CALLER: Yeah, okay. Thanks, Rush. I\u2019m sitting here listening to you, don\u2019t get to hear you a lot —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Edgar, Edgar, slow down just a little bit so I can understand.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Did you not — I\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, it\u2019s not your fault, it\u2019s mine. But I just need you to slow down a bit.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ll try to do that. Let me say this. You said that you had show prep and you had show performance. In your show performance you have just pooped in your nest and made really I think kind of a fool of yourself by telling us that these people that voted for cloture examined their conscience, did not want to stand in the way of amendments or debate on amendments. That is sophistry of the first order. Anyone who voted for cloture voted for amnesty. You know it, I know it, your informed listeners know it, and you are coming forward with this stuff about these people do it. There is no way this thing is going to pass in the Senate; we know it today; we know it right now. And you will not call these people\u2019s names. All you\u2019ve gotta do is this.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Let me ask you a question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hold it a minute.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Let me ask you a question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Calm down.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Name the senators that voted for cloture last time and didn\u2019t vote for cloture — and voted for cloture — voted for cloture last time —<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s because it\u2019s two different kinds of cloture. I\u2019m not justifying what they did. You\u2019re getting all upset here. You call here and tell me I just pooped in my pants and I have not done that since I was one and a half.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You did today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I did not. I\u2019m just trying to — we do analysis here. I don\u2019t see why they would vote for cloture today on these amendments specifically because none of the amendments put security before amnesty. I agree with you about this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s a done deal, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you mean it\u2019s a done deal?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Amnesty is coming out of the Senate. You know it, I know it, your informed listeners know it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I tried to tell you last week, I —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — this vote today that you\u2019re defending.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m not defending the vote, for crying —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Call their names and tell —<\/p>\n

RUSH: What are you listening to? I\u2019m not defending the vote, Edgar.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, Rush. Rush you are.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I am not. I am the wrong guy for you to get mad add here, Edgar. I am running America.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Well, I\u2019ll tell you what, I\u2019m going to vote against you next time then. In all friendship here because I called you since \u201988 when you came on, but listen, start calling the names and getting behind —<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019re gonna put \u2019em on the website, we\u2019re going to do that. Look, let me tell you something, Edgar, because you\u2019ve misunderstood here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This was a big vote today.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And those who voted the wrong way will not be forgotten, Edgar.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Call their names today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Snerdley, get the names. There were seven Republicans here, and five of them went the wrong way.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know who they are.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right, name \u2019em off.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All I\u2019m trying to tell you is depending on how this debate goes, some of these guys, it\u2019s their amendments, like Kit Bond and well, we know where Grahamnesty is going to be. It\u2019s entirely possible they\u2019ll change their votes on Thursday.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, no, no. That\u2019s not going to happen. You know it and I know it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know it; otherwise I wouldn\u2019t say it, if I did. If I thought it wasn\u2019t going to happen, I wouldn\u2019t say it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, now, I agree that there\u2019s people that voted for cloture today that will vote against the bill. That\u2019s like their lie to get out of being accused of voting for amnesty, and it\u2019s not an out. You know it and I know it. Am I wrong?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, no. I\u2019ve told you what this whole amendment thing was. The amendment thing was essentially a trick by the Democrat leadership and the White House to give these recalcitrant RINOs —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — as you call them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — something to latch onto and make a false promise, ‘Okay, you want your amendment? We\u2019ll give you your amendment.\u2019 I just last hour said these amendments are never going to pass.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, they\u2019re not, and they\u2019re going to have a vote, and you know they\u2019ve got the votes when they bring it up, it\u2019s going to pass. You know it and I know it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, the bottom line is, the bill was revived today, and it was dead before today.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It ain\u2019t dead —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You see no justification for it being revived. The reason it was revived was insider Washington politics.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: These guys are hanging on —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — for as many goodies as they can get in exchange for their votes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What in the world here am I saying, Edgar, that\u2019s got you all upset with me? I\u2019m just trying to explain to you —<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s because you\u2019re defending these people —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I was not defending them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You are!<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. What I said was, I can understand why some of these guys might think that there is safety in voting for cloture today because they don\u2019t want to be seen voting against debate in the amendment.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Give me a break. That is sophistry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s not sophistry. That\u2019s brilliant analysis. I\u2019m not agreeing with them. I\u2019m just saying it\u2019s a possibility.<\/p>\n

