CALLER: Hi, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi. I was just calling about this immigration bill because last night I got an e-mail response from Kennedy response team, and I was so angry when I read it. I just couldn\u2019t believe it, it was so condescending.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I had written saying, you know, that I was against this bill, and then this e-mail comes in three weeks later saying basically that I\u2019m too stupid to know. It says it\u2019s too complex of an issue and that these are hard-working people that need —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Please don\u2019t exaggerate this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am not exaggerating.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Did that letter from Ted Kennedy actually say that the issue is too complex for you to understand?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It says it\u2019s too complex of an issue. I\u2019m not in front of my computer. I wish I knew how to send you a copy of it. But it\u2019s too complex of an issue. There\u2019s too many things in it that, you know, are just hard to understand, and these are hard-working people that we need to have, and our country\u2019s all for immigration and we need to, you know, kind of go with his plan there. I just couldn\u2019t believe it. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know what\u2019s interesting about that is — because what I hear these people complaining about is, ‘Well, they haven\u2019t read the bill. If they\u2019d read the bill they\u2019d understand what a great bill it is.\u2019 People have read the bill! Have you noticed…? Now Ted Kennedy is sending e-mails out that it\u2019s too complex an issue to be understood? Let me get to the bottom line here. Have you noticed that none of the proponents want to go anywhere to debate the details of this with the opponents of the bill? They\u2019ll be glad to talk to you about overarching principles and they\u2019ll be glad to talk to you about it\u2019s not amnesty, and they\u2019ll be glad to go on television and insult the opponents as nativists or racists or bigots or anti-Hispanic, anti-Latino or what have you. They will not debate the details of this. <\/p>\n

One other thing. Charles Krauthammer <\/a>— by the way, Krauthammer is doing a little bit of a 180, on this. Krauthammer has not been, quote, unquote, a total opponent of this. In fact, he\u2019s been largely for it, but even Krauthammer is coming around saying wait a minute. The one thing that he\u2019s figured out looking at this debate is that everybody says — and this is the key — they support border security. Well, if everybody who\u2019s saying that is being honest about it, then let\u2019s really do that first and nothing else and then come back and get with all the other stuff. The opponents don\u2019t even want to do that. One of the reasons is some of those who are saying that they are for border security are simply saying it and don\u2019t mean it. It\u2019s quite telling, on a complex bill, too complex to be understood, why, we\u2019re too stupid, but yet if we read the bill, we would like it. We would see what\u2019s in it. See, we on talk radio, we are lying to you about it, and that\u2019s something to be ‘dealt with.\u2019 You know, we are ‘running the country.\u2019 But even with all that, the people who are very much in favor of this, will go nowhere and debate it on the details. They know what would happen to them if they did.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
