I\u2019m totally satisfied with radio, and I want for nothing, I love it so much.\u00a0 But this is special.\u00a0 &#8216;Cause, Sean, I\u2019ll tell you something:\u00a0 The reason America is still America is in this room.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 You mean the camera people and you?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 All of us.\u00a0 But you and me, it\u2019s an honor to do this, it\u2019s great to be back on Fox News.\u00a0 And I\u2019m actually grateful for the opportunity here to be on the week you\u2019re going back to 9 p.m., where you should have been all along.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 Well, thank you.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Happy to be here.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 We appreciate it.\u00a0 I want to start with tax cuts.\u00a0 All the years you\u2019ve talked about it, Kennedy, Reagan, how it works; let\u2019s look at the elimination of the deduction state income tax.\u00a0 You know who\u2019s gonna hate that?\u00a0 California, Illinois, all these blue states, that\u2019s gonna cause a shortfall for them.\u00a0 Those taxpayers are not gonna like it.\u00a0 And if you look at the states with the highest state income tax rates, most of them are blue.\u00a0 But here\u2019s my basic problem with this.\u00a0 I keep hearing everybody say growth, growth.\u00a0 But the top rate probably isn\u2019t gonna come down or much at all.\u00a0 And that\u2019s where the growth is.\u00a0 Those are the people that hire.\u00a0 Those are the people that own small businesses.\u00a0 Those are the people that spend.<\/p>\n<p>We still have a tax system and a way of explaining it that\u2019s rooted in class envy.\u00a0 We\u2019re gonna give the middle class, the lower middle class, upper middle class a break; but the rich, we\u2019re gonna soak \u2019em.\u00a0 They don\u2019t need a tax break.\u00a0 They got enough.\u00a0 And besides, they say we have to have a way to pay for it.\u00a0 What do you mean, pay for it?\u00a0 Why can\u2019t Washington do with less, for once?\u00a0 We got growth from Reagan.\u00a0 I saw you talking about it last night.\u00a0 How?\u00a0 Top marginal rate over eight years went 70 to 28%.\u00a0 Look what happened.<\/p>\n<p>Why not do it again?\u00a0 The reason is, everybody is afraid they\u2019ll lose votes in the middle class \u2019cause there\u2019s far more of them than there are people in the upper bracket.\u00a0 The top 10% are paying 70% of all income taxes.\u00a0 And how can you say they\u2019re not paying their fair share, and why do we want to punish them further?\u00a0 If you really want growth, lower everybody\u2019s taxes across the board and get out of the way for all the revenue that\u2019s gonna be coming in.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 He\u2019s gonna have a corporate tax.\u00a0 Trump wanted 15.\u00a0 It\u2019s gonna be 20.\u00a0 Reconciliation kicks in, so they say.\u00a0 But what\u2019s interesting is, all right, the corporate taxes reduced, the repatriation is good.\u00a0 You\u2019re right.\u00a0 New York, California, New Jersey, Illinois, they don\u2019t get to deduct &#8212; I\u2019m in New York.\u00a0 It\u2019s 10%.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Right.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 California is 13.5%.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Exactly &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 So lower rate, they might have 39 or 35, but they\u2019ll pay more.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 They\u2019re gonna be paying more.\u00a0 Now, I talked to some very powerful people.\u00a0 You know, I\u2019m a powerful, influential member of the media; I have access to powerful people.\u00a0 And they\u2019re laying this all off on the president, this upper bracket, no movement.\u00a0 Because they know, when I talk to them, that I\u2019m gonna be interested in across the board, everybody, \u2019cause they\u2019re the ones talking growth.\u00a0 They\u2019re not saying we need to do this to generate revenue.\u00a0 They\u2019re saying we need to do this to reboost the economy.\u00a0 Well, why are you gonna leave out the people that hire?\u00a0 Why don\u2019t we use those people as role models, inspirations?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s typical class warfare.\u00a0 But, anyway, the guy that I was talking to, &#8220;Well, don\u2019t talk to me.\u00a0 The president wants this.\u00a0 It\u2019s the president\u2019s insisting on it.\u00a0 The president said that guys like him don\u2019t need a tax break.&#8221;\u00a0 So they\u2019re laying this all off on him.\u00a0 When I hear, \u201cWe have to find a way to pay for it,\u201d that\u2019s Washington establishment talk.\u00a0 That\u2019s Democrat talk, paying for tax cuts.\u00a0 This thing, first day it\u2019s presented is never gonna be how it ends up if they get a vote on it.\u00a0 Don\u2019t misunderstand.\u00a0 There\u2019s some great things in this.\u00a0 Personal exemption doubles, repatriation is good.\u00a0 But the thing that bothers me is that we still want to demonize and punish achievers.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 I was excoriated for saying I never got a &#8212; look, it\u2019s all about getting reelected.\u00a0 It\u2019s all about trying to claim that they have things in common with the middle class, the downtrodden and so forth.\u00a0 That\u2019s why I don\u2019t think it\u2019s really about growth.\u00a0 It\u2019s about politics and getting votes.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 Let\u2019s talk about the Republican Party, we saw what happened with health care.