Welcome, sir, to the EIB Network.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Hi. I love your show, but I disagree with the fundamental premise you take that the conservative movement is advancing. I just see the conservative principles in America as slowly dying, and maybe we slow that down a little bit when Ronald Reagan takes over or something like that, but the secular humanists seem to be taking over the country little by little.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, the brakes have been put on that. I know it\u2019s a challenge out there, but I just cannot accept the premise that conservatism is dying when I am thriving and I <emphasize>am <\/emphasize>conservatism.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, I think your medium is popular and there\u2019s a lot of conservatives still in America, but I just think conservatives need a major reformation around fundamental principles. I think we need to rethink the whole Enlightenment, the idea that you don\u2019t need God, that intellectualism isn\u2019t going to save us and all that, and I just see that &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Why do you think there\u2019s been a fall-back in that?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, in my lifetime &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Let me tell you something. If there were no conservative movement, we would have already signed the Kyoto accords, you would have already lost a bunch of freedom, and earth would be your new god and you wouldn\u2019t be allowed to mention Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, just because it\u2019s happened slower in America doesn\u2019t mean that the same pattern that happened in Europe isn\u2019t happening in America. I think that we\u2019re slowly but surely following the same pattern as France and Germany and the UK, albeit we\u2019re a little behind them because we\u2019re so fundamentally religious.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Good point. The number of, quote, unquote, &#8216;leaders\u2019 and self-admitted braggart intellectuals in Europe that say they don\u2019t believe in God, is at an all-time high.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: You know, we talk about leadership, and one thing I think America has lost sight of with regard to political leadership is that in order to be a good leader, you need to say what you believe most fundamentally. You can\u2019t just be a technician like Hillary is. You need to be able to say, &amp;ldquo;Hey, here\u2019s what we believe,&amp;rdquo; and I think what conservatives need is some good leaders that say, &amp;ldquo;Hey, look, we\u2019re opposed to&amp;hellip;&amp;rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Look, I understand what you\u2019re saying &#8212; and if I allowed myself to, I could be absorbed and immersed in all of the apparent failures &#8212; the wuss society, the pop culture interests &#8212; that people have, how they\u2019re devoid of substance. But that\u2019s always been the case with young people through any generation. This is an ongoing battle, and it will always be. It has always been. There\u2019s never going to be a triumph where the country is totally conservative. It\u2019s always something we\u2019re going to have to battle the left on, and you gotta get used to it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH: San Diego, this is Keith.
