This is not supposed to happen. Trump\u2019s approval numbers are supposed to stay down and continue downward once the Drive-Bys think that they are making this happen. But it\u2019s not. The approval rating is ticking upward following his response to the hurricanes. Have you seen any news about that, by the way, folks?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-247053\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/600-091417-Trump-Bananas.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/600-091417-Trump-Bananas.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/600-091417-Trump-Bananas-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>Have you seen a story, have you seen a single story this week about the federal government\u2019s behavior and competence and response to hurricanes Harvey and Irma? You haven\u2019t, have you? Why do you think that is? Why do you think you haven\u2019t? You haven\u2019t seen a story on how well things are going.<\/p>\n<p>Here in Florida, I can tell that Florida Power &amp; Light is so far ahead of schedule in restoring power. I mean, we got it back in four days when we were originally told it could be many weeks. Some people were told the power plant servicing them was seriously damaged and it could be months. But I think over 75% of the people that lost power have had it restored. I mean, it\u2019s still a disaster in many places, but some of the flooded areas, say in Miami, the floodwaters have receded faster than the media suggested would be the case.<\/p>\n<p>But it fascinated me because there\u2019s not a single story about this. And what that must mean, what that must mean is that Trump and the administration are doing a bang-up job with this. And so are the Republican governors in Texas and in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Because I\u2019m here to tell you, if there were any problems, if there were people being left out, if things weren\u2019t being improved and improved rapidly, then the Drive-Bys would be all over it, and you\u2019d be reading about it. There would be columns, and there would be stories, and there would be panel discussions on the incompetence of Donald Trump. &#8220;He just doesn\u2019t know these things,&#8221; they would say. &#8220;He just doesn\u2019t have the experience,&#8221; they would say, &#8220;of dealing with a bureaucracy like this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And apparently, Donald Trump has real-world experience at building a lot of things and rebuilding a lot things and dealing with disasters like this. And the very absence of any news about this is the truth and the indication. So Trump\u2019s approval numbers are ticking up, in large part, because of the aftermath from the hurricanes. And the UN speech, <a href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/daily\/2017\/09\/19\/no-american-president-has-ever-addressed-the-united-nations-this-way-and-its-about-time\/\">I guarantee you when they start polling on the approval opinion of Trump after that U.N. speech yesterday<\/a>, it\u2019s gonna skyrocket. Well, I shouldn\u2019t say skyrocket. But it\u2019s going to trickle-up. It\u2019s gonna move up after that speech yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xHfB-PQQleg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And the disconnect on that is breathtaking to behold. You listen to people in the aforementioned establishment &#8212; and you can do that by watching anybody in the Drive-By Media &#8212; and they think it was embarrassing. Trump overall is embarrassing. His speech was embarrassing. Ew. It embarrassed us, say the Drive-Bys. It embarrassed us, say the members of the establishment. And they want to immediately reach out to their diplomatic brethren in other countries and apologize and say, &#8220;Please don\u2019t hold it against us. We didn\u2019t elect him, and we don\u2019t support him. Please, please, do not think he\u2019s speaking for us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But yet the Soviet foreign minister praised the speech as one of the greatest of all time that he\u2019s heard. And you know Trump, we played the audio sound bites of this. Trump just literally savaged socialism in that speech yesterday. And in his example he cited Venezuela. He said the successful implementation of socialism is exactly why so many nations are failing. He said it\u2019s not the unsuccessful implementation, it\u2019s the highly successful.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/daily\/2017\/09\/19\/rush-247-morning-update-wabbits\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-241581\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/00-Rush-Morning-Update-2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"137\" \/><\/a>Now, if you missed our <a href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/daily\/2017\/09\/19\/rush-247-morning-update-wabbits\/\">Morning Update<\/a> today, there is literal mass starvation in Venezuela. Now, stop and think of this for a moment. Venezuela, before Hugo Chavez, used to be a fairly decent place to live and it was a fairly decent up-ticking economy, and it was rooted and based in oil. They\u2019re an oil-rich nation. Hello, Hugo Chavez, avowed socialist, gets elected, succeeded by his handpicked fellow socialist, Nicolas Maduro. And now literal &#8212; this is not just a term being tossed around &#8212; literal mass starvation.