CALLER: Hi. How are you doing, Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m not going to say ‘dittos\u2019 because it\u2019s stupid. If I didn\u2019t enjoy the show, I wouldn\u2019t be listening.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you think ‘dittos\u2019 means.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It means that I enjoy the show. I like the show.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s good. Most people think it\u2019s a —<\/p>\n

CALLER: It doesn\u2019t mean I necessarily agree with you. I agree with about nine (cell phone crackle) of what you say.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — mind-numbed-robot, agreement-type thing, but it isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Well, uh… My, uh… I\u2019m looking at George W. Bush going down as one of the worst presidents in American history.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Really?<\/p>\n

CALLER: He\u2019s failed at everything he\u2019s done.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, he hasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER: First of all, first all, let me establish my bona fides. I have Ph.D. in American history, and I\u2019m a retired Army colonel. Okay? He started a war that he was not willing to win.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He didn\u2019t start it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: His only — his only chance now is to — is to let Democrats de-fund it and try to blame the debacle on them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you think that\u2019s what he\u2019s going to do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I — I think that\u2019s exactly what he\u2019s —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You think he\u2019ll eventually go along with the Democrats in de-funding this, and allowing a troop withdrawal to begin —<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, he won\u2019t go along.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And blame the Democrats?<\/p>\n

CALLER: They will not vote the funds, and he will try to blame them and the media will blame him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, now, wait a minute. You just said his only chance is to let the Democrats de-fund it. That means he\u2019s going to sit by and let \u2019em do it. You just said, ‘No, he won\u2019t go along with it.\u2019 Now, you\u2019re contradicting yourself.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no. He\u2019s not gonna go along with the plan for the timetable. He will refuse, and they will refuse to accommodate him, and so they will just — they won\u2019t vote the — all they have to do is not vote the funds. It\u2019s not something that they can — they — have to take action.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, well, let\u2019s just continue along with your theory here. Will he succeed in getting the Democrats to be seen as responsible for the defeat?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Probably not.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You believe not?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I believe not. I mean, Clinton managed to get the Republicans blamed for not voting the budget, but I don\u2019t think — I don\u2019t think the mainstream — the mainstream media — the Drive-By Media — will allow Clinton, I mean Bush, to blame Congress.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You think 30, 40, 50 years from now when historians probably not yet born go back over this period, that —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, they\u2019re going to see that he tried to institute a tax cut, that he failed at.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He didn\u2019t fail at that!<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s not permanent. In 2010 they\u2019ll all go away.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They weren\u2019t tax cuts. They were rate reductions. Now, wait a second. Wait a second! That\u2019s why I said, ‘No, he hasn\u2019t,\u2019 when you said, ‘He\u2019s failed at everything he\u2019s done.\u2019 The tax rate reductions have been a boon to the economy and they were real and they were substantive.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But they expire in 2010. Beginning now they expire one by one until 2010 and the Democrats are going to say, ‘Hey, we didn\u2019t raise taxes. We just let Bush\u2019s expire.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: You gotta understand. If you\u2019re a Ph.D. in history you understand that politics is about what you can get when you can get it. He got ten years on this stuff, and the idea was that it would be so successful and everybody would know it, it would be renewed. Now the Democrats take over, of course, it won\u2019t be. You can\u2019t chalk that up to failure. Bush has disappointed a lot of people on a lot of things, but it\u2019s quite a stretch to say he\u2019s the worst president in American history. But I\u2019m glad you called. I wish I had more time with you, Dave. I really do, but I\u2019m simply out of it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
