<\/a>CALLER: Hi, Rush. I\u2019m a Rush Baby. I\u2019m 17 years old. I listen to you when I can, usually just during the summers.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I appreciate that. Thank you. You said you\u2019re 17?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. I\u2019ve been listening to you since I was small. I love your show. Anyway, I\u2019m calling you today, Rush, because my father — who my mom and I kid around and call him a closet liberal — we\u2019re staunch Catholics, and he recently dropped on the Algore train and decided he\u2019s getting a new car and he\u2019s not to go with the big SUV that he wanted, because he needs to reduce his carbon footprint because the Vatican told him. <\/p>\n

RUSH: (Laughing.)<\/p>\n

CALLER: (Laughs.) I\u2019m just wondering, how can I convince him it\u2019s a hoax?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019d seen the Vatican did get involved in global warming. I did see that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir, and I just wondered, how can I convince him this is a hoax, a political ploy by the Democrats?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well… (sigh) Look, now we\u2019re talking religion, and I don\u2019t know how I could convince you to get him to believe that the Pope is full of it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t think that\u2019s even my purview. The only thing you might try, since he is devoutly religious, is say, ‘Well, dad, the whole global warming thing is nothing more than a religion. It has the same elements as any other religion does. It has its Garden of Eden — pristine, everything was fine and dandy! It has human sin. It has human destruction. It has salvation!\u2019 Salvation is what your dad just did. Your dad just admitted guilt. He didn\u2019t buy what he wants to buy because he\u2019s been convinced that buying that would destroy the planet. Well, your dad\u2019s probably very moral and probably doesn\u2019t violate the moral teachings of other elements of the church, either, because he doesn\u2019t want to participate in the destruction of society. The point is — and they both require faith. Nobody can prove either of them. Faith is required in both of them. Does he have any political sense at all? Is he interested like in conservatism and liberalism when it comes to public issues?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He used to be a Democrat, and then he married my mom, and this is during the Jimmy Carter disaster. It\u2019s BC, Before Jimmy Carter.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I got it. I understand what\u2019s coming next. Hang on. Don\u2019t hang up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve got a commercial break coming up. We\u2019re going to get this done somehow.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We go back to McAllen, Texas and Tim, who is 17 years old. His father was right about most everything else, but did not get the kind of car he wants to get because he believes in global warming.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, not yet, sir. He still has time, about a month or two before he gets a new car.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then! <\/p>\n

CALLER: So I\u2019m trying to convince him. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then! <\/p>\n

CALLER: We still have time.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then your timing could not have been better. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (Chuckles.)<\/p>\n

RUSH: We have to speak to your dad in areas and ways that he can relate to and understand. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You tell him that the people that made that SUV made it to help people.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You tell him that the purpose of that SUV is to facilitate a number of things in his life that he wants, and there\u2019s nothing wrong with getting what you want. I mean, they make them. They\u2019re legal. It\u2019s obviously going to have some benefit other than just satisfying a desire. Tell him not to abort the SUV.<\/p>\n

CALLER: He\u2019s actually used to listened to your show but you\u2019ve become too stressful for him, so…<\/p>\n

