CALLER: Thank you. My question\u2019s very simple. Do you ever think President Trump will just say, “That\u2019s it, I\u2019ve had enough. I can\u2019t take all this lying, back-stabbing,” or whatever you want to call it and just say, “I\u2019ve had enough.”<\/p>\n
RUSH: No. That\u2019s not at all how I interpret President Trump. I, in fact, interpret him as being of the opposite frame of mind, steeled and ready to expose all of these people for who and what they are. Are you worried he\u2019s gonna quit? Is that where your question is coming from?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Me personally, no. I couldn\u2019t put up with what he\u2019s putting up with. But he gets support from yourself and very few people publicly, and that\u2019s where I think — the man has nothing to prove to anyone. He\u2019s fighting —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Let me ask you a question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me ask you a question. The New York Times reported over the weekend that Donald Trump doesn\u2019t show up to the office \u2019til after 9:30 or 10, that he watches eight hours of TV during the day, and that\u2019s what determines what he tweets and what he says. That the staff can\u2019t get him to spend enough time in the Oval Office to get any work done, and that he\u2019s basically bored and increasingly alone. Do you believe that Trump doesn\u2019t get to work \u2019til 9:30 or 10 in the morning and watches eight hours of TV during the day? Do you believe that when you read that?<\/p>\n
CALLER: No. I don\u2019t believe it at all.<\/p>\n
RUSH: What\u2019s Trump doing when he tweets at 4:30 or 5 o\u2019clock in the morning? Has he got an automatic app that tweets his dreams while he sleeps? I mean, how does somebody tweet at 4:30 or 5 o\u2019clock, even 5:30 in the morning? Who are the sources telling these New York Times people this gobbledygook? I actually think it fires him up.<\/p>\n
You know, it\u2019s a tough thing. I know why you\u2019re thinking this, because you\u2019re putting yourself in Trump\u2019s shoes, and you can\u2019t imagine every day being filled with so much undisguised hatred for you, especially when you are a person that wants to be liked. And Trump is definitely that. But I don\u2019t think that — it may dispirit him. I think it\u2019s the human aspect that any person — I mean, nobody relishes this kind of stuff. I\u2019ve often said nobody is born wanting to be polarizing or hated or controversial. It\u2019s to the contrary.<\/p>\n
Everybody wants to be loved. Everybody\u2019s parents want their kid to be loved. Every kid wants to be loved and adored and popular. Nobody, “Little Johnny, what do you want to be when you grow up?” “I want to be hated. I want everybody to hate me so much, I think that would be so much fun.” You never hear that. And it\u2019s a psychological challenge. I mean, you have to learn to take this kind of pure, raw hatred as a measure of success. And not everybody can do that.
