I\u2019ll tell you what, folks, we wanted to go back and play this update because Mrs. Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards has confirmed all of this. You remember, back in March, the New York Sun, Josh Gerstein did a story in the New York Sun, in which he talked to Kate Michelman, former abortion leader babe, who said of all the candidates, that John Edwards was the most sensitive to women. Not Hillary Clinton, not Barack Obama, John Edwards was the guy, first female president. Just like Clinton was the first black president, John Edwards was going to be the first female president. So we put together this update, having seen that, and then of course Media Matters for America got all upset that I would dare stoop this low. Well, Mrs. Edwards has confirmed it today. Elizabeth Edwards has said Hillary is just, well, we\u2019ve got it up here. I don\u2019t want to paraphrase this because it\u2019s too important. Hillary is behaving like a man, unlike her husband. So vindication, ladies and gentlemen. <\/p>\n

Now, as you know — well, you may not know. The Politico, fast rising website out there, comprised of former Washington Post reporters, posted a story yesterday, ‘Edwards Has Plan to Diversify Schools. Sen. John Edwards plans to warn later this week that the nation\u2019s schools have become segregated by race and income, and he will propose measures to diversify both inner-city and middle-class schools. The plan calls for beefing up inner-city magnet schools to attract suburban kids…\u2019 right, like that\u2019s going to happen. Well, hang in with me on this. ‘… and providing extra money for schools in middle-class areas as a reward for enrolling more low-income students.\u2019 We\u2019ve been there and done that, and it doesn\u2019t work. He\u2019s proposing something that we\u2019ve been trying for years that has been proven not to work. ‘Edward lingered in the Big Easy this morning &ndash; admiring a 5-year-old Head Start pupil\u2019s sneakers,\u2019 What, a five-year-old had sneakers? I thought he was on a poverty tour. He was ‘hobnobbing in a wood-floored cafe — before racing into Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee,\u2019 blah, blah, blah. ‘We still have two public school systems in this country.\u2019 <\/p>\n

We\u2019ve got two Americas. We\u2019ve got two school systems. I\u2019ll tell you what two school systems are: mediocre and real bad. Edwards said, ”They\u2019re not segregated just based on race. They\u2019re segregated, to a large extent, based on economics, which has racial implications.\u2019 As explained by people who have been consulted about the program, Edwards wants to set aside $100 million to help school districts implement economic integration programs. The money will help finance buses and other resources for schools that enroll additional low-income children.\u2019 We have done this. Busing. It\u2019s just like his revolutionary, blindingly brilliant idea to make work pay. He has come up with the concept of a paycheck. Now he\u2019s come up with a concept of busing. Absolutely. Nobody thought of this. And, of course, where did he come up with this? In New Orleans where they don\u2019t use the buses for anything meaningful. The buses get flooded with everything else in a hurricane. He\u2019s proposing busing. <\/p>\n

Snerdley wants to help Edwards here. Call them school buses. We will bus people\u2019s kids to areas way far away from their homes and put \u2019em with people that they\u2019re never going to otherwise see or meet, and it\u2019s going to cause real great diversity, but nobody\u2019s going to learn anything. Everybody\u2019s going to lose a lot of sleep and think of all the gasoline we\u2019re going to be wasting with all these long bus trips that have no meaning. We\u2019ve done this, folks. This is just about to end because it\u2019s a failure. ‘Edwards also envisions magnet schools dedicated to economic integration. The idea is that these schools would attract middle-class and suburban students to low-income areas.\u2019 He must be hanging around the other America, because we\u2019ve been doing this for 50 years. Just like it pays to work. It\u2019s always paid to work, ever since there was work. <\/p>\n

Anyway, The Politico story, which was posted yesterday, very favorable. Oh, what a brilliant plan, there\u2019s no criticism in it. But, but, between that posting and what I have in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers here, Elizabeth Edwards went out there and said that Hillary Clinton behaves like a man. Clinton, Inc., is not sitting idly by. Dutifully coming to the rescue is ABC\u2019s website. ABC News\u2019 Rick Klein reports, ‘Former Senator John Edwards on Tuesday plans to unveil a proposal to alleviate economic inequality in the nation\u2019s public schools. ‘I think there are two public schools here.” However, the Edwards moved to put their kids in a better school so they would not have to have their kids go to a school they didn\u2019t want them to go to. And that\u2019s what this story said. That\u2019s the primary point of this story. ‘When the Edwards family purchased a 102-acre plot of land to build a home on in 2004, they appeared to have had those odds in mind. Elizabeth Edwards said at the time that they chose their location in large part based on the education the couple\u2019s two young children would receive there. According to a local newspaper report, shortly after the purchase, Elizabeth Edwards said, ‘The family plans to move there because she and her husband are interested in the school district there.\u2019 More than a year after the purchase, when local bloggers began buzzing about the fact that the new home would be in an unincorporated part of the county that\u2019s part of Chapel Hill Carrboro school district, Mrs. Edwards wrote in the blog and cited the great public schools among the reason for their decision to relocate to a new piece of land.\u2019 <\/p>\n

So they fled a bad school district, bought someplace to go to a good school district. I\u2019m not sure, but it wouldn\u2019t surprise me if Clinton, Inc., is shopping this little tidbit around because Edwards is going to announce his big diversity in schools plan this week, and now it\u2019s out there on ABC, and it will spread throughout the Drive-Bys and the other candidates that he\u2019s a hypocrite. Because the plan he\u2019s going to devise for everybody else he had a way to avoid himself, and did.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Everybody is puzzling over my meaning of Mrs. Clinton being a trophy wife. Think bowling trophy wife. Welcome back, Rush Limbaugh, the EIB Network and the cutting edge of societal evolution. Also an e-mailer suggests, ‘Rush, it\u2019s a great idea to make sure that the hookers are going to charge a fair rate tonight for the all-nighter in the Senate and to make sure that there are Port-A-Potties in there, but the age of these people, they got cots, you forgot to suggest bedpans.\u2019 That\u2019s good, very helpful. We simply want to do all we can to help. Also, there\u2019s a town meeting tonight in Davenport, Iowa. Elizabeth Edwards and Kate Michelman, who essentially dubbed John Edwards the first female president. The gender wars are just beginning here, because this Kate Michelman is the one that got it all started that John Edwards is the guy that is the most up to speed, the most sensitive, the most aware of women\u2019s issues, and then said in Salon in an interview that Hillary behaves like a man.
