RUSH: I have a \u201cswamp story\u201d for you which could only happen in the swamp.<\/p>\n
According to Roll Call, the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Columbia announced last week that a congressional staffer faces a five-year stretch in prison for falsifying a security-clearance form.<\/p>\n
Isaac Avant, has been serving as Chief of Staff for Mississippi Congressman Bennie Thompson, the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Committee for Homeland Security. Mr. Avant has been staff director for that committee during the week. On weekends he had to go to jail.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s because last January he was convicted of failing to file federal income tax returns. He was sentenced to four months in jail and fined $150,000. But\u00a0 being a high-ranking figure in the Washington establishment he was allowed to serve his time on weekends.<\/p>\n

Apparently, Mr. Avant failed to mention any of this on his security clearance form for the Homeland Security Committee. So\u00a0again he faces charges. This time, he could get five years behind bars if convicted. And there\u2019s no talk about doing time on weekends.<\/p>\n
One more detail. Nobody \u2013 including Roll Call \u2013 can find out if he still worked for the Democrat Congressman, or if he has been terminated.\u00a0Well, we now know.\u00a0 He still has his job.\u00a0 And that, my friends, is\u00a0how they roll in the swamp. “Jail?
