RUSH: Oh, by the way, speaking of this, I meant to mention this in the opening half hour of the program. I didn\u2019t get to it. This controversy over Trump\u2019s tweets about the three UCLA basketball players. A bunch of people are coming out saying this proves that Trump is racist. What did Trump say in these tweets?<\/p>\n

He said (paraphrasing), “Look, they were in jail for shoplifting. It\u2019s a serious crime in China, as it should be. Maybe I should have just left \u2019em there, if they\u2019re not gonna have any gratitude thanking me, maybe I should have just left \u2019em there.” And one of them\u2019s dad is LaVar Ball. “What was he over there for? Don\u2019t tell me nothing. Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out.”<\/p>\n

So now they\u2019re saying that Trump\u2019s tweet about maybe leaving \u2019em in jail is racist? And that anybody who attempts to defend Trump\u2019s tweet is also racist? I mean, these muckrakers at Media Matters just lying in wait for anybody. What is racist about it?<\/p>\n
See, this is exactly what I\u2019m talking about. It\u2019s the left that is not colorblind. It\u2019s the left that pursues issues based on skin color or gender or what have you, while claiming to be nonjudgmental and tolerant and open-minded. They\u2019re the exact opposite. I\u2019ve had people say, “You know, Trump\u2019s tweet, it was kind of irresponsible, Rush. I mean, that\u2019s really not presidential.”<\/p>\n
Once again, I have to dissent from that a little bit. I think this is just another example of how Trump happens to capture — what this is about is gratitude. It isn\u2019t about race.
