I\u2019ll have to dig this out if any of you people refuse to believe me on this. Do you know how many deaths there are in this country because pharmacists can\u2019t read a doctor\u2019s prescription and prescribe the wrong medicine? <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/truth_detector.Par.0002.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"175\" height=\"131\" class=\"alignright\"\/> Seven thousand! That\u2019s what this story says. I\u2019m going to find this: 7,000 a year die in this country because they\u2019re prescribed the wrong medicine because pharmacists can\u2019t read the chicken scrawling of most of these doctors out there. That\u2019s why, by the way, there\u2019s an effort underway to make sure doctors have a stylus, like a Treo, e-mail the prescription and have paper backup so that they can get the right medicine and so forth, because some of these doctors, you can\u2019t read what they wrote. I\u2019ve looked at prescriptions, I\u2019ve gotten some, where I look at it and say, &#8220;What is this?&#8221; The pharmacist never had a doubt. &#8220;Oh, I understand this.&#8221; I was lucky. I\u2019m still alive. Seven thousand a year, and we\u2019re counting soldier deaths in ones and twos. We\u2019ve got 3,000 in, what, three years, in Iraq! There\u2019s no sense of proportion in any of this &#8212; by design, and on purpose. <\/line><BR\/>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line><BR\/>It\u2019s in TIME Magazine, this week\u2019s issue. Actually, it might have been last week. It\u2019s the January 15th issue. I don\u2019t know how they date these things anymore. Anyway: &#8220;Cause of Death: Sloppy Doctors &#8212; Doctors\u2019 sloppy handwriting kills more than 7,000 people annually. It\u2019s a shocking statistic, and, according to a July 2006 report from the National Academies of Science\u2019s Institute of Medicine (IOM), preventable medication mistakes also injure more than 1.5 million Americans annually.&#8221; So 7,000 die; one and a half million are injured every year. &#8220;&#8221;Many such errors result from unclear abbreviations and dosage indications and illegible writing on some of the 3.2 billion prescriptions written in the U.S. every year.&#8221;<\/line><BR\/>Now, where are the hearings? Where\u2019s Senator Hagel demanding a resolution here that this end? &#8212; and get this. Just posted on the Drudge Report, this little tease.
