CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Well, like a little while ago you brought up fuel prices, and I was wondering, do you think that between ten and $20 billion a month is profit enough? I think it\u2019s obscene, and I think the first candidate that asks for some kind of price control —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait whoa, whoa! Who\u2019s profit are we talking about here?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The oil companies.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, give me a break!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exxon and them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, come on! You can\u2019t —<\/p>\n

CALLER: What do they make in a month?<\/p>\n

RUSH: This distresses me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m trying to be polite. You\u2019re ignorant about what you think you know about oil profits. You have no clue how much they lose over the course of any number of years. You have no clue how much they plow back into research and development. You have no idea. You try to go to the gas pump without the oil companies and see where you end up. You have the government do it for you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Inform me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: These people are penalized. These people pay more in taxes than you can possibly imagine — so do we, as we use their products. The government is reaping ‘obscene profits\u2019 from the sale of oil products, including gasoline. Oil profits are not excessive.
