RUSH:\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 So how many of you got an alert just now on the RushLimbaugh.com app saying the show was coming up<\/a>?\u00a0 Right on!\u00a0 Greetings, my friends.\u00a0And the notification was right because here we are, happily so, kicking off a brand-new week of broadcast excellence at 800-282-2882, and the email address, ElRushbo@eibnet.us.<\/p>\n

You know, I mentioned on this program countless times that one of — you know, we all have pet peeves.\u00a0 And one of my biggest pet peeves is arrogant condescension.\u00a0 People who know less than I do who think they know more than everybody else, and they\u2019re arrogant about it.\u00a0 And then they condescend, treat you like you\u2019re an idiot, treat you like you can\u2019t possibly know what you\u2019re talking about.<\/p>\n

The second — and it\u2019s kind of related — the second pet peeve that I have is people insulting my intelligence, and it happens frequently.\u00a0 And we are in the midst of it right now with this explanation of what happened in Hawaii with the, “Oops, the guy hit the wrong button!”\u00a0 And for 34 minutes, the people of Hawaii thought they were dead.\u00a0 Yeah, he hit the wrong button twice.<\/p>\n

Have any of you — don\u2019t do this if you haven\u2019t — have any of you on your iPhone ever had to erase the whole thing for whatever reason to start over?\u00a0 It\u2019s called settings, general, reset.\u00a0 And there are many different things you can reset.\u00a0 You can reset network settings, you can reset the whole damn thing, which means that you are going to erase everything on the phone.\u00a0 You have to confirm that a minimum of three times.<\/p>\n

\"\"Apple will not let you do that accidentally.\u00a0 And it\u2019s an iPhone and there\u2019s not a single nuclear code on an iPhone.\u00a0 All there is is your personal data.\u00a0 All of your passwords, your settings, whatever is on the phone, if you have to erase it, which you can do, you will get three different alerts asking you if that\u2019s what you really intend to do, if you\u2019re really certain about it. And there are areas like this all over the iPhone.<\/p>\n

There is a feature that hardly anybody knows about.\u00a0 It\u2019s well hidden.\u00a0 It happens to be one of my favorite features that Apple will not divulge anything about.\u00a0 It\u2019s called significant locations.\u00a0 I\u2019m not even gonna bother to tell you where it is.\u00a0 That\u2019s not the point.\u00a0 But you can clear the location history from your phone if you want to.\u00a0 Your phone records, where you\u2019ve been.\u00a0 I happen to think that\u2019s marvelous and magic and great and I love it.\u00a0 And I use it.\u00a0 Other people are paranoid about it.\u00a0 They think Tim Cook is spying on everything they do, just like Zuckerberg spying on every Facebook user and the Twitter people — (laughing) it turns out the Twitter people are spying on you!\u00a0 O\u2019Keefe has yet another video from Project Veritas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re collecting everything at Twitter on you, everything, including your photos.\u00a0 They\u2019re creating a sexual file of all of their users.\u00a0 They\u2019re creating a data file on everybody at Twitter, by their own admission.\u00a0 More details on that.\u00a0 Anyway, if you want to clear your location. Let\u2019s say you have effectively been made paranoid about your phone recording where you\u2019ve been.\u00a0 And you find out about it, “Oh, no, I want to get rid of that.”\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 You go into significant locations, and you tap on “clear history.”<\/p>\n

You will have to do it three times.\u00a0 You\u2019ll have to confirm that\u2019s what you want to do three times. Just like if you want to erase the whole phone, you\u2019ll have to confirm that three times.\u00a0“Are you sure you want to?”\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 “Are you really, really sure?\u00a0 This is gonna erase everything on your phone, and you can\u2019t go back and undo this.\u00a0 Are you sure you want to do it?”\u00a0 You tap “yes.”<\/p>\n

It comes back, “Do you really know what you\u2019re doing here?\u00a0 Are you certain that you want to take this phone and make it like it\u2019s brand-new out of the box?”\u00a0 And yet we\u2019re told that on a nuclear warning test, the guy hit the wrong button twice.\u00a0 We\u2019re now told the guy hasn\u2019t been fired.\u00a0 He\u2019s barely been reprimanded.\u00a0 We don\u2019t know his name.\u00a0 He\u2019s going to be reassigned.<\/p>\n

