RUSH: ‘Suspected members of extremist groups have signed up as school bus drivers in the United States, counterterror officials said Friday, in a cautionary bulletin to police. An FBI spokesman said, ‘Parents and children have nothing to fear.” Really? Then why issue the story that suspected members of extremist groups have signed up as school bus drivers in the US? How does that lead to parents and children having nothing to fear? Because they have no more room for fear, folks. They are full of fear over global warming. Now they have to worry about extremists driving buses. ‘Asked about the alert notice, the FBI\u2019s Rich Kolko said, ‘There are no threats, no plots and no history leading us to believe there is any reason for concern,\u2019 although law enforcement agencies around the country were asked to watch out for kids\u2019 safety.\u2019 But there\u2019s nothing to fear. The bulletin, parts of which were read to the AP did not say how often foreign extremists have sought to acquire licenses to drive school buses or where. It was ‘sent Friday as part of what officials said was a routine FBI and Homeland Security Department advisory to local law enforcement.\u2019 But parents and children have nothing to fear. Well, who are these extremist bus drivers, then, if parents and children have nothing to fear? It must be people like this. From the Orlando Sentinel: ‘The Web site for I-Ride Trolley boasts comments from its riders: ‘An efficient way to move around.\u2019 ‘Wonderful not to have to rent a car.\u2019 Here\u2019s one that is not listed: ‘The bus driver called me a raghead.\u2019 Operators of the tourist bus on International Drive fired a driver Thursday after a Turkish-American couple who had visited Orlando complained about comments he made over the loudspeaker to his passengers. Hilal Isler of upstate New York said she and her husband, Volkan Isler, were offended when the driver launched into a monologue after they boarded the bright blue I-Ride Trolley bus about 8 p.m. March 5. He greeted passengers, told a blond joke and then said he was an ‘equal-opportunity offender,\u2019 Hilal Isler said. What shocked the Islers, both college professors, was his talk about Muslims: ‘And now they\u2019re telling us we\u2019re supposed to be nice to these Muslim terrorists who are trying to kill us all,\u2019 Hilal Isler recalled him saying. ‘Here in America, we call them ‘ragheads\u2019 or ‘towelheads,\u2019 but that\u2019s not right. What they wear on their heads is more like a sheet. We should be calling them sheetheads.” <\/p>\n

I have to admit, it made me laugh. So now we know who the extremist bus drivers are that have been hired. These are people that tell jokes about Muslims and blondes. No wonder the FBI is concerned. ”My husband and I were shocked, felt insulted and distressed,\u2019 said Isler, who is Muslim but does not wear a traditional head scarf or anything else that would identify her as such. The passengers broke into laughter, Isler recounted. The couple approached the driver. ‘We\u2019re Turkish; we\u2019re Middle Eastern,\u2019 she told him. ‘Can you appreciate how badly this makes us feel? How would you feel if these sorts of things were said about you?\u2019 her husband asked. According to Hilal Isler, the driver said he wouldn\u2019t mind — responding in a voice that mimicked her husband\u2019s Turkish accent. The Islers, who had spent the day visiting SeaWorld and outlet shops, left the bus upset but thinking they would let the incident go. ‘A day after they returned to New York, however, Hilal Isler sent a letter to I-Ride officials. ‘I imagine there are others who have been on the receiving end of this sort of treatment,\u2019 she said. When she didn\u2019t hear anything in response for a week, she sent another e-mail Wednesday morning. She also forwarded the e-mail to the Orlando Sentinel, saying she felt ‘slighted.\u2019 Luann Brooks, executive director of the International Drive Master Transit and Improvement District, which owns I-Ride, told the Sentinel that the driver had been identified on Thursday and dismissed. Although the bus had no cameras to document what happened, Brooks said she believed Isler\u2019s account. She blamed the delay in action on the company\u2019s spam filter, which she said had blocked Isler\u2019s original e-mail.\u2019 Now, why would that be? What a convenient new excuse that is. ‘Well, we didn\u2019t get your complaint. Somehow our spam filter identified your e-mail as spam.\u2019 What, they have an anti-Muslim filter on their e-mail filter? At any rate, ‘Sabiha Khan, executive director of the Orlando office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said she receives two to three complaints a month about discrimination against Muslims in Central Florida. Mostly the incidents go unreported, she said. At Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Hilal Isler is professor of anthropology and director of student diversity programs. Her husband is a professor of computer science at an engineering college. This was Hilal Isler\u2019s third time to visit Orlando. At SeaWorld\u2019s Shamu Stadium, she said, flying eagles and the American flag flashed on the jumbo screen. Audience members were shouting, ‘We support our troops\u2019 and ‘Go America,\u2019 Isler said. The scene irked her. ‘We are not at a military rally,\u2019 she said. ‘Maybe they don\u2019t want us here,\u2019 she said. ‘We won\u2019t be back.” My gosh! Okay, it\u2019s one thing to be called a ‘sheethead\u2019 when you\u2019re Muslim and not wearing a towel on your head when you\u2019re riding the I-Ride in Orlando, but can you imagine the humiliation of going Shamu Stadium in Orlando at Sea World and having the American flag flashing? When you live in America, and when you teach at American universities, and when you are a Turkish Muslim, can you imagine the humiliation<\/emphasize> of having to go to of all places, Shamu Stadium where threatened killer whales in captivity performing for these gullible human beings, and all of a sudden the American flag pops up and the crowd at Shamu Stadium starts shouting, ‘We support the troops,\u2019 and they report that they were offended. They were not at a military rally. So this must be what these extremists that are applying for jobs driving buses and so forth are doing, and that\u2019s why kids and their parents should not feel threatened because it\u2019s basically just a bunch of American anti-Islamic racists that are applying for these gigs. <\/p>\n
