RUSH: The Clinton campaign, the Hillary Clinton campaign is raising questions publicly about the Muslim background of Barack Hussein Obama. Now, don\u2019t be fooled by this. Folks, I think I figured out what this Obama thing is all about. I mean, this is a pretty good possibility. I haven\u2019t nailed this or etched it in stone. It\u2019s a pretty good possibility. I think what\u2019s happening here is that the Drive-By Media and the Democrats — basically the media, the Hillary people as well — are content right now to let Obama be the front-runner, because Hillary needs to prove that she can surge. She needs to prove that she can overcome opposition, that she can overcome adversity. <\/line>Front-runners sometimes win, but it\u2019s rare. The first out of the gate in politics, the presumed conventional wisdom winner seldom ends up that way. There are exceptions, but most of the time not. If Hillary appears to be shockingly in second or third place, well, we can\u2019t believe this, look how bad she\u2019s doing in Iowa, look how bad she\u2019s doing in New Hampshire, and then all of a sudden she surges back. Then that will make her look like a proven candidate, a big winner, and I think that\u2019s what the media is doing by building Obama up, is giving her something to overcome. I do think by the time this Muslim stuff gets out there, and whatever they do at the Clinton campaign to take Hillary out will be made to look like the Republicans did it before it\u2019s all said and done.<\/line><\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line>I have a question. We\u2019ve all seen this story<\/a>. ?Are the American people ready for an elected president who was educated in a Madrassa as a young boy and has not been forthcoming about his Muslim heritage? This is the question Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton?s camp is asking about Sen. Barack Obama.? This is Insight Magazine<\/a>. ?An investigation of Mr. Obama by political opponents within the Democratic Party has discovered that Mr. Obama was raised as a Muslim by his stepfather in Indonesia. Sources close to the background check, which has not yet been released, said Mr. Obama, 45, spent at least four years in a so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia. ?He was a Muslim, but he concealed it,? the source said. ?His opponents within the Democrats hope this will become a major issue in the campaign.?? This is leaking out there. <\/line>It\u2019s been out there for quite a while, and now Insight says that Hillary\u2019s team is doing some of the opposition research, trying to find out about this. My question is this. Does anybody know whether Obama ever kissed the wife of Yasser Arafat like Hillary did? If we\u2019re looking here to Muslim ties, she\u2019s not clean and pure as the wind-driven snow on this. <\/line><\/p>\n