Now, all of this insults my intelligence, because, folks, I simply don\u2019t believe this.\u00a0 I don\u2019t believe that there are buttons or computer keys that, you know, a drop-down menu that says nuclear test, nuclear test warning, nuclear test this.\u00a0 When you look what it takes to launch nuclear weapons, I don\u2019t think very many people know that, but there\u2019s a guy that follows the president everywhere he goes, doesn\u2019t matter where he is, that guy is there.\u00a0 And he\u2019s carrying a suitcase.\u00a0 It\u2019s called the football.\u00a0 You\u2019ve all heard this.<\/p>\n

\"\"The football has the nuclear launch codes.\u00a0 To launch nuclear weapons, I mean, it can\u2019t be done instantly.\u00a0 That\u2019s why all this talk about a button on a desk is ridiculous, too, because that\u2019s not how it happens.\u00a0 The codes change I don\u2019t know how often, multiple times a day, every day, or what have you.\u00a0 The president has to authorize it, the football carrier has to authorize it, and the person receiving the codes has to go through an authorization process.\u00a0 And we\u2019re told, “Ah, the guy hit the wrong button.”<\/p>\n

I just can\u2019t accept this, not within the context of everything that has gone on that has been originated in or perpetrated by the American left and our administrative state.\u00a0 The Hawaii emergency management administrator, Vern Miyagi, reported one of his employees clicked the wrong button twice, said, “It\u2019s embarrassing, but again, it\u2019s a mistake.”<\/p>\n

Why hasn\u2019t it happened before?\u00a0 If it\u2019s this easy to make this kind of mistake, why hasn\u2019t it happened before?\u00a0 And why did it take 34 minutes to correct this mistake?\u00a0 People were living in abject fear, except for one guy who kept playing golf.\u00a0 I like that guy.\u00a0 He said (paraphrasing), “Even if it\u2019s true, I\u2019m going out doing what I love.\u00a0 To hell with it.\u00a0 I\u2019m not hiding in some sewer drain.”\u00a0 But that\u2019s what people were doing.\u00a0 They were hiding their kids everywhere they could. I mean, for 34 minutes the Hawaii emergency management administration allowed abject fear to percolate in the state of Hawaii.<\/p>\n

“Vern Miyagi, the administrator, said, that he “was supposed to select the option for a drill.\u00a0 Instead, he chose the real thing twice.\u00a0 ‘A missile may impact on land or sea within minutes. This is not a drill.'”\u00a0 Grab audio sound bite number 17.\u00a0 Here is what it sounded like…<\/p>\n

VOICE:\u00a0 The U.S. Pacific Command has detected a missile threat to Hawaii.\u00a0 A missile may impact on land or sea within minutes.\u00a0 This is not a drill.\u00a0 If you are indoors, say indoors.\u00a0 If you are outdoors, seek immediate shelter in a building.\u00a0 Remain indoors well away from windows.\u00a0 If you are driving, pull safely to the side of the road and seek shelter in a building or lay on the floor.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 All right. Are you kidding?<\/p>\n

VOICE:\u00a0 We will announce when the threat has ended.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Come on now.<\/p>\n

VOICE: This is not a drill.\u00a0 Take immediate action measures.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH:\u00a0 There isn\u2019t anything you could do. Folks, this is so silly.\u00a0 Get inside a building?\u00a0 This is as dumb as they told us in the fifties, “Hide under your desks, children!” There\u2019s nothing… If you\u2019re in a building, stay away from windows? Do you know how hot…? Hawaii would be turned 10,000 gazillion degrees! It doesn\u2019t matter where you\u2019re… You would vaporize.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing you could do. (interruption) Of course they were lying to us when they told us get to under the desk!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no surviving a nuclear detonation.\u00a0 There\u2019s no surviving a detonation if it\u2019s a dead hit much less less intense than that.\u00a0 But the temperature alone, the concussion of the explosion, you would just cease to be there.\u00a0 Everything would just cease to be there — except the roaches.\u00a0 They would survive, and then Hawaii would become, you know, a hellhole.\u00a0 (interruption) No, no.\u00a0 They… (interruption)\u00a0 Back in the fifties… (interruption) I know.\u00a0 Hiding under the desk was to keep from going blind.\u00a0 They\u2019re not gonna tell us to not sweat it; you\u2019re gonna be vaporized.<\/p>\n

My point is, is there an advantage…? Let\u2019s look at this the other way.\u00a0 Remember, everything has been politicized, folks.\u00a0 Does it anybody benefit from this episode? (interruption) Who?\u00a0 Who benefits? (interruption) Let me tell you, there are people… If you watch the Late Show with Colbert, he has an ongoing routine about the world ending because of Donald Trump.\u00a0 Now, I received an award. I was the keynote speaker at a Media Research Center event back last fall.\u00a0 It was in September.<\/p>\n

