I\u2019m 23 years old, and my question to you is: Why can\u2019t we buy Mexico? I\u2019m sure there\u2019s some sort of reason, maybe financial or something, but it would be easier to control the Panama Canal than the entire Mexican border. <\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (Laughing.)<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (Giggles.) I\u2019m half joking of course, but &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: No, you\u2019re half joking but in every joke there\u2019s an element of truth.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Of course. Of course.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: So I think you\u2019re calling here wanting a serious answer as to why don\u2019t we just buy Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Right. I could ask my congressman, but he has to answer me as if I wasn\u2019t half joking, and I kind of am.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You know that\u2019s not going to happen.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Of course.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: That\u2019s not going to happen.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Of course. Of course I know that.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: The bigger problem is that Mexico is going to end up buying California for nothing and we\u2019re going to pay them.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (Giggles.)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: And then Arizona. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: We used to do this. We made the Louisiana Purchase. We bought parts of Mexico once. We bought California from them. Everybody thinks we invaded Mexico and conquered the territory, but we actually bought some things.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: That wasn\u2019t too bad, either.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You know real estate and what they say about it: location, location, location.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (Giggles.) Right.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: And there might be reasons for doing it, but we\u2019re not a country that has any visions of such expansion as we used to have, because now we have global interdependence and trade and so forth to take advantage of relationships. What I think what we ought to do is, for one thing, just give them back California.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (Giggles.)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: We\u2019ve already lost it anyway. Give them back California. Maybe call a truce. The California libs wouldn\u2019t mind. The California libs wouldn\u2019t mind. They\u2019d be happy to stay.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Absolutely! Sure! They would love to become Mexican citizens, and they could have it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: They can grant the right for the San Franciscans to secede.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: They could get rid of their bottles water. They wouldn\u2019t be able to drink water, and that would be the end of it there.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Now, now, now, now! <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (Giggles.)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Let\u2019s not go there.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: I just thought they want to be American citizens anyway, the Mexicans, so I thought they would be happy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125115.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"249\" height=\"331\" class=\"alignright\"\/>RUSH: Uh, uh, uh, see, you have once again fallen for the ruse.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Oooooooh, darn.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: The ones that we\u2019re talking about here, the illegal immigrants, they\u2019re not looking for citizenship. By definition, they\u2019re going around the law to become legally admitted to the country on a path to citizenship. They don\u2019t want citizenship, and the immigration bill was not going to grant them that. It was going to grant them immediate legal status, and the only reason they would incur fines or anything is if they sought citizenship which they\u2019re not going to do that. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Right. Okay.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: So this was not about citizenship. It was not about assimilation. That\u2019s the whole point.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: See, this is why I wanted to talk to you, because I get an entirely new mental perspective on everything. So thank you so much for your time. I appreciate it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: That\u2019s really nice of you to say. I appreciate that. <\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (Giggles.)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Thanks so much for the call, okay?
