RUSH:\u00a0 I\u2019m just gonna be honest here.\u00a0 I have had to work real hard today, folks, to not be bored by all of this shutdown jazz because we\u2019ve all been here.\u00a0 We\u2019ve been here since 1995 and we\u2019re going through the same damn routine.\u00a0 There is not a single thing different here from the Democrat side.\u00a0 The only thing different is we finally have a Republican Party pushing back<\/a>.\u00a0 But other than that, it\u2019s the same old, same old.<\/p>\n

And I almost decided, you know what?\u00a0 To hell with this today.\u00a0 I am not gonna get sidetracked and sucked into the same old formula.\u00a0 And then I realized there are people listening who haven\u2019t been listening since 1995 and I owe it to them to treat this as though I\u2019m just learning about it like they are.\u00a0 So here we go.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Because this stuff infuriates me.\u00a0 The Democrat Party embarrasses me, it infuriates me.\u00a0 The Democrat Party will sell this country down the road for political advantage no matter what.\u00a0 They are hypocrites of the first order, and they are never held accountable on it.<\/p>\n

\"\"This bill, the sum total, what we\u2019re dealing with, the Democrats have been offered everything they want, and they will not sign it, they will not go along with it.\u00a0 All it would take — well, I\u2019m getting ahead of myself.\u00a0 I\u2019m gonna try to stay organized on this.\u00a0 It\u2019s flat out amazing.\u00a0 They\u2019re getting everything they want.\u00a0 It\u2019s almost like when Clinton offered Yasser Arafat everything he wanted to get Middle East peace, and he walked away.\u00a0 The Democrats are walking away.<\/p>\n

You know why they walked away?\u00a0 They have to do something about the messaging that\u2019s out there now about the great economy and Wall Street and the tremendous impact the tax cuts are having.\u00a0 I think that Tim Cook\u2019s announcements yesterday are a huge factor in what Chuck Schumer and the Democrats are doing on this.<\/p>\n

Tim Cook is their guy.\u00a0 Tim Cook is in their corner.\u00a0 Tim Cook and all of Silicon Valley are their guys.\u00a0 And for Tim Cook to announce the largest capital investment in this country in a long time by anybody, 20,000 new jobs<\/a>, this is the stuff the Democrats don\u2019t want you to hear by focusing the media on this stupid shutdown.<\/p>\n

Twenty thousand new jobs, $2,500 stock bonuses for employees, a brand-new Apple campus somewhere to be built this year in this country.\u00a0 And there\u2019s Tim Cook in a six-minute story on ABC News crediting the tax cut for a large part of it, crediting Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve gotta get that message off the front page.\u00a0 They\u2019ve gotta get that message out of Yahoo News.\u00a0 They\u2019ve gotta make sure that doesn\u2019t get covered.\u00a0 They\u2019ve also gotta make sure that this FISA warrant memo that probably exposes the biggest political scandal in our lifetimes<\/a>, they\u2019ve gotta make sure that doesn\u2019t make it above the fold.\u00a0 They\u2019ve gotta make sure that doesn\u2019t show up on the front page or as a lead story on any cable news network or newspaper anywhere.<\/p>\n

\"\"So this shutdown business is nothing but a thorough, 100 percent distraction and an attempt to eliminate the positive messaging that has been out there all week long for Trump and the Republicans on the economy.\u00a0 Because the Democrats, when you talk about the election of 2018, don\u2019t have an agenda.\u00a0 Their agenda is Trump is a screw up.\u00a0 Their agenda is Trump is hated.\u00a0 We hate Trump, you hate Trump.\u00a0 Their agenda is Trump is insane, he\u2019s got Alzheimer\u2019s, he\u2019s gonna have a heart attack \u2019cause he eats McDonald\u2019s on the bed at night, all of that.<\/p>\n

