Welcome, sir. Great to have you with us. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Hi, Rush. Thanks for taking my call. You do a wonderful job. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Thank you. I appreciate that. That\u2019s because I\u2019m a thinking, involved, engaged person. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: I think I am too. What I called about is recently they decided to rate movies based on the amount of smoking in them as well as sex and violence. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/01125110.Par.89380.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"224\" height=\"313\" class=\"alignright\"\/>RUSH: I think if it\u2019s pervasive or if smoking is glamorized, then it\u2019s going to get an R rating. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: So what came to mind is the whole generation of us in the 30s and 40s that learned to smoke because of Bogey and Bacall, and I think it\u2019s about time we sued &#8212; maybe we could get Edwards to sue &#8212; the movie industry for getting us all to smoke, because now they\u2019ve admitted to culpability to it. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Well, now, that\u2019s an interesting concept. As litigious as our society is and as many tort lawyers as there are out there chasing ambulances, I\u2019ll bet your comment is reverberating. The problem is most tort lawyers are rabid Democrats &#8212; and, of course, most Hollywood types are rabid Democrats. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Get them to fight each other. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: You gotta ask the question, &#8216;Will ideology trump the quest for bucks?\u2019 <\/line><\/p>\n<p>CALLER: There you go.<\/p>\n<p><BR\/>RUSH: But you know what will happen with this, if this ever does happen, this is the rating. Hollywood is not <emphasize>admitting <\/emphasize>anything here. It\u2019s the motion picture rating, whatever it is. They\u2019re the ones that are doing this, and they\u2019ll just slough this off to Big Tobacco. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: It just brought it to mind because I was taught for years that it was really because of the movie industry that we smoke.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: It still is. There\u2019s no question. Look, I watch movies. They light up and they look cool. They look sophisticated. Yes, there\u2019s no question. They put stuff in movies on purpose.