\u00a0 Let\u2019s get your general impressions on health care.\u00a0 And I\u2019m convinced there\u2019s a pretty significant percentage of Republicans in the Senate, they do not want this president to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Yeah, I agree with you.\u00a0 I think it goes further than that.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think they expected to win.\u00a0 I think they, like everybody, thought Trump was gonna lose in the biggest way.\u00a0 I think they thought that at 8 o\u2019clock on election night.\u00a0 They weren\u2019t preparing to govern. They hadn\u2019t laid any plans for it. They have become accustomed to being, quote, loyal opposition, which means eventually caving and giving the Democrats what they want after putting up a good front. Seven years gonna repeal and replace Obamacare, but we can\u2019t do it unless you give us the House, can\u2019t do it \u2019til the Senate, can\u2019t do it \u2019til the White House. Gave them all of that, and you know the drill.\u00a0 You\u2019re right, they don\u2019t want to do it.\u00a0 I think that the voters come second.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s kind of like this NFL thing.\u00a0 The owners there have a real conundrum, a real dilemma, who do they choose?\u00a0 Do they choose loyalty to their players or their customers, that\u2019s a tough decision.\u00a0 Republicans in the Senate and the House, who do they choose?\u00a0 Donors or voters?\u00a0 And I think they\u2019re choosing donors.\u00a0 The donors don\u2019t want major reform.\u00a0 The donors want amnesty.\u00a0 The donors want comprehensive immigration reform.\u00a0 When it comes to health care, you can tell, for seven years they passed bills with no problem.\u00a0 You could tell they didn\u2019t want to do it.\u00a0 You could tell they didn\u2019t want to repeal and replace it.\u00a0 They were just saying the words.\u00a0 And they all have their own individual reasons, but I think it\u2019s donors influencing more than voters.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see.\u00a0 But this is an embarrassment.\u00a0 I mean, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity being totally squandered.\u00a0 We\u2019re never gonna have this chance.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 You actually said that if they were smart, and all they would do is keep their promises, they would govern for generations.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 This is the deal.\u00a0 I really believe that if for just three months, going forward, or if they had three months in the past, just three months, gut it up for three months and work with Trump on his agenda, on cutting taxes seriously, across the board, immigration reform, the wall, what have you, getting rid of Obamacare, which is just &#8212; it\u2019s an absolute crime what has happened here and what that\u2019s gonna mean to the country.\u00a0 Just try for three months, make it look like there\u2019s unity between the president and the people in his own party, and they would own Washington for a generation.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 Hmm.\u00a0 I think you\u2019re right.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking at the Republican Party.\u00a0 I think Trump has a strong identity.\u00a0 Ran on a platform, stick to it, every speech sounds just like his campaign speech.\u00a0 Where\u2019s the brilliant ideas?\u00a0 How many years on radio have you talked about health savings accounts, health care cooperatives?\u00a0 We don\u2019t hear about that.\u00a0 How many times have we heard about the wall?\u00a0 I don\u2019t see them embracing strong ideas and going and selling them, which I think they\u2019d win on the &#8212;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-248882\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ESTABLISHEMENT.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ESTABLISHEMENT.png 1864w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ESTABLISHEMENT-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ESTABLISHEMENT-768x424.png 768w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ESTABLISHEMENT-1024x566.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ESTABLISHEMENT-1080x597.png 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>RUSH:\u00a0 I don\u2019t think they\u2019re conservative.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think they ever have been.\u00a0 I think they are &#8212; look, there isn\u2019t much conservatism in the establishment.\u00a0 There are Republicans and Democrats, but it\u2019s basically people who are pro-government, pro-Washington who think government in Washington is the center of the world.\u00a0 They\u2019ll give occasional mentions of these things that you mentioned, these policies to placate voters.\u00a0 But going back to an original question you have here, they don\u2019t want Trump to succeed with his agenda.\u00a0 They can\u2019t afford that.\u00a0 I\u2019m not exaggerating here and I\u2019m not trying to say things that will be a sound bite that Fox replays the rest of the day.\u00a0 They don\u2019t want &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 Five days, Rush, they\u2019ll play it five days. (laughing)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 They don\u2019t want &#8212; they can\u2019t afford for him to succeed with his agenda.\u00a0 They can\u2019t afford it.\u00a0 The lid\u2019s blown.\u00a0 The gig is over.\u00a0 The joke is revealed if an outsider with no prior political experience can come in and fix messes that people have been promised would be fixed for 30 years, how does that make \u2019em look?