RUSH: Have you seen the videotape of this cute little polar bear cub that\u2019s been abandoned by its mother? How can that happen in nature? How can this happen? We are told constantly, over and over again, that we human beings are the ones destroying the planet; that we\u2019re the ones who have wanton disregard for any life other than our own. If we would only get out of the way and would leave the Earth as God intended it, a pristine place for real creatures to exist au natural —<\/emphasize> and yet we learn that some slough, welfare polar bear mother has decided to flee the nest and leave the cub and a German zoo has adopted this little baby polar bear. They named the polar bear ‘Knut.\u2019 It\u2019s the cutest little thing. He runs around, plays with a soccer ball and loves human contact. They cuddle with the little thing. It\u2019s very cute. And now, after three months — and he\u2019s 19 pounds right now — after three months, animal rights activists are arguing that Knut, the 19 pound, three-month old polar bear cub, should be given a lethal injection rather than be brought up suffering the humiliation of being treated as a domestic pet. <\/p>\n

Frank Albrecht, the spokesman for some animal rights wacko group, said, ‘The zoo must kill the bear. Feeding by hand is not species-appropriate but a gross violation of animal protection laws.\u2019 So we should stop trying to save the whales, and we should stop trying to save the dolphins, and we should stop rescuing any injured animal, and taking it into a clinic or a zoo or whatever. These people are insane<\/emphasize>! They are literally insane. This little polar bear cub is as happy as it can be. It\u2019s having the time of its life, and it\u2019s going to be released to the wild at some point, or maybe it will go to a zoo or what have you. The little thing was born in December. His mother ignored him and his brother, and his brother died. Zoo officials intervened, choosing to raise the cub themselves, but this Albrecht guy and other animal rights activists fret that it\u2019s inappropriate for a predator known for its fierceness and ability to fend for itself in the wild to be — well, where\u2019s this on human beings? <\/p>\n

You animal rights people and you liberals are totally willing to compromise the ability of human beings to fend for themselves. You want to take care of them. You want government and government programs to take care of them. Why don\u2019t you advocate they be killed? How about this: every human that can\u2019t take care of itself should just be killed. Human beings are predators, after all, especially the animal rights activists. You animal lovers. I want you to learn who these people are. They are saying that the treatment of this little polar bear cub is inhumane and could cause him future difficulties interacting with fellow polar bears. <\/p>\n

‘Ruediger Schmiedel, head of the Foundation for Bears&hellip;\u2019 (kid impression) ‘Mommy! Mommy! When I grow up, I want to be a big gun in the Foundation for Bears. That\u2019s what I want to do, mom.\u2019 Where do they find these idiots? What\u2019s this guy\u2019s name? Ruediger Schmiedel ‘argues that this current treatment of the cub is inhumane and could lead to future difficulties. ‘They can\u2019t domestic a wild animal.” Nobody is trying to. They\u2019re trying to keep the little guy alive. He\u2019s not going to be a pet. If he ends up a pet and he\u2019s a natural predator, he\u2019s going to eat whoever owns him once he gets big enough to do it, which all these people know. You animal rights people are absolutely insane. You are dangerously insane. You have more concern over a bear than you do human beings. Let me read this to you again. <\/p>\n

‘Frank Albrecht and other activists fret that it\u2019s inappropriate for a predator known for its fierceness and ability to fend for itself in the wild to be snuggled, bottle fed, and made into a commodity by zookeepers.\u2019 And look at the millions of human beings they\u2019re willing to turn into just that, commodities, assume they can\u2019t take care of themselves and provide cradle-to-grave subsistence for them. I detest<\/emphasize> these liberals, folks. I detest them. I don\u2019t care whether they\u2019re animal rights wackos or environmentalist wackos, I detest them. Such contradiction. We have to do everything we can to save the animals. Now we\u2019re trying to save an animal — and, by the way, the zoo is claiming it\u2019s under a lot of pressure here because of a single animal rights group. Blow \u2019em off! Screw \u2019em! Tell \u2019em to go to hell, for crying out loud. What\u2019s happening to us? Why do we have to respond to all of these activists as though they have any say whatsoever? They don\u2019t run the zoo. They have nothing to do with the zoo. They\u2019re just a bunch of professional whiners and moaners, socialist, communist, liberals! Whatever the hell they are, screw them! <\/p>\n

RUSH: By the way, more animal rights news. This is of particular interesting to those of you in southern California. ‘After pressure from animal rights groups, Wolfgang Puck, famed chef and restaurateur of Spago and others, says he\u2019s going to stop using foie gras at his restaurants. He\u2019s going to bar his $300 million food company from using several types of food that have been criticized by activists such as eggs from chickens raised in battery cages, veal, and pigs raised in confining crates.\u2019 He\u2019s just going to get rid of the foie gras. This, of course, is when you take a bunch of ducks and geese out there and inject them all kinds of food to the point that the liver almost explodes, and that\u2019s how you get delicious foie gras. Of course that process, once it\u2019s been learned, you can\u2019t eat it. (Crying) ‘Oh no, poor geese!\u2019 By the way, this reminds me, the cute little polar bear, Knut, the 19 pound cub. Doesn\u2019t his mother have the right to choose what it wants? If the mother wants to abandon the little polar bear, fine. It can do that, right? We allow it for ourselves in a number of ways. <\/p>\n

Anyway, my question to Wolfgang Puck is: Wolfie, why are you serving any meat at all here? Don\u2019t you understand you\u2019ve just given them the first, and they\u2019re just going to keep coming back? You put the foie gras in the water, so to speak, and these guys are going to keep coming back. These animal rights activists, animal rights groups, why do people buckle to these people? I could understand if the mayor came around like is happening in New York and banned trans-fats and foie gras and so forth. But, you know, you don\u2019t get away with this in Chicago. The city council tries to ban the Chicago and these Chicago restaurateurs say, ‘Screw you! We\u2019re going to keep serving it. Come find us. Our customers like it.\u2019 New York, liberals, they bend over forwards and grab the ankles, and wait for the health inspectors to come in. They\u2019ll get rid of anything the mayor tells them to get rid of other than the rats. The rats are still running around in the Kentucky Fried Chicken. Of course now we have big news about the Chinese restaurants not being up to snuff, but they\u2019re a minority, so what can we do about it? They have the right. I guess in Southern California, the activists rule. <\/p>\n

Just tell these people to go to hell! Tell \u2019em open their own restaurant if they don\u2019t want fois gras and don\u2019t serve fois gras on it. If I were Wolfgang Puck I\u2019d say, ‘Leave me alone!\u2019 Of course, I guess his problem is the Hollywood community is big clientele out there. They\u2019ll just have the foie gras in their house, Wolfgang. They\u2019ll probably ask you to come serve it to them on the sly, bring a little yellow van that looks like the phone truck or something like that. They\u2019re still going to be serving it to these people, just not in public. When are we going to stand up, folks? Take your compact incandescent lightbulbs and put them in a bodily orifice, as far as I\u2019m concerned. If you want to use them, fine, stop preaching to me. You want to save the planet, go to Mars. It\u2019s burning hell up there right now and they can\u2019t figure out why because there aren\u2019t any human beings up there. You want to save something, save yourselves! You people are a bunch of losers trying to infect everybody else with your stupid doom and gloom misery.
