RUSH: This has to do with the V-Tech shooting, but it has to do with something we spoke about last week on this program that sent me into a rant about all the criticism that me and my buddies on talk radio get for this incivility, the desensitization of our culture, the coarsening of our culture and so forth. On Saturday morning on the Fox News Channel, the Forbes on Fox show, David Asman interviewed the Silicon Valley bureau chief for Forbes magazine, Quentin Hardy, and the question, was, ‘Quentin, the rights of these crazy people aren\u2019t as important as the rights of the innocent that may be hurt.\u2019<\/p>\n

HARDY: Everybody looks for a ‘why\u2019 to explain madness, and, frankly, they just fill in their biases. It might be Rosie talking about gun control. It might be Rush Limbaugh saying he was Korean so he got a pass.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, go check my transcripts. My transcripts are up there at RushLimbaugh.com, and you will not find my coming close to having said, ‘He was Korean so he got a pass.\u2019 This is precisely what happens when other agents listen to this program, take it out of context, and report it. He could not have listened to my program. This Quentin Hardy could not have listened to it, because I didn\u2019t say that. Once again, this goes to the whole concept of the spoken word then being written down, shortened and sweetened and perhaps even taken out of context. What we were talking about was we had some callers calling here wondering why nobody did anything to stop him, why nobody did anything to report him, why nobody before, when everybody saw the warnings signs, and it ended in a discussion of political correctness. We theorized on a whole bunch of reasons, and one of the reasons was he was a minority and because of the way college students have been trained from the time they were in kindergarten, it\u2019s discriminatory to point something out about a minority, including the mentally ill, not just Koreans.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t specify anything about Koreans. Yet this is what this guy thinks I said because of whoever it was who told him. He\u2019s out there on Fox on Saturday morning repeating all this, and I just wanted to use this as an example of what I was talking about last week about how programs like this are being held up and sifted through microscopes by people that don\u2019t even listen to them! You talk about bias? If anybody is working on preconceived notions, it\u2019s this guy about what he thinks<\/emphasize> happens on this program when he doesn\u2019t take the time to listen to it. His name is Quentin Hardy. You can search my transcripts and you will not find me saying, ‘He was Korean so he got a pass,\u2019 and to phrase and to edit what was being discussed on this program in that way, is irresponsible, and this is the Silicon Valley bureau chief for Forbes magazine — supposedly an unassailable journalist. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Pittsburgh and Mike, you\u2019re up next on the EIB Network. Hello, sir. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (silence) <\/p>\n

RUSH: Is this Mike in Pittsburgh? <\/p>\n

CALLER: (silence)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Mike in Pittsburgh? Testing, one, two, three. Is anybody on the phone hearing me? I hear you out there. It sounds like a bad cell connection, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, there you are. Mike, how are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good, how are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Most hosts would have flushed you down the toilet by this time, but I hung in there.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019re the best.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because I love Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, home of the new world champion Steelers hopefully.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019ll see. It\u2019s going to be a long, long road. They have a new offense this year.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, you\u2019re right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: New offense. But we can all hope.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Say, I couldn\u2019t help but sense that, while listening to Hillary, it sounded like I was listening to a minstrel show, and I\u2019m thinking, ‘If any conservative had skewed the same thing in the same tone, they\u2019d want their head on a platter.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, hey, there\u2019s no question you\u2019re right! Look, last week, as a means of illustrating on this show how the words of conservative talk show hosts are twisted and taken out of context, I blamed the liberals for the Virginia Tech shooting. I said the guy had to be a liberal, and I went through and I said, ‘You watch. There\u2019s going to be a website that picks this up, and a bunch of people are going to read it and they\u2019re going to be outraged that I would possibly say this,\u2019 and they said, ‘Yeah, you got a guy that hates the rich. You got a guy that thinks the American culture is debauched. Who is it telling us all this and who is it doing all this? It\u2019s the liberals,\u2019 and sure enough Media Matters fell for it hook, line, and sinker. They had it up all over the place. Yet Friday at the National Action Network Conference, ‘Sen. Joe Biden, a Democratic Party candidate … blamed the Republicans for the Virginia Tech killings and a string of events that have made news in the past few years. [Biden said] Bush, Newt Gingrich, and Karl Rove are responsible for what he called ‘the politics of polarization.\u2019 … ‘I would argue, since 1994 with the Gingrich revolution, just take a look at Iraq, Venezuela, [Venezuela!] Katrina, [Katrina!] what\u2019s gone down at Virginia Tech, Darfur, Imus. Take a look. This didn\u2019t happen accidentally, all these things,” are the fault of Bush, Gingrich, and Karl Rove!<\/p>\n

I was depressed when I read this. He left my name out of it! Usually I get blamed for this stuff. But nobody said a word! There\u2019s no website out there chronicling Biden blaming us. He was serious. He was serious! I was making a joke. I was just setting everybody up to show how this stuff works, although I do believe that it was liberalism that got hold of this guy and made him hate America. It was professors and this sort of thing, but hell\u2019s bells! Have you heard anybody complaining about Biden blaming Republicans for Katrina? What else? Katrina and…Darfur? We\u2019re responsible, our culture is. This ‘Politics of Polarization\u2019 has created a genocide in Darfur? The last thing I heard was that liberals were demanding Americans get there. We\u2019re not even there, how can we be causing it? Imus is one of the biggest liberals on radio and Bush and Rove are being blamed for that. Yet nobody noticed. So, yeah, if I or somebody else started doing the black dialect while speaking to a group of blacks as Mrs. Clinton did, of course it would be picked up on and we would be called racists and who knows? It\u2019s like if I\u2019d answered the phone when you\u2019d called Mike, and said, ‘Hey, dude, what it is?\u2019 The same thing would have happened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