\u00a0 They can\u2019t allow that to happen.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 Welcome back to Hannity as we report from Florida tonight.\u00a0 Rush Limbaugh has been one of the strongest voices against NFL players protesting our flag, our national anthem and he\u2019s one of the NFL\u2019s biggest fans.\u00a0 Here\u2019s what he had to say earlier today.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: Let me go to the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 All right.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 I want to read what you said, because I\u2019ve listened to you all the years you\u2019ve been on radio, and you\u2019re probably the biggest NFL fan I\u2019ve ever known.\u00a0 You love the Pittsburgh Steelers.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 I do.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 You saw what happened in the Pittsburgh game, and you actually said that \u2014 you pointed this out, it\u2019s bigger than life to you, the NFL, and for the first time in 45 years you weren\u2019t excited and that the myth that you\u2019ve always had about these players in the NFL is gone.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Totally gone now.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 Totally gone.\u00a0 You can\u2019t recover it?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Well, maybe.\u00a0 I hope &#8212; see, that\u2019s the thing.\u00a0 I woke up Sunday morning after the president made his comments in Alabama on Friday, I\u2019m looking at the way the media\u2019s covering it and what\u2019s intended to happen on Sunday, and I\u2019m saying they\u2019ve hijacked the game.\u00a0 The left has hijacked this game.\u00a0 It used to be a respite.\u00a0 It used to be a place you go to escape all this.\u00a0 I really, you know, you think of the players, they can do things we can\u2019t do when they\u2019re performing at optimum level, it is just incredible to watch, the talent that\u2019s on display.<\/p>\n<p>And to watch them now get caught up into something that I don\u2019t even think they understand.\u00a0 You know their backtracking now, &#8220;Well, this is not about protesting the flag.\u00a0 This is not about &#8211;&#8221; of course it is.\u00a0 That\u2019s how it all got started.\u00a0 If they really wanted to make &#8212; do you think they could &#8212; if one of these players or group of them called you and said we want a half hour on your show, would you give it to them?<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 Hundred percent.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Why do they do that?\u00a0 Why are they messing around on the sideline disrespecting the flag, disrespecting the anthem, what\u2019s the point?\u00a0 They\u2019re not accomplishing anything except harming the enterprise.\u00a0 Whatever\u2019s happening in the NFL right now, it\u2019s not how you grow it.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 You said the owners are clueless, you said this is about race, and I think the most profound thing is you said is they\u2019re now being used by the left in this country that wants to take away institutions and the NFL is an anathema to the left.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Well, you know, saying this is risky because it &#8212; I firmly believe it &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY:\u00a0 Don\u2019t get in trouble.\u00a0 Don\u2019t get in trouble.\u00a0 Go ahead.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-248881\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-28-at-10.14.19-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-28-at-10.14.19-PM.png 2174w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-28-at-10.14.19-PM-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-28-at-10.14.19-PM-768x430.png 768w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-28-at-10.14.19-PM-1024x573.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Screen-Shot-2017-09-28-at-10.14.19-PM-1080x604.png 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>RUSH: I\u2019m saying that people don\u2019t look&#8230; When I say what I\u2019m gonna say, people are gonna react, &#8220;Oh, come on. Are you serious?&#8221; I just want to tell you I am, and this is why I\u2019m so concerned. I do believe that the left wants to cause great damage to the NFL. What does the NFL stand for? Masculinity, strength, toughness. So what are they doing to it? You go to college campuses now, and you\u2019ll find classes on how to take masculinity out of men. It\u2019s actually happening. There are studies and courses in college that do this.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s patriotic. You\u2019ve got the flag, you\u2019ve got the anthem, you\u2019ve got uniformed military personnel &#8212; all the things that the left wants to erase from this country. They don\u2019t like displays of patriotism, strength, rugged individualism. And that\u2019s why the players are being used here. They think it\u2019s about police brutality; they think it\u2019s about righting social wrongs and so forth. This is an attack on the NFL as an institution, for shaking it down and lowering its profile and impact on American culture. We\u2019re in the midst of a culture war; everybody knows it.