They cannot permit a never-ending stream of great economic news and improving lifestyle news for most Americans.\u00a0 They cannot permit that.\u00a0 And so anything to change that message or eliminate it.\u00a0 And then, of course, this bombshell memo that exists that members of Congress have now read that makes it pretty clear that this opposition research document that Hillary Clinton bought and paid for was used to get a FISA warrant to spy on Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

You remember March of 2017 when Trump alluded to the fact that it was just not right for Obama to be tapping his wires in Trump Tower, and do you remember how everybody thought Trump\u2019s an idiot!\u00a0 You can\u2019t say that.\u00a0 There\u2019s no proof of that.\u00a0 There\u2019s no evidence that Obama\u2019s been spying on you.\u00a0 You\u2019re paranoid!\u00a0 You lunatic!\u00a0 The next day or shortly thereafter, Trump moves his headquarters out of Trump Tower and over to his golf club in Bedminster.<\/p>\n

He was right.\u00a0 He was being spied on.\u00a0 The FISA warrant permitted the Trump campaign and Trump himself and his transition to even be spied upon.\u00a0 So all of that\u2019s gotta be buried.\u00a0 All of that cannot come to life.\u00a0 And so here we are with another government shutdown.\u00a0 And, folks, the Democrats are getting everything they want.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re getting everything they want, and they\u2019re still refusing it.\u00a0 They want the government to shut down.\u00a0 They want people in this country to suffer.\u00a0 They want there to be pain.\u00a0 Because they are confident the Republicans are gonna get blamed for it.\u00a0 They are confident their buddies in the media will see to it the Republicans get the blame for this.<\/p>\n

\"\"This is all about causing pain and suffering.\u00a0 This is all about creating chaos and having the Republicans get blamed for it.\u00a0 And what\u2019s at stake in all of this?\u00a0 DACA kids, DREAMer kids, depending on the number, 800,000.\u00a0 All of this is being done for the sake of 800,000 illegal immigrants.\u00a0 When you strip it all away they\u2019re illegal immigrants because Obama\u2019s program is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n

As I pointed out earlier this week, the DACA program does not expire for three or four weeks.\u00a0 There is no reason to shut down the government now or ever.\u00a0 Trump extended the life of the program after saying he was gonna cancel it. A federal judge then came along and told Trump you can\u2019t cancel it even though it\u2019s unconstitutional. So the Trump administration DOJ is now at the Supreme Court begging them to take the case so that they can avoid the Ninth Circus Court of Appeals which would extend this thing for another nine months.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s another thing.\u00a0 It kind of bugs me the administration has to ask the Supreme Court.\u00a0 We\u2019re dealing with something that\u2019s clearly, blatantly unconstitutional.\u00a0 Trump canceled it, whacks it and here comes a federal judge out on California, “You can\u2019t do that.\u00a0 That\u2019s too hard on the kids.”\u00a0 The judge is unconstitutional, DACA, the deal that Obama did, is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n

But even with Trump\u2019s order to end it, it doesn\u2019t happen \u2019til March!\u00a0 The DACA kids were not gonna be deported this weekend.\u00a0 Nothing was gonna happen this weekend.\u00a0 This was purely a show by the Democrats to cause chaos.<\/p>\n

And the media\u2019s right in line.\u00a0 The media\u2019s gonna find the chaos the minute the shutdown begins.\u00a0 The media\u2019s already got the stories in the can.\u00a0 They\u2019ve already got interviews with government employees who haven\u2019t eaten in a week, who are dying of thirst, who went to the doctor and the doctor wouldn\u2019t let \u2019em in because of the government shut down.\u00a0 Kids in the homes of federal employees will be crying like little babies (crying), “Little Johnny, shut up.”<\/p>\n

