CALLER:\u00a0 Hi! Mr. Limbaugh, mega dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (muffled) Well, I have been ecstatic with this president, and I grow happier every time I hear him or even hear about his tweets.\u00a0 I loved everything he said! He\u2019s becoming more and more my favorite president ever.\u00a0 So I love his courage and just seeing that bitter gumming Nancy Pelosi with her Depends in a wad, twisting every time something is mentioned is kind of bizarre.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 You think that\u2019s what the problem was? You think the Depends were kind of creeping up the crevice there?\u00a0 I thought it was maybe the adhesive for the dentures.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: You think the Depends was kind of wadded up, huh?<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Yeah, I do.\u00a0 She\u2019s probably so loaded with some stuff, she probably needed a second pair on. But the Democrats in general are just always bitter.\u00a0 They don\u2019t even show any attempt to get to the other side.\u00a0 Kind of like when you say the Palestinians start with, “Let\u2019s start with killing all the Jews and go from there.”\u00a0 That\u2019s how Democrats are.\u00a0 “We\u2019re not gonna start with anything but defeating the Republicans.”\u00a0 There\u2019s no working with people.\u00a0 It\u2019s just defeat them.\u00a0 They need to be defeated.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Amen, bro. Amen.\u00a0 You know, it is interesting to hear other people\u2019s reaction to this speech last night.\u00a0 I like to put myself in the shoes of the Democrats.\u00a0 I really… It may be a waste of time, but it\u2019s not if the purpose is entertainment — and for me, it is.\u00a0 See, I don\u2019t live any longer with the hope that the Democrats can be persuaded.\u00a0 I don\u2019t care what Trump\u2019s reputation is as a persuader. I mean, the Democrats in that body last night, the Democrats in the House and Senate.<\/p>\n

\"\"I understand there are Democrats listening to this program who will convert or being persuaded, randomly — and it happens frequently in small numbers, and it has for the entire period of time we\u2019ve been on the air.\u00a0 But in mass numbers, it doesn\u2019t and I don\u2019t expect it to.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t expect the Democrats in Congress to all of a sudden realize that they have been wrong about Trump.\u00a0 They can\u2019t!\u00a0 They are locked in their position.\u00a0 Now, why are they locked?<\/p>\n

Are they locked because they\u2019ve staked it out and they are being controlled by their madcap base and they can\u2019t be flexible because the base will abandon them?\u00a0 Or is this who they really are?\u00a0 Well, depends on which Democrat you\u2019re talking about.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be honest: I think Chuck Schumer is not nearly the lunatic radical the people who vote for him are, but he\u2019s still a radical leftist.\u00a0 But I think Chuck Schumer is a Democrat who would move off of some Democrat positions if he weren\u2019t afraid of his base.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s a guy that if compromise was the order of the day, I think he could compromise. But he can\u2019t ever as long as the people that vote for him remain the people that vote for him.\u00a0 Other Democrats, they\u2019re hopeless.\u00a0 There is no way they can ever modify.\u00a0 They go into a speech like last night…\u00a0 You have to examine, “Okay, what is their mind-set? What are their desires? What do they really think of Trump when this thing starts last night?”<\/p>\n

I believe that most Democrats — and especially Democrat voters who do not watch anything other than Drive-By Media — really think that Trump is insane, really believe that Trump is unbalanced. They really believe that he is suffering from dementia. They really believe that he doesn\u2019t read. They really believe that he doesn\u2019t know anything. So they go into events like this fully expecting to see it.\u00a0 They don\u2019t believe Trump can mask it or hide it.<\/p>\n

They don\u2019t believe every word being put on a teleprompter will save Trump from going off script and “stepping in it,” so to speak.\u00a0 So what happens last night happens and they are clueless; they\u2019re lost.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t compute.\u00a0 What they\u2019re really mad about last night and remain angry about today is that Trump hit a home run.\u00a0 They are angry that Trump did it.\u00a0 They\u2019re angry that Trump isn\u2019t who they have been portraying him to be.\u00a0 They\u2019re angry that America is improving with Trump\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n

They are angry that Trump — as an outsider, a nobody, a know-nothing — is able to come in and reduce African-American unemployment in one year lower than it\u2019s ever been with the Democrat being ostensibly on the case trying to make it happen for 50 years.\u00a0 So their anger last night — and there are many spokes on the wheel of their anger.\u00a0 They\u2019re angry that Trump won, they\u2019re angry he\u2019s giving the speech, they\u2019re angry that he\u2019s succeeding, they\u2019re angry that they haven\u2019t got rid of him yet, they\u2019re angry that the Russian colluding thing has bombed out.<\/p>\n

\"\"They are just literally… They are the ones, I think, losing their grasp on reality.\u00a0 Last night\u2019s State of the Union speech was, it turns out, exactly what one is supposed to be. The Founding Fathers when they established the country established this idea that the president every January-February would send a report to members of Congress on the state of the union.\u00a0 “Hey, we\u2019re okay. We\u2019re not okay. Things are going well. Here\u2019s where they\u2019re not going well and what we need to do.”<\/p>\n

And it was a very informal thing.\u00a0 And then it was decided way back long ago that this should happen in person, the president should go up there and make a speech.\u00a0 And in our lifetimes, State of the Union speeches have not been about the state of the union at all.\u00a0 They have been the sitting president and majority party giving speeches containing laundry lists of the things they intend to provide or give as many people as they can, coupled with incessant criticism of the opposition party.<\/p>\n

For Obama, the State of the Union was a giant gloat occasion, and it was an opportunity to explain how he was going to transform America and to elucidate all of the problems that America had and all of the problems America caused and all of the wrongs and injustices traceable to America which needed to be fixed. And of course most of those were domestic, some of them international, but America had really failed in its mission of inclusiveness and diversity and civil rights and all of this.<\/p>\n

So the Democrat, Obama State of the Union was a combination of here\u2019s what\u2019s wrong with America that we\u2019re gonna fix, and what\u2019s wrong with America is basically the way it was founded and here\u2019s how we\u2019re gonna fix it. We\u2019re gonna take things from people who have a lot and we\u2019re gonna give \u2019em to you because you deserve \u2019em because you\u2019ve been screwed. And we\u2019re gonna cure cancer, and we\u2019re gonna cure athlete\u2019s feet, and we\u2019re gonna cure this, we\u2019re gonna do this, and it was just a giant wish list.<\/p>\n

Last night we actually got a state of the union. We have a president who established a premise that the nation is good, the state of the union is solid, it\u2019s good, and it\u2019s getting better. And what followed was the evidence. Evidentiary examples followed. Some of the examples involved his policies succeeding. Other examples were the stories of his guests in the gallery that he detailed.<\/p>\n

And every one of those people in that gallery last night, the guests, every one of those people had overcome adversity. They had achieved something great. They had experienced something horrible, but they were brought into the room to have it explained to them that everybody\u2019s hearts in America were with them once it was learned what had happened and that this government was now attempting to root out the evil that had killed the children of some of the guests last night so that it hopefully would not happen to other families.<\/p>\n