<\/p>\n<p>The left is doing everything it can to erase elements of our country\u2019s founding, the traditions and institutions &#8212; and they don\u2019t stop. And once they get their hooks in something&#8230; This is why I\u2019m sad about it. They\u2019re not gonna let go of this. So when I see the owners? They\u2019ve gotta be scared to death. They have to be scared to death. On the one hand, do they side with their players? Linking arms? Go to sideline? Take a knee or whatever? That\u2019s just driving the central fan base away. I almost think that it\u2019s part of the strategy. If you did want to damage the NFL, what would you do? You would do something to cause its fan base to leave it. What\u2019s happening?<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: This isn\u2019t gonna end well, is it?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: No&#8230; Well, I hope it does. See, I love this so much that I live in constant optimism that this could be overcome and we can get back to it. But the problem is, Sean, everybody in management &#8212; everybody in corporate America &#8212; is under the false impression that this is a leftist, liberal country. It isn\u2019t! Look who advertises in the NFL. Ford F-150! Everything that supposedly causes climate change the number one advertiser in the NFL: Guys, beer. Who\u2019s being assaulted and attacked on all this? And the owners and the commissioner, I don\u2019t know what their individual politics are. I don\u2019t think they understand what\u2019s happening to \u2019em.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think they understand what\u2019s going on. They think they\u2019re relating to the majority of their fan base? They\u2019re not! They\u2019re driving them away and I hate it! I don\u2019t want the NFL to get smaller. I don\u2019t want it to become insignificant. I don\u2019t want it to be taken over by a bunch of wusses. I don\u2019t want it to be taken care of by left-wing social justice causes. You know, use something besides the NFL sideline. Use something besides the flag. Use something besides something that people use to escape everything leftists are trying to force on us.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: I\u2019ll give them hours on my show.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You hear that? You hear that?<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: Hours!<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Let\u2019s see if they take you up on it.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: Seriously. Tell me what you care about. I\u2019ll have a big debate. I\u2019ll bring up&#8230; I\u2019ll do hour-long debates.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You know what you\u2019re gonna find?<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: What?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: This is gonna blow your mind. I think, Sean, that a lot of &#8212; I don\u2019t know what the percentages are &#8212; a lot of these players really believe &#8220;hands up, don\u2019t shoot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: (groans)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: They really do.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: Never happened!<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: It didn\u2019t happen, but the media says it did.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: Yeah.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: And social justice warriors on the left, the civil rights community continue to say it did. You can\u2019t blame \u2019em if that\u2019s the only media they trust, if that\u2019s the only media they watch. There\u2019s that aspect of it. There is also, you know, the police brutality overall that they think occurs. More blacks are killed in Chicago by other blacks.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: Nobody talks about it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Nobody talks about it.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: I listed the names once.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: It doesn\u2019t fit the narrative. But if they\u2019re really concerned about all of the horrible things happening to them or African-Americans, it isn\u2019t happening in the NFL! Seventy-five percent of the league is African-American &#8212; and wealthy and loved and adored and hero worshiped. And yet it makes no sense. And it just&#8230; It saddens me. I loved it! I didn\u2019t watch football Sunday. I couldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: I watched college football.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, I\u2019m not a big fan of that either \u2019cause of the cheap uniforms.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: (laughing)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: I\u2019m just kidding. I didn\u2019t go to college; I don\u2019t have an alma mater.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: (laughing)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: That\u2019s&#8230; I&#8230; They do look not as flashy. I told Lou Holtz that &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: Yeah?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: &#8212; when he was coach in South Carolina. He understood what I meant; so we\u2019re cool. But really, it\u2019s&#8230; I\u2019m gonna play golf on Sundays now. It\u2019s just not&#8230; Sean, it\u2019s not the same. You\u2019re watching it, and the media can\u2019t wait to tell us of all the discord &#8212; the sports media.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: They never show the fans booing, though.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: No.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: They don\u2019t show you that.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: They\u2019ll show you the players dissing the flag.<\/p>\n<p>HANNITY: Yeah.
