RUSH: Remember last week we reported to you these OSHA restrictions? They\u2019re trying to basically ban ammunition from gun shops, you wouldn\u2019t be able to sell it, and I accidentally swerved into it when I was perusing websites. Well, OSHA announced it ‘will significantly revise a recent proposal for new ‘explosives safety\u2019 regulations that caused serious concern among gun owners. OSHA had originally set out to update workplace safety regulations, but the proposed rules included restrictions that very few gun shops, sporting goods stores, shippers, or ammunition dealers could comply with.\u2019 Now, let me give you a little history on this, the way this works. Liberals, as opposed to conservatives, seek to own the government. They seek to populate it, and they seek to use it to advance their world agenda. The government is the foundation of it, big government, oppressive government, controlling every aspect of life as much as they can secure. Conservatives on the other hand, they\u2019re interested in government, getting it out of the way. Conservatives do not want to control people\u2019s lives. Don\u2019t want to tell them how to do live. If you want to do something that\u2019s not good for you, go do it, pay the consequences. We conservatives don\u2019t sit around and preach. We\u2019re not nannies. We\u2019re not going to condemn, this sort of thing, unless your immorality is such that it pervades society and causes collapse. But other than that, drive the car you want to drive. If you want to listen to the radio you want to listen to, do it, do it. Not the way the Democrats operate; not the way liberals operate. <\/p>\n

So the Democrat Party has not been able to get anywhere on a gun control agenda because there are simply too many people in this country who, for whatever reason, want a gun. They hunt or they want one for self-defense, protection and so forth. I\u2019ll never forget Gore, in the 2000 presidential debate, actually making the case that he was anti-gun control. He wanted everybody to have a gun that wanted one. Then Kerry, in the 2004 race, goes to Ohio or Indiana somewhere, dressed up like Elmer Fud and said, ‘Can I get me a huntin\u2019 license here?\u2019 Trying to make everybody think that these guys have seen the light on gun control, they\u2019re out there seeking the votes of gun owners. So you say, ‘Then how did this happen?\u2019 Well, OSHA is a government agency, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and it\u2019s one of these little organizations that tells everybody how they have to run their office and how they have to run their business; how big the toilet can be; how wide the handicapped toilet could be. You have to have an incline for wheelchairs, all of these things. Is your ceiling too short? Is there asbestos up there? It\u2019s the gestapo in disguise of an angel. <\/p>\n

So you\u2019ve got these little liberals that have come out of the Ivy League or wherever they\u2019ve been educated, and they work in these agencies. They populate them. And some liberals obviously came up with an idea. ‘All right, if we can\u2019t get gun control legislatively, if the will of the American people is such that we can\u2019t win this, then we gotta take an end route. We gotta make an end run.\u2019 And that\u2019s what this was. They were simply going to make it impossible for sporting goods stores and gun owners to have ammunition in stock, because it\u2019s an explosive, and it violated the new safety regulations. Well, what good\u2019s a gun without the bullet? What good\u2019s a shotgun without the shell? This is how they do it, folks. They insulate themselves from election results by getting themselves in these agencies. These little liberals raise their kids this way and they program \u2019em and they send \u2019em off to the Kennedy school at Harvard or other places, and they get them indoctrinated in this way. They try to indoctrinate as many as possible, and they end up at the State Department, and they end up at the Pentagon, and they end up at the CIA. They\u2019re in there doing whatever they can, regardless what the will of the American people is, and they use the power of government to do it. <\/p>\n

Now, you might say, ‘Well, how can something like this happen? I thought there had to be a law, and I thought only Congress passed laws.\u2019 No, Congress passed a law. Actually, Nixon gave us OSHA trying to buy favor with the libs back then. So he gave us OSHA and he gave us EPA, the Environmental Protection Agency, worst thing that ever happened for people that have a pond in their backyard. They just lose the use of their property. He gave us affirmative action. Nixon trying to buy favor with these people, it doesn\u2019t work. It never works. New tone, let them write the education bill, it never works. But we never learn from this. So they did authorize the creation of OSHA, and OSHA has wide latitude. They can issue restrictions and update new workplace requirements whenever they want. Now, after this little thing was posted and people started learning about it, the publicity here, dozens of members of Congress who had no idea that this was even happening, expressed concern about its impact, and OSHA has wisely decided to go back to the drawing board now. <\/p>\n

‘Working with the NRA, Congressman Denny Rehberg (R-MT) planned to offer a floor amendment to the Labor-HHS appropriations bill this Wednesday when the House considers this legislation. His amendment would have prohibited federal funds from being used to enforce this OSHA regulation. Such an amendment is no longer necessary since Kristine A. Iverson, the Labor Department\u2019s Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, sent Rep. Rehberg a letter, dated July 16, stating that it ‘was never the intention of OSHA to block the sale, transportation, or storage of small arms ammunition, and OSHA is taking prompt action to revise\u2019 this proposed rule to clarify the purpose of the regulation.\u2019 Uh-huh. I don\u2019t buy it. I don\u2019t believe it for a minute. It may be that somebody in OSHA didn\u2019t know this was happening, two or three people that wormed this thing in there, and it can be that this woman doesn\u2019t really know, ‘Well, we wouldn\u2019t do that.\u2019 Well, somebody did. It was in there, and now they admit it\u2019s in there because they\u2019re going to take it out. They\u2019re going to revise it. <\/p>\n

‘Also, working with the NRA, Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-CO) gathered signatures from 25 House colleagues for a letter, dated July 11, expressing concerns about this proposed OSHA rule. The letter calling the proposal ‘an undue burden on a single industry where facts do not support the need outlined by this proposed rule\u2019 and ‘not feasible, making it realistically impossible for companies to comply with its tenets.” That was the exact purpose. By making it impossible to comply, you have to go out of business. You think I\u2019m exaggerating about this. Somebody tried to get this done. Somebody at OSHA — a group, an individual, somebody, tried to get this done, and they\u2019re going to keep trying things like this, because liberals don\u2019t want you to have a gun, and they haven\u2019t changed on this. I don\u2019t care what their presidential candidates say, they do not want you to have a gun, but once again, the American people stopped it, and this is cause for celebration. <\/p>\n

The American people found out about this, raised holy hell to their elected representatives, and OSHA had to back down, because whoever did this is not going to stand up and raise his hand and say, ‘Hey, this is my idea,\u2019 and they\u2019re not going to stay, ‘This is why it\u2019s a good idea, and this is why it should happen.\u2019 It was a sneak attack, and this is how they do it. They instituted this kind of behavior in the judiciary, lifetime appointments there, insulated from election results and so forth. Very hideous, folks, and that\u2019s what the Democrats in the Senate are trying to accomplish here with their all-nighter tonight, although this is out in the open and everybody can see it, but the will of the people be damned. You don\u2019t know what\u2019s good for you. They are liberals and you are an infant and they are going to control your life for the sole purpose of securing their power, by the way. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
