as well as those from public officials because he wanted the debate for real people. So Hollywood is unreal, and public officials are not real people. Want to leave it to real people. All right, this takes us to Senator Biden. I want to play another sound bite or two from the debate itself. Here\u2019s the question. Again, you can\u2019t see this because it\u2019s audio only, but it\u2019s a YouTube user named Jared Townsend. He\u2019s sitting down on a chair and he pulls out at the end of his question, when he starts talking about his baby, he said our babies, going to keep our babies safe, he pulls out his Bushmaster AR-15. Remember that video? Here\u2019s his question.<\/p>\n

TOWNSEND: To all the candidates, tell me your position on gun control, as myself and other Americans really want to know if our babies are safe. This is my baby. Purchased under the 1994 gun ban. Please tell me your views. Thank you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So he pulls out his baby, his Bushmaster AR-15. Here\u2019s first, Bill Richardson answering this question.<\/p>\n

RICHARDSON: The issue here, I believe, is instant background checks. Nobody who has a criminal background or is mentally ill should be able to get a weapon.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Stop the tape. He just called Jered Townsend of Cleo, Michigan, mentally ill. He may not think that he did, but he just did. The Democrats, this guy is showing his gun, he\u2019s all happy about it, “Oh, my gosh, a wacko! They\u2019re playing me a video of a wacko.” Okay, so Bill Richardson just called the guy mentally ill.<\/p>\n

RICHARDSON: That is the key. And that includes gun sales. That includes gun sales at gun shows. The key is going to be also attacking poverty, bringing people together, dealing with those kids in the ghettos that are heavy users of gun violence and are victims of gun violence, to make sure that this country attacks the core problems of poverty. Having child care, bringing parents together.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So there you go, gotta bring people together. So gun control now is about solving poverty, too. And child care. See how the liberals do this? It all works together. Here is Biden\u2019s answer. Anderson Cooper says, “Senator Biden, are you going to keep Jered Townsend\u2019s baby safe?”<\/p>\n

BIDEN: I\u2019ll tell you what, if that\u2019s his baby, he needs help.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Whoa-ho.<\/p>\n

BIDEN: I think he just made an admission against self-interest. I don\u2019t know that he\u2019s mentally qualified to own that gun. I\u2019m being serious. Look, this idea we go around talking about people who — who own — I\u2019m the guy that originally wrote the assault weapons ban, that became law, and then we got defeated and Dianne Feinstein went to town on it and did a great job. Look, we should be working with law enforcement right now to make sure that we protect people against people who are not capable of knowing what to do with a gun because they\u2019re either mentally imbalanced and\/or because they have a criminal record.<\/p>\n

COOPER: One more question —<\/p>\n

BIDEN: Hope he doesn\u2019t come looking for me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, this is interesting because the 2000 election, Gore-Bush debates, Gore tries to make it plain he\u2019s against gun control. He wants hunters to go out there and be able to shoot pit bulls or what have you, and then 2004 Kerry does the same thing, goes out there, goes to some state, puts on that plaid jacket, “Can I get me a huntin\u2019 license here?” But here in this debate, when they are targeting their base, they think guys like Jered Townsend of Cleo, Michigan, are mentally insane, mentally unstable. Yes, Mr. Snerdley, what? Oh, come on. This guy is a gun owner, he loves his gun, for crying out loud. It\u2019s a good question. He\u2019s asking Democrats, “What are you going to do here? Are you going to take my baby? You going to take my gun away from me?” He was talking about using it to protect his babies and so forth. Even so, to sit there and call the guy insane and mentally unstable and so forth? And you note the audience, yay! Liberals in that audience were going nuts. <\/p>\n

RUSH: By the way, Mr. Snerdley, you sit in there and you think that this guy Jered Townsend from Cleo, Michigan, is a little off because he makes a video holding up his Bushmaster AR-15, whatever it is, calling it his baby. How come nobody\u2019s calling that idiot who posed as a snowman with a global warming question a little off?<\/p>\n