CALLER: There\u2019s a lot of guys voted for cloture today are going to vote against it but they know that it\u2019s a done deal and they were paid to do it today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, well —<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know it, I know it, your informed listeners know it, and I hope somebody else will call and tell you that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (Laughing) I thought you said my former listeners.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, no, no. You\u2019ve got a lot of listeners, and I\u2019m not going to hang up. I\u2019m gonna keep listening to you even if I cuss you every now and then when I hear you. But you\u2019re my friend. I appreciate everything you\u2019re doing, but you\u2019ve gotta get off drinking this Republican Party Kool-Aid.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You have to look at the full body of evidence in my work here, Edgar. And here I say one thing in the last three months about this and you\u2019re willing to throw out the two months and 29 days of what you know I said, now you got one day here where you heard me say in one segment something that you\u2019ve misunderstood.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I\u2019m a portrait artist. I\u2019m in my studio all day; I listen to talk radio. I watch about six, eight hours of talking heads on TV. I know what\u2019s happening in Washington, not maybe as well as you do, but I know and you know what happened, and it\u2019s a done deal, and the guys that voted for cloture today voted for amnesty.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Edgar, okay, let\u2019s move beyond that point. What you are going to do next, if it\u2019s a done deal, and there\u2019s nothing that can be done to stop it, what are you going to do next?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Call another talk radio and complain, I guess.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. There is no other talk radio, Edgar. Why do you want to complain? What are you going to accomplish by complaining?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, maybe I should just fold my tent and forget about it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s what you\u2019re doing when you\u2019re pronouncing it with no chance of killing this —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, no, no.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — you folded the tent. If anybody, I ought to be calling you and chewing you out and accusing you of pooping in your pants because of fear. Because you\u2019re giving up here. I\u2019m not giving up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: One thing, talk radio can do this, start naming instances in Republicans and ferret these people out, call their names, just like the media, call their names consistently ongoing. Hagel. Talk about — I\u2019m losing my confidence in my words here.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re not losing your confidence. Everybody knows Chuck Hagel is on the wrong side. That\u2019s not one of the names you need to mention because nobody would be surprised by that name. Edgar, I\u2019ve enjoyed this immensely, thoroughly have, I appreciate your phone call.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You are the king.<\/p>\n

RUSH:. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Just comments about this talk radio stuff. A quick thing is, talk radio was — what\u2019s the word for it? They were ignored by all the liberal media. They took over universities; they took over Hollywood and everything else, and they deemed radio as insignificant — until you came along. You took talk radio.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re right. We were able to sneak up on them because they had all those other institutions.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, they disregarded it. They didn\u2019t think anything of talk radio. There was nothing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right. They had the networks, and they had the newspapers.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They had everything. But your popularity stems from the fact that you annunciate brilliantly the conservative position.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Bingo.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But you\u2019re saying what the people are believing, and there was no other avenue out there for people to have someone annunciate what they were feeling, and you did it, and you were brilliant at it, and your power grew.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait. What was this ‘were\u2019?<\/p>\n

CALLER: What?<\/p>\n

RUSH: What was this ‘was brilliant\u2019 at it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry. You are brilliant. (laughs) Excuse me, Rush. Sorry!<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, you\u2019re very kind. I appreciate that, and you\u2019re very perceptive. You\u2019ve come up with a new way of describing how we destroyed their monopoly.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because they had a monopoly. I can\u2019t thank you enough for the nice things you said about why the program has the popularity that it does. I\u2019m never going to be able to adequately thank those of you in this audience for what your listenership here has meant to me and my family and all that. I will always try, but I don\u2019t think there\u2019s a sufficient way to do it. But I appreciate that, Sal. Thanks so much. We have to close it out here, folks.