In fact, it was the night before the iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus were released.\u00a0 I almost told Bozell, “I can\u2019t make it because the iPhone\u2019s coming out the next day.” But I went, and as part of the part of the evening they show the funniest, the most outrageous, the stupidest, the dumbest, the most ridiculous video clips of Drive-By Media commentators, journalists, and analysts, and the stupid things they say, and everybody uproariously laughs.<\/p>\n

So I watched this, and when I was introduced to speak, I said, “Folks, we all laugh at this, but there\u2019s something you have to know: They believe it.\u00a0 They believe what you and I think is insane.\u00a0 They believe what you and I laugh at, and I\u2019m here to tell you.” I got a note from somebody over the weekend about the bifurcation of America in terms of media.\u00a0 I\u2019ve even got a couple sound bites about this today.<\/p>\n

A friend of mine said that a friend of hers went to a dinner party last week, and most of the attendees were people that literally hate Donald Trump.\u00a0 And the dinner party featured two people who were Trump supporters, two or three people. It resulted in the dinner party was nothing more than a bunch of people shouting at each other, and the people that hate Trump — are you ready for this? — had never heard of Fusion GPS<\/a>.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t have the slightest idea what that is.\u00a0 They had never heard of Glenn Simpson.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>They had never heard of Christopher Steele.\u00a0 Now, of course you and I know all of those things and people.\u00a0 We know who they are.\u00a0 We know what Fusion GPS is.\u00a0 They don\u2019t.\u00a0 Why not?\u00a0 Their media does not report anything that is in any way derogatory, defamatory, or even critical of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama or the Obama administration.\u00a0 The media today (the mainstream so-called media) is nothing but 100% Never Trump, and they embellish every paranoid fantasy and fear that the left has.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t doubt me on this.\u00a0 There are more people in this country than you would believe who literally believe Donald Trump is going to start a nuclear war, that the earth is going to end either because of climate change or Donald Trump, whichever makes it happen first.\u00a0 We see this; we laugh at it.\u00a0 They believe it.\u00a0 These people have demonstrated for the past year and a half that they are entirely unglued.\u00a0 And I\u2019m not talking just about average, ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m talking about people in the Democrat Party, people in the deep state administrative state that are Obama holdovers. They are unhinged.\u00a0 They cannot believe Trump got elected.\u00a0 They think he\u2019s the worst example of humanity they have ever seen.\u00a0 He\u2019s unfit. He\u2019s unqualified.\u00a0 They\u2019re beside themselves.\u00a0 Many people on the so-called conservative side, the Never Trumpers, think the same way.\u00a0 And it\u2019s not abstract, folks.\u00a0 They literally believe…<\/p>\n

We watch all media.\u00a0 We read all media.\u00a0 We know what they\u2019re watching.\u00a0 We know what they think because we expose ourselves to it.\u00a0 They don\u2019t.\u00a0 For the most part, they don\u2019t listen to conservative talk radio.\u00a0 They don\u2019t read or consult other conservative media. They just don\u2019t. It just makes them too uncomfortable.\u00a0 It makes them feel “unsafe.”\u00a0 They live in their protected little cocoons, and all they do is Saturday Night Live and the various leftist cable channels.<\/p>\n

And they have an ongoing, literal fear of what is going to happen to America because of Donald Trump, because that\u2019s what their media tells them every day.\u00a0 The way to try to understand this is watch CNN now and then or watch MSNBC. The most outrageous, stupid, harebrained, insane, unrealistic, paranoid things that you hear and see, they believe!\u00a0 So it is not hard for me to understand, not hard for me to believe that there\u2019s some lunatic in the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency who literally believes that Donald Trump is the worst human being ever born, the worst president ever, and people need to know what he\u2019s going to do.<\/p>\n

I do not doubt that there is a level of unhinged insanity at the highest levels of government that you would think this kind of behavior would be weeded out and nobody would be there.\u00a0 They are being driven insane each and every day.\u00a0 As each day comes and goes and Trump survives, they become even more unglued and unhinged.\u00a0 So the possibility that some deranged lunatic did this on purpose to try to show people, to try to warn people, to try to give people a heads-up about what could happen out there?<\/p>\n

