CALLER: Hey, mega cornhusker dittos, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey I was wondering. What\u2019s going to happen if there is a total stalemate and Congress never gives funding to the troops and just keeps attaching this baloney to the legislation?<\/p>\n

RUSH: There won\u2019t be a stalemate.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What if there were, where will we get the funds?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I don\u2019t believe in IF. <\/emphasize>If is for children. We could play the game. I\u2019ll play the game with you. Let me answer your question seriously. They\u2019re not going to de-fund the war. Carl Levin has said so. Mrs. Clinton, in a story in The Hill newspaper yesterday, said that it\u2019s going to be impossible to override the president\u2019s veto and they\u2019re not sure the Democrats want to de-fund. All this stuff in the House and Senate the past two days is a political statement — <\/p>\n

CALLER: (background noise from crumb crunchers) <\/p>\n

RUSH: What?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: One of the kids get out of the house or something?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. They\u2019re always running around. Hey, I was just wondering. Wouldn\u2019t it be a shocker if the American people actually ended up just going ahead and funding our troops themselves out of their pockets? I would think that would be crushing to the Democrat Party\u2019s idea.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, now you\u2019re living in dreamland. We may as well start doing bake sales to fund the war in Iraq. (You know we\u2019ve got the 15th anniversary of Dan\u2019s Bake Sale coming up, I think, on May 24th. I think that\u2019s what we went to Fort Collins. I don\u2019t know that I\u2019m going to go. In fact, there\u2019s not enough time to set something up because I just now realized that the anniversary date is May 24th.) They\u2019re not going to de-fund it. USA Today has a story today. Jim Moran, who\u2019s about as radical a Democrat as you can find, said, ‘I think we\u2019re ultimately going to lose this battle, although I think it will be a pyrrhic victory for the White House because they\u2019re going to lose the war for public opinion.\u2019 Representative Jim Cooper, a conservative Democrat from Tennessee, said, ‘Look, the money is going to flow because the troops always come first. This is really just a battle for the mind of the public.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Congressman Cooper, this is more than ‘politics.\u2019 This is the point that they don\u2019t get. To them, the Democrats in this whole mess, de-funding the war and withdrawal target dates, it\u2019s all politics to them. It\u2019s purely political — and it\u2019s about far more than that. This is… I\u2019m telling you, the American people know this, and the Democrats are doing themselves no favors with all this. It\u2019s going to redound to their — well, they\u2019re going to regret it somewhere down the line. You just can\u2019t behave and say the things that they\u2019re saying in the midst of times like this. Remember, they didn\u2019t have the guts to talk this way before the election last November. They were doing anything they could to keep their agenda hidden. It was all about the ‘culture of corruption\u2019 and it was Macaca and it was Foley and all. But now they\u2019re so giddy with their new power, they can\u2019t help themselves. They\u2019re finally telling us who they are — and the more of that, the better. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