“I can\u2019t, mommy, the Republicans shut down the government, I\u2019m starving.”\u00a0 They\u2019ve got the stories ready to go, with everybody blaming the Republicans for this.\u00a0 So where I want to start, I want to start with perhaps one of the most brilliant members of the Trump administration.\u00a0 He\u2019s the director of the Office of Management and Budget.\u00a0 His name is Mick Mulvaney.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>We have interviewed Mick Mulvaney for The Limbaugh Letter.<\/a>\u00a0 Mick Mulvaney is a proud Rush Baby<\/a>.\u00a0 Mick Mulvaney grew up listening to this program right along with his dad.\u00a0 He said so in the interview with The Limbaugh Letter.\u00a0 They sent him out today, had a briefing in the White House, to deal with the media on this. Office of Management and Budget.\u00a0 He knows the money in the federal government and particularly the administration\u2019s budget.\u00a0 And he promptly, in a brilliant messaging maneuver, labeled this shutdown the Schumer Shutdown.\u00a0 That\u2019s right.\u00a0 Name it.\u00a0 Because that\u2019s exactly what it is.<\/p>\n

But Mulvaney, remember, now, he\u2019s talking to an absolutely brain-dead press corps.\u00a0 They don\u2019t care what Mulvaney is saying.\u00a0 They\u2019re not attempting to learn from Mulvaney.\u00a0 Mulvaney is simply the latest administration figure that they are to attempt to disagree with, destroy, expose, what have you.\u00a0 So the press once again fails the people of this country by not even caring about being properly informed.\u00a0 The only thing the press cares about is the horse race here.\u00a0 The only thing they care about is will the Democrats succeed in blaming the Republicans?<\/p>\n

The press wants the shutdown.\u00a0 They\u2019ve got the little countdown clocks going.\u00a0 They can\u2019t wait for the shutdown.\u00a0 They\u2019re so excited! They\u2019re more excited over the shutdown than they are about Obama\u2019s election.\u00a0 They\u2019re more excited than they are over Christmas.\u00a0 Wait.\u00a0 They don\u2019t get excited about Christmas.\u00a0 They\u2019re salivating.\u00a0 They can\u2019t wait.\u00a0 So here is Mulvaney.\u00a0 We have two sound bites.\u00a0 Again, he\u2019s the director of the Office of Management and Budget talking about the potential shutdown.<\/p>\n

MULVANEY:\u00a0 The Democrats in the Senate are opposing a bill that they don\u2019t oppose. \u00a0They\u2019re for clean CRs. They\u2019re for the extension to the CHIP program.\u00a0 Many of them support the delay of taxes, most specifically the medical device tax, the Cadillac Tax especially.\u00a0 They don\u2019t oppose anything in the bill, but they are opposing the bill.\u00a0 I just want to let everybody know that we don\u2019t want this, we do not want a shutdown, but Mr. Schumer insists on it. He is in a position to force this on the American people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, hang on.\u00a0 I know a lot of you are probably asking, “Wait a minute, Rush.\u00a0 I don\u2019t get something.\u00a0 How can the Democrats make this happen when the Republicans run the show?\u00a0 How can the Democrats shut down the government if the Republicans own the House and if the Republicans run the Senate?”\u00a0 It\u2019s actually not a bad question — and I, of course, am the right person to answer it, and I\u2019ll do that in due course.<\/p>\n

But did you hear this?\u00a0 “The Democrats in the Senate are opposing a bill that they don\u2019t oppose.”\u00a0 They want clean continuing resolutions.\u00a0 This is one.\u00a0 They\u2019re for the extension of the Children\u2019s Health Insurance Program.\u00a0 It\u2019s in there.\u00a0 Many of them support the delay in some of the taxes, the medical device tax, the Cadillac Tax especially.\u00a0 It\u2019s in there.\u00a0 They don\u2019t oppose anything in the bill, but they are opposing it.<\/p>\n

And Mulvaney says, “We just want to let everybody know we, the Trump administration, the Republicans, don\u2019t want this shutdown. We do not want a shutdown, but Mr. Schumer is insisting on it.\u00a0 “He\u2019s in a position to force this on the American people.”\u00a0 The short answer on how he can do it is because there are a couple recalcitrant the Republicans who are gonna vote for him, Rand Paul and Lindsey Graham, if current counts hold.\u00a0 Here\u2019s the next Mulvaney bite…<\/p>\n