I would totally believe it if this were to be discovered and reported.\u00a0 It would make total sense with everything else that\u2019s happened in the past year and a half.\u00a0 I mean, we\u2019re relying on a fake dossier bought and paid for by Hillary Clinton that is filled with made-up allegations, none of it corroborated.\u00a0 We probably have all of these investigations taking place because of it.\u00a0 We have probably the Trump campaign and transition team spied on by virtue of a FISA warrant using this dossier.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t that long ago that this kind of thing, nobody would think is possible.\u00a0 “People are too responsible in these positions.\u00a0 These are very jobs in important positions in law enforcement.\u00a0 This is too important.”\u00a0 But they have been corrupted by their own hatred, by their own misery, by their own depression, the fact they can\u2019t get rid of Trump, the fact they couldn\u2019t beat Trump, the fact that Trump survives them every day.<\/p>\n

It would be easier to describe the American left the last year and a half as completely, totally unhinged and insane than describe them as normal, predictable, “This is the way it\u2019s always been.”\u00a0 It\u2019s not the way it\u2019s always been!\u00a0 Thirty-four minutes and he hit the wrong button twice?\u00a0 You can\u2019t find probably maybe 200 conservatives in the whole state of Hawaii, except maybe for the military.<\/p>\n

I think there are a lot of people out there who are happy that this at least didn\u2019t happen while President Trump was watching Fox & Friends and instead it happened when he was out on the golf course and he was informed about this by layers of advisers and such. Because we know that historically, misunderstandings and false alarms have almost led to nuclear confrontation, nuclear war.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 So it\u2019s a good thing this idiot was playing golf and not watching Fox & Friends, \u2019cause if Trump had been watching Fox News and seen it there, he would have called the football guy in and launched on North Korea.\u00a0 You tell me they\u2019re not thinking about this.<\/p>\n

Do you think that the Hawaii emergency management administration would say, “Sorry. We have a Never Trump guy here who literally hates Trump. He lost his mind and he wanted to try to warn people what he thinks the president might cause.”<\/p>\n

Of course they would never say that. Of course they\u2019re gonna say it was a mistake, a 37-minute mistake, hit the wrong button twice. They could never say that. So it\u2019s gonna be easy to say, “That would never happen. That would never be the case.” But, my friends, there are too many oddball, kooky things that have gone on the last year and a half, I mean, some of the deranged — like now, it\u2019s Martin Luther King Day. And guess what? The NAALCP says you can no longer support Dr. King\u2019s version of civil rights without also being a supporter of the belief in climate change, that climate change and Dr. King are inseparable.<\/p>\n

Now, you want to tell me that that\u2019s credible? You want to tell me that that\u2019s adjusted and sane? Do you want to tell me that that makes any sense whatsoever? You want to tell me that any climate change argument they make makes any sense? Really, am I the only person who thought this is possible given what we know about the kooks on the left?<\/p>\n

These people have lost their marbles over Trump. They have lost, you know, I call it sanity. They\u2019ve lost their grounding. Their minds are generally being chipped away by their own poisonous rage and disappointment. Wait \u2019til you hear this. I got this funny story about what Samantha Power did on election night. I mean, folks, these people are — I don\u2019t know how to adequately describe this beyond, I mean, unhinged and unglued I think is perfect. That\u2019s why I keep repeating it.<\/p>\n

Well, how many times have you heard some leftist kook caterwaul about his or her fear that Trump is certain to start a nuclear war because he\u2019s so stupid, because he doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s doing, because he\u2019s unfit, because he\u2019s unqualified? There is a CBS Radio promo for Colbert\u2019s late-night CBS TV program where Colbert says, “If the world ends, Trump will be a one-term president.” Leftist comedy shows are not comedy anymore. They\u2019re really rooted in anger and rage.<\/p>\n

But the other thing that we learn that is kind of surprising is just what a bunch of sponges your average, ordinary American citizen leftists have become. They\u2019re unquestioning; they\u2019re unchallenging; they\u2019re uncurious or incurious; they simply believe whatsoever outrageous impossibility is reported to them in the only media that they consume.<\/p>\n

Now, I think daily, unhinged behavior requires us to be a little cynical about these people. Otherwise it was just some good, innocent soul that pressed the wrong button a couple times, right? That\u2019s all it really was. There\u2019s nothing to see here. Yeah. It just hasn\u2019t happened before, but there could be explanations for that. And apparently there weren\u2019t any fail-safes? How can that be when, as I say, you have to confirm three times you want to erase your iPhone before they will let you do it.<\/p>\n