<\/p>\n<p>Do you know what Maduro is suggesting that Venezuelan citizens do? He is suggesting rabbits. He said rabbits are not pets. Rabbits are not cute. Rabbits are five pound chunks of protein. And he is encouraging Venezuelan citizens to capture and cook rabbits as a way of dealing with mass starvation.<\/p>\n<p>So, anyway, the Venezuelan representative of the United Nations shows up to respond to Trump\u2019s speech yesterday, and he said unknowingly, just another indication of how out of step all these people on the left are, &#8220;What was that? What was that? Was that Ronald Reagan brought back to life? Do we have to listen to Ronald Reagan again?&#8221; Damn right, Mr. Ambassador, damn right that\u2019s what it was.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-247828\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/650-092017-Trump-Comeback.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/650-092017-Trump-Comeback.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/650-092017-Trump-Comeback-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/>But he thought it was a great insult to call Trump Reagan. You know, Reagan was an avowed anti-socialist and anti-communist. And also didn\u2019t care much for Hugo Chavez, people like him. So here\u2019s this ambassador ripping Trump as being an incarnation of Reagan not knowing that over half the country is hearing it and applauding it.<\/p>\n<p>So Trump\u2019s approval numbers are ticking up, and it is based on performance. It is not based on buzz. It\u2019s not based on PR. It\u2019s not based on spin. It\u2019s not based on the media singing Trump\u2019s praises because they\u2019re doing the exact opposite. Trump\u2019s approval number is up from the mid-thirties now to 43%, and it\u2019s based solely on performance.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Where we gonna start here, Mr. Snerdley? Well, that would be Fred in Cleveland. Fred, I\u2019m glad you called. You\u2019re up next. How you doing?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: I\u2019m doing great, Rush. I hope you\u2019re doing great as well.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Thank you, sir. I am.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Okay. I have two quick points. The first thing, you were talking about Hillary. I believe that as more comes out, then the more unmasking and what have you, she\u2019s going to turned on by the Democrats because she\u2019s going to be so poisonous. She\u2019s gonna be the most hated woman in America in six months.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-237916\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Hillarycheated-on.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Hillarycheated-on.jpg 585w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Hillarycheated-on-300x136.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px\" \/>RUSH: Well, she\u2019s already the most cheated-on woman in America, so you\u2019re probably &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: That goes without saying. But my second point, I think that the 2018 elections are gonna be another runaway for the Republicans. There are two forces on this planet that cannot be beaten. One is Mother Nature. We see it every day. And the second is the American people. The American people, in 2018, if the Senate needs 64 votes, the American people are gonna give \u2019em 70. If the Congress needs 52 votes, the American people are gonna give \u2019em 58. So that a year from now no one can say, &#8220;Hey, why isn\u2019t anything getting done?&#8221; The American people will show again in 2018 who holds the power in this country. I guarantee it.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: It\u2019s a very, very powerful thought that you have and a very, very powerful prognostication. The only question I have for you is for all of that to happen, people would have to vote Republican. And a lot of people are very, very mad at Republicans right now because they are not doing what you say that they will do. They are not advancing the agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the Senate\u2019s working on health care, and Lindsey Graham says, &#8220;Hey, we\u2019re gonna get 50 votes from this, we\u2019re gonna get it.&#8221; And they\u2019ve entered a trillion and a half cut, tax reform plan as well. But up to now they have been studiously avoiding, seriously avoiding doing anything to help advance the Trump agenda. And I have been of the opinion if they don\u2019t get a grip on things, they could lose the House. Not because people gonna vote for Democrats; people don\u2019t like the Democrats, either. The reason Republicans having wing is two reasons. Donald Trump and people are fed up with Democrats. But it\u2019s not because people have been voting for Republicans, because Republicans haven\u2019t been honest. They\u2019ve been promising and it is not delivering.<\/p>\n<p>And as long as the Democrats continue to be more disgusting and disliked than Republicans, then Republicans are gonna win. But it need not being this way. It could be the way you\u2019re describing if they would just, for three months, try to get some of this stuff done. Nobody would have ever seen anything like it, if they would for three months just try, be serious about it.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: I agree. I agree, Rush. I think the American people are too smart. I don\u2019t think the Republicans could lose in \u201918 even if they tried. This isn\u2019t about Republican-Democrat. This is about giving Trump the power to push this country forward. And if Paul Ryan won\u2019t do it, if McConnell won\u2019t do it, then the American people will put five more Tea Party guys in there or five more conservatives on the other side in there. You know what I mean? What can we do? Say, &#8220;No, we\u2019re not gonna vote&#8221; and then let some loser Democrat squeak by? We will force the Republicans to win, and we will force them to do what Trump wants to do.