RUSH: That\u2019s Paul Shanklin as Elvis and a takeoff of ‘In the Ghetto,\u2019 In a Yugo. We have a fascinating editorial here from a college campus — and as we all know, college campi <\/emphasize>are frequented in the majority status, by liberals. So this is interesting. Chris Demorro is writing in the Editorial and Commentary section of the Central Connecticut State University Recorder Online<\/a>. Here\u2019s the headline: ‘Prius Outdoes Hummer in Environmental Damage — The Toyota Prius has become the flagship car for those in our society so environmentally conscious that they are willing to spend a premium to show the world how much they care. Unfortunately for them, their ultimate ‘green car\u2019 is the source of some of the worst pollution in North America; it takes more combined energy per Prius to produce than a Hummer. Before we delve into the seedy underworld of hybrids, you must first understand how a hybrid works. For this, we will use the most popular hybrid on the market, the Toyota Prius. The Prius is powered by not one, but two engines: a standard 76 horsepower, 1.5-liter gas engine found in most cars today and a battery- powered engine that deals out 67 horsepower and a whooping 295ft\/lbs of torque, below 2000 revolutions per minute. Essentially, the Toyota Synergy Drive system, as it is so called, propels the car from a dead stop to up to 30mph. This is where the largest percent of gas is consumed.\u2019<\/p>\n

Anyway, it goes on to say, &ldquo;if you are really an environmentalist – ditch the Prius. Instead, buy one of the most economical cars available – a Toyota Scion xB. The Scion only costs a paltry $0.48 per mile to put on the road. If you are still obsessed over gas mileage – buy a Chevy Aveo and fix that lead foot. It takes five years to offset the premium price of a Prius. Meaning, you have to wait 60 months to save any money over a non-hybrid car because of lower gas expenses.&rdquo; This is from a college <\/emphasize>newspaper, ladies and gentlemen, where you would think that the Prius would be among the most prized possessions among the ‘environmentally conscious.\u2019 That\u2019s just the tip of the iceberg of what\u2019s coming. <\/p>\n

The New York Times has a pretty big hit piece on Algore today and his propaganda documentary, An Inconvenient Truth. Also, in the Canada Free Press<\/a>, a real big expos&eacute; on these carbon offsets, these carbon credits. They have discovered who Gore\u2019s partner is in the whole concept, a guy named Maurice Strong, who was instrumental in the Earth Summit back in Rio de Janeiro back in 1992. He\u2019s a guy working in the background, a conniver. He was responsible for the Kyoto protocol. It is so political. Algore says, ‘It\u2019s not political. This is not even science. It\u2019s a moral issue,\u2019 which is indicative that it\u2019s not a scientific issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
