Oh, it\u2019s quite an honor to visit with you.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VW0PrPgI8F8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Rush, I wanted to talk to you about <a href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/daily\/2017\/09\/15\/vince-flynn-was-mitch-rapp\/\">the movie the American Assassin<\/a>. I\u2019ve listened to you forever, and I\u2019m a big, big fan of Vince Flynn. And I\u2019m kind of like you, I feel like I lost a dear friend when he passed away. Anyway, after listening to your review of the book, I have Netflix, and I thought, &#8220;Oh, I\u2019ll just wait.&#8221; I couldn\u2019t wait. I grabbed a ticket Saturday and went out to watch the movie. And I loved it.<\/p>\n<p>I thought Mitch was maybe a little bit too young, but then I had to relate, this was one of his first books. You know, Mitch has been around a long time ago, so we\u2019ve watched him grow a little bit older. The sea scene when they blew up the atomic bomb I thought was great. But I was telling your screener, I said, &#8220;I\u2019m an elderly lady, and at the end of the movie I had one of those nice seats, I looked down and I had pulled my knees up in front of me and I was hanging on like I was on one of those ships.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Really? And, you know, I\u2019m like you, I just felt like we\u2019ve lost a great friend. I\u2019ve read every one of his books. I put my husband on to him and my son-in-law, and they absolutely love him. And the other thing I wanted to tell you is we love your tea. So please don\u2019t ever stop making your tea.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, no. Isn\u2019t that good?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: And it\u2019s so easy \u2019cause all I have to do is go to the computer and go boom, boom, boom, and he\u2019s got the gift and sometimes, they live across the country and it\u2019s so great if he\u2019ll pick me up at the airport and it\u2019s the middle of the day, he\u2019s listening to Rush.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: He is? That\u2019s awesome.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: And I have to say one thing. Being by myself now, if I\u2019m in the car or I\u2019m at home, you are my companion for three hours.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, God bless you. You know, I subconsciously know this. It\u2019s how I treat everybody. I treat everyone like we\u2019re just one giant group of friends or family or what have you. So I very humbly appreciate that.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, I feel like you\u2019re part of my family now. And we agree on so many things, and to find someone that loves the books like I loved &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, let me ask you a question about that. In the movie, Irene Kennedy is African-American. What was your reaction to that?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Well, I have no problem with her except I thought she was too young for the part. I kind of had Irene as an older person.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Yeah, I always imagined Irene Kennedy to be in her sixties and a doddering old sort of a schoolmarm type that was just brilliant.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You know, when they cast these parts, they\u2019ve gotta think of who goes to watch movies.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: And this actress was great in the role.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: That is interesting, because I had Irene pictured exactly like you had her pictured.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-247503\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/650-091817-American-Assassin-still-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"310\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/650-091817-American-Assassin-still-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/650-091817-American-Assassin-still-1-300x143.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/>CALLER: And when I saw that I thought it\u2019s just a little bit too young.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Well, I also had the benefit of being able to ask Vince. I said, &#8220;Is Irene Kennedy a looker or not?&#8221; He said, &#8220;No, no, Irene Kennedy is not. You shouldn\u2019t think of Irene Kennedy. She\u2019s a full-fledged lifer, professional intelligence official.&#8221; I said, &#8220;What about Mitch, who\u2019s Mitch?&#8221; He wouldn\u2019t tell me. He wouldn\u2019t tell me who he had in mind for Mitch. It was a game.<\/p>\n<p>I always thought, if you saw Vince, he was Mitch. If you saw a picture of Vince, he was Mitch. I\u2019m telling you, the guy was a stud. He had the burr cut, everything. He was just a stud. Anyway, I appreciate the call, Caroline. I really do.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: So I checked the email during the break. You knew this was gonna happen, didn\u2019t you? You\u2019re looking at me like you\u2019ve got &#8212; &#8220;So, Rush, &#8216;Is Irene Kennedy a looker?\u2019 That was your question for Vince? And Vince said, &#8216;No. You shouldn\u2019t think of her that way. She is the epitome of intelligence.\u2019 Rush, are you telling us that the epitome of an intelligence official cannot be attractive?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No, folks, I\u2019m not &#8212; I totally understand the snark in the email. I kind of did step into that \u2019cause I was just being my regular-guy self here without any concerns for political correctness. I did ask him. We read the Vince Flynn books, you get to know Vince Flynn, you ask him about the characters, and Irene Kennedy is brilliant, she\u2019s a boss. Vince Flynn looks up to here. It\u2019s natural to ask, is she a looker? She\u2019s a character in a book.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no picture there. I\u2019m asking the author, what does she look like? I chose to ask, &#8220;Is she a looker?&#8221; Guys talk that way. I\u2019m sorry, ladies, we talk this way. And you better be glad that we do. It\u2019s what makes babies. Well, it is. I\u2019m sorry. My dad told me that, and I thought, &#8220;What are you talking about?&#8221; It\u2019s right. Anyway, I did not mean to imply that professional women cannot be attractive, nor did I mean to infer from Vince\u2019s answer that.<\/p>\n<p>It was about this particular character, and that\u2019s how he chose to describe her to me. She is. She\u2019s a looker in the movie. She\u2019s African-American. She is the boss. She\u2019s the boss of a black ops unit, is what she is. She\u2019s not the CIA director. Later on in the book she becomes the CIA director. She\u2019s not in the early stages. But she runs the black ops unit, which Mitch is the predominant member of. And that\u2019s who he loves and respects and admires. And it\u2019s to the CIA director that Irene Kennedy goes to not ask, but to tell him what the black ops people are doing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH: I did ask him.