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-247138\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/TrumpDrainSwamp.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/TrumpDrainSwamp.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/TrumpDrainSwamp-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/>RUSH: Well, Fred, I appreciate the call, and I very, very much appreciate your sentiment there, and I hope that there\u2019s something to it. I am of a similar thinking on the 2018 midterms. There\u2019s two schools of thought out there when you talk to seasoned political professionals, seasoned political scientists and analysts and think tankers and so forth. One school of thought &#8212; and really, this is not analysis; this is desire. There\u2019s one school of thought that says the country hates Trump, the country realizes what a mistake they made and they want adult leadership back. But what they want most of all is to have somebody to make sure Trump doesn\u2019t succeed. And of course that, to them, means the Democrats are gonna win big and maybe even take back the House.<\/p>\n<p>The other point of view is closer here to what Fred said but for different reasons. And it is rooted in the fact that the Democrat Party is in the tank and doesn\u2019t know it, and even if they do know it, they\u2019re not doing anything to help themselves. With Hillary Clinton front and center, that\u2019s nothing but a negative and a drag on the party. And the same thing with Crazy Bernie. And you might think, &#8220;Crazy Bernie? They love Crazy.&#8221; Do they? You look where Crazy Bernie campaigned. Kimberley Strassel made this point. You look where Crazy Bernie campaigned, in all these states, they say Trump just won by 40,000 or 70,000. &#8220;If 70,000 votes had changed,&#8221; it\u2019s always a Democrat lament.<\/p>\n<p>John Kerry, after 2000, &#8220;If we\u2019d have just won 55,000 votes in Ohio, I\u2019d be president.&#8221; Yeah, but he didn\u2019t. And 55,000 is not an insignificant number. It\u2019s not a close election with 55,000 votes. But they\u2019re saying that Crazy Bernie is the future of the party because the party\u2019s far left. But Crazy Bernie, outside of his own campaign, he had no coattails. Crazy Bernie didn\u2019t bring out anybody.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Crazy Bernie\u2019s voters were very angry at Hillary, because Hillary had rigged the election against Crazy Bernie. But even at that, Crazy Bernie couldn\u2019t cause coattails. He\u2019s not the answer. Joe Biden\u2019s not the answer. The Democrats\u2019 history is, outside of Obama, they are losing elections, and there\u2019s nothing changing on that. Trump is the wild card in the equation. And he\u2019s ticking upward right now. His overall approval rating, 43%, but among Republicans, 80%. Now, Mitch and Paul don\u2019t like seeing that. But, I mean, that is why, that\u2019s all-in, that is why they need to wise up. But the establishment is a powerful thing. And I\u2019m telling you, they fear being excommunicated. They fear being ostracized. I am not kidding you.<\/p>\n<p>It seems like common sense, you got a Republican president, 80% of the people that elected him love the guy, 80%. There is energy and enthusiasm for his agenda, and his own party in Washington won\u2019t do it! That\u2019s the establishment. That\u2019s the poll. You know, we say they fear their donors, and the donors are the establishment too. They fear being frozen out money wise. It\u2019s not just that. They fear being ostracized. They fear being excommunicated from the club, folks. I mean, it may be genuine fear.<\/p>\n<p>They see what\u2019s happening to Trump. They see what Mueller is doing. They see what the deep state\u2019s doing. The real power in Washington, D.C., is in that club, the establishment, the elites, whatever you want to call it. But despite that &#8212; and, by the way, this number, this 80%, that is before the U.N. speech. It\u2019s in <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/351489-trumps-approval-rating-ticks-upward-in-new-poll\">TheHill.com<\/a>: &#8220;President Trump\u2019s approval rating is ticking upward following his response to two major hurricanes and his bipartisan negotiations with Democratic leadership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Remember, I told you the Morning Consult poll, <a href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/daily\/2017\/09\/18\/chattering-class-discusses-eib-callers\/\">Trump voters don\u2019t care that he\u2019s working with Chuck and Nancy<\/a>. They love and believe and trust Trump. And if he\u2019s gotta work with Chuck and Nancy to do his agenda, they\u2019re gonna support it. There isn\u2019t any party loyalty here that\u2019s guiding this. But when you get down into the actual voters, 80% of Republicans now approve of Trump. That and the election returns are all anybody needs to begin the enactment of Trump\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Well, you say, &#8220;Can the establishment ever be brought around? Will the establishment ever &#8211;&#8221; No, folks. Even if Trump gets a second term. The establishment is going to always think they gotta get rid of him.