This is from Reuters: “Human error and a lack of adequate fail-safe measures during a civil defense warning drill led to the false missile alert that stirred panic –” You think it took \u2019em 37 minutes to figure out that it was a mistake? What took 37 minutes to comprehend this? Depending on where the missile was theoretically launched from, it would have hit before they got the correction out, theoretically.<\/p>\n

Thirty-seven minutes, no fail-safe or inadequate fail-safe measures. (interruption) You can believe a lack of adequate fail-safe measures? You can believe it? You can believe that it took \u2019em 37 minutes to realize it was false? You mean to tell me that for 30 minutes they thought it was real? Look at this the other way. It took 37 minutes to figure — let\u2019s give \u2019em two minutes to get the correction, so 35 minutes.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s give \u2019em 35 minutes to figure out that they had made a mistake? (interruption) Okay, it\u2019s government. How many layers did they have to go through, how many bureaucracies did they have to wake up, how many — right. And double check with this one or that one. So you\u2019re trying to make the case that it literally could take 35 minutes to discover this was a mistake?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an incoming nuclear missile! Thirty-five minutes, you want to try to make the case that it is reasonable and understandable given the level of bureaucracy, it\u2019s understandable and reasonable it would take them 35 minutes to admit somebody made a mistake? Not reasonable, but believable, you say, on a false warning of an incoming nuclear missile.<\/p>\n

Well, okay. Since the guy hit the wrong button twice, was there anybody monitoring the missile that was incoming? I\u2019m just saying, was somebody monitoring the incoming missile? If it took \u2019em 35 minutes to figure out it wasn\u2019t true, were they tracking the incoming missile? I mean, their procedures were working well enough to tell people to hide in the sewer drains. Their proceedures are working well enough to tell people to get their kids in buildings and away from glass.<\/p>\n

So did they call over to the Big Island at Mauna Kea and say, “On your satellites and warning systems, is there a missile coming?” And everybody assumes it\u2019s North Korea, right? Where was the missile? How long did it take \u2019em to track the missile and find out it wasn\u2019t there? And when they couldn\u2019t find the missile, did they say, “Wow, it must be stealth”? When they couldn\u2019t find the missile, did they still believe it was there? Thirty-five minutes.<\/p>\n

Here is Tulsi Gabbard, who is a House member from Hawaii that was on with George Soros on ABC This Week. Question: “Do you believe Trump should be speaking directly to the leader of North Korea?” Do you think this is just coincidental? We have a false, phony warning, and within minutes we\u2019ve got a House member from Hawaii being asked if Trump ought to get on the phone and call Kim Jong-un right now. You really want to tell me that this is how — and this is the first thing they thought of when they discovered there was no incoming missile, it was a false alarm because of a button hit wrong twice, we need to Trump to get on the phone to Kim Jong.<\/p>\n

Why? Because Trump is the problem? Remember when Reagan was president — do not doubt me on this — when Reagan was president, the American left believed he was gonna end the world. They believed he was irresponsible. He was a cowboy. He made jokes about the evil empire and the bombing starting in five minutes, and that drove them battily insane.<\/p>\n

\"\"And so when Mikhail Gorbachev came to the United States, he came to Washington 1986 for a summit with Reagan, the American left had a gigantic sigh of relief, because the savior of the world was finally coming to stop Reagan from hitting the nuclear button. Gorbachev was the savior. That\u2019s why I coined the term “Gorbasms” to describe what they experienced, the American left, when Gorbachev arrived, got off the plane at Joint Base Andrews. Back then it was known as Andrews Air Force Base. But the same thing, folks. They thought Reagan was gonna nuke everything. And it was Mikhail Gorbachev of the deadly and murderous Soviet Union who was gonna save the world from Ronald Reagan.<\/p>\n

And now Tulsi Gabbard wants Trump to get on the phone with Kim Jong-un so that Kim Jong-un can talk Trump out of it?\u00a0 Let\u2019s see.\u00a0 Let\u2019s listen to what she says.\u00a0 The question again:\u00a0 “You think Trump should be speaking directly to the leader of North Korea?”<\/p>\n

GABBARD:\u00a0 Absolutely and immediately.\u00a0 This is something that I\u2019ve been calling for for a long time.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been talking about the seriousness of this threat posed to the people of Hawaii and this country coming from North Korea.\u00a0 The people of Hawaii are paying the price now for decades of failed leadership in this country.<\/p>\n
