CALLER: Thanks, Rush. Thanks for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I take exception to the painting of the Democrats advocating defeat. But I think you know that most of the people, not all of them, there\u2019s a —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait! Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Don\u2019t tell me what I think<\/emphasize> I know. I know what I know. You won\u2019t till I tell you.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: Okay. Here\u2019s what I think. Most of these people think that the victory is not attainable, the same way that Ed Meese did and James Baker. I\u2019ll bet you a Club Gitmo T-shirt<\/a> that at the end of the day when President Bush pulls up stakes, that he will achieve something which no reasonable person will call victory. We will have wasted lives to preserve his legacy. I think the people that want out want (out) because they don\u2019t think it\u2019s winnable, not because they want America defeated.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, you\u2019re a great call, and I\u2019m actually glad you took the time to call, because you are the role model. You are the microcosm of today\u2019s liberal Democrat. A, you don\u2019t recognize defeat when you want it. You can\u2019t deny they want defeat. They want surrender. They own it. That\u2019s exactly what this is about. It\u2019s so bad that the Democrats cannot afford victory to take place. But beyond that, you know what\u2019s really shameful to me and what is truly, truly disappointing is that you, an American, do not think victory is possible in this for the United States of America<\/emphasize>. If you don\u2019t think victory is possible, there\u2019s one opposite to victory, and that\u2019s defeat. <\/p>\n

You think we can only lose. You want<\/emphasize> us to lose. You\u2019re telling yourself, you got your brain all tied in knots telling yourself, ‘No, no, no. This is not about defeat, not about surrender. We can\u2019t win. This is about securing Bush\u2019s legacy,\u2019 and so forth. You think anything other than victory is going to secure any kind of a decent legacy for George W. Bush, given who writes legacies these days and who writes the history? You and people like you are truly frightening and sad and disappointing, and I feel sorry for you. When I actually stop to think that there are Americans like you, I get depressed, because you do not represent the traditions and the ideals and the institutions that have defined this country\u2019s greatness.<\/p>\n

If you keep propagating (and you won\u2019t because of abortion) and you keep making more and more of you people who think the way you do, our country and the way it\u2019s always been and its future is threatened. If you people get your hands in total control of this country — and you have yourselves convinced that we don\u2019t face an enemy, that we\u2019re at war with the enemy, that the enemy is only the enemy because we\u2019ve made them mad — we are truly in deep doo-doo. I go through this mixture of emotions of feeling sorry for people like you because you sound otherwise intelligent. You can speak and you can do so grammatically correctly, so it seems to me you ought to be able to figure things out, but you\u2019re so warped out there that it\u2019s frightening and saddens me. It\u2019s just very sad, at the same time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