RUSH: He used to listen to the show but it\u2019s become too stressful for him?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, that\u2019s too bad.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I love the show. I listen to it every summer.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What in the world could he find stressful about it? It must mean that he knows he\u2019s wrong about things, and just doesn\u2019t want to be reminded about some of them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It has to be that, Tim. It really can\u2019t be stressful. There\u2019s nothing stressful here. This is a good time every day.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Tell him not to abort the SUV. Tell him that that SUV deserves to have a parent, an owner.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019d be much better off in your driveway or garage than, you know, out in the weather, getting beat up on the lot.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh-huh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Need somebody that loves it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Especially SUVs, because they have minds of their own, you know, if you listen to the news. Seriously, Tim, do you have a computer?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir, I do.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you are now. This is worth it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m sure that there are a lot of people in the audience thinking that you just ran a big scam here to get a free subscription, but I think you\u2019re better than that. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what you were trying to do. We\u2019ll have you signed up here by the end of the day.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So when the call is over, don\u2019t hang up. We\u2019ll get the information to you take it happen.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh-huh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Everything that we have said here on this program that debunks all of the myths, all the scientists that we have consulted, that agree that there is no ‘manmade\u2019 global warming. Nobody\u2019s denying the planet is warming up in places, but whether or not we\u2019re causing it, is a liberal trick. It is a liberal plot that\u2019s designed to make people like your dad do just what they\u2019re doing: feel guilty about getting what they really want, and your dad is going to feel better about himself because he thinks he\u2019s ‘saving the planet\u2019 and so forth, when actually all he\u2019s doing is voluntarily rolling back the lifestyle that he and his family can have. He clearly can afford the SUV. So he\u2019s not going to buy it, and this is what they want. They want him to feel guilty. They want him to feel like he bears some responsibility for the global warming and the destruction that is part of it. Also tell him this. I love this line. Some people it makes an impression on, some it doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But if you look at the science of this, we always hear that ‘a consensus of scientists say…\u2019 Now, you\u2019ve probably had some science classes in your education so far. You\u2019ve probably not been told this, but science cannot be defined by the consensus of a bunch of scientists. Science is not up for a vote!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I mean, you could have a consensus of scientists say that the sun resolves around the earth, and the global warming people say, ‘That\u2019s evidence! That\u2019s enough evidence for us.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And it\u2019s not. I\u2019ll tell you, when you get to the Essential Stack of Stuff, we\u2019ve got links to two things there I want you to find. They are speeches by Michael Crichton, who has been brilliant on this. He\u2019s talked about it. He\u2019s tired of talking about it anymore, but there\u2019s a bunch of stuff there. You read it and print out what you find is the most persuasive for your dad. But the real thing to do is, I would tell him — and don\u2019t tell him you talked to me. Don\u2019t tell him I put these words in your mouth, okay? <\/p>\n

CALLER: (Chuckles.)<\/p>\n

RUSH: You tell him, ‘Dad, do you really think that your buying that SUV is going to ead to the destruction of the planet?\u2019 <\/p>\n

CALLER: True.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Make him think about it in real, precise terms, and then if he says yes, ask him how. ‘How in the world can a single car destroy the world?\u2019 He\u2019ll say, ‘We\u2019ll add up all these other SUVs…\u2019 Well, we\u2019ve got all these airplanes flying around, and nobody\u2019s talking about getting rid of them. We got all of these space shuttles flying around. We got all kinds of vehicles that fly, and big trucks on the highway. Nobody is talking about getting rid of them yet. They just want individuals to get rid of what they want, and after they come for your car, they\u2019re going to tell you your house is too big.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And then they\u2019re going to tell you that your lawn mower is too noisy, and then they\u2019re going to tell you that the food you eat is causing global warming, and they\u2019re going to try to get you to stop eating beef. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (Chuckles.)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, this is all happening.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Algore\u2019s Live Earth concert in London, at Wembley stadium, PETA is trying to get them not to sell hamburgers and hot dogs because environmentalists don\u2019t eat meat, they say.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Supposedly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, supposedly. Anyway, you have a chance to win this because you want your dad to get what he wants, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir, I do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And how much of you want the SUVs as well?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I have an old truck but I\u2019d like him to get a big SUV to he can travel in it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, wait a minute. If you have your own truck, how come he\u2019s not suggesting you get rid of yours?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He bought it. I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s a Toyota. I\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You don\u2019t have to apologize. Is it a little truck? Toyota makes little things.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a Tacoma, yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Okay. You give it your best shot, but you log onto the website, read about global warming in the Essential Stack of Stuff, and then you take it to him, whatever you want to print out or try to remember. You\u2019ll dazzle him. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He\u2019ll say, ‘Where did you learn this?\u2019 Just tell him, ‘Dad, I go to school. I\u2019m an educated guy, and I want you to have what you want.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right. Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. By the way, what kind of SUV does he want?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He wants a Suburban Z-71.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good choice! He wants a General Motors Suburban. Well, by gosh, their Suburbans are great. Tell him that the president\u2019s security detail uses Suburbans. Tell him that every presidential candidate uses Suburbans to show up at public events, because it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s true. Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019re no better than he is, probably not as good. You have all kinds of ammo here. You gotta be confident, upbeat, optimistic! Don\u2019t be defensive.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yet be respectful. He is your father and you don\u2019t want to get spanked.<\/p>\n
