RUSH: Well, get this, folks. A news alert just hit me here: “The GOP health care effort has suffered another setback as three Republican senators have now come out against McConnell\u2019s repeal-only idea.” Yep, I\u2019m getting it on my watch. I just got the alert on my Apple Watch. (interruption) Yes. You saw me reading the watch. It\u2019s right there. (interruption) Wait a minute, now! Forget the watch! Three Republican senators have already come out and said, “We\u2019re not gonna vote to repeal this thing. Repeal only? We\u2019re not gonna do it.” I don\u2019t have the names yet.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just the alert. (interruption) Well, it has to be Murkowski and Collins. Look, it has to be Murkowski and Collins and maybe the other Republican woman in there. I\u2019ve got a story coming. There\u2019s a story at TheWeek.com, the website. I\u2019ve got it here. “Why the GOP Congress Will Be the Most Unproductive in 164 Years.” It\u2019s a fairly leftist piece, but it\u2019s got some salient points to it, and I will share those with you when I get to this, hopefully in this half hour. Certainly before the end of the program. They don\u2019t want to do this!<\/p>\n

\"\"This, to me, is abundantly clear. They don\u2019t want to repeal it. Remember, folks, every one of these Republicans sees the world through the eyes of the left. Every one of these Washington people. They don\u2019t see it through the prism of their own principles and beliefs. They see the world through the eyes of the left. They see the media criticism that will be forthcoming. They see the newspaper headlines. They see what\u2019s gonna be said about them on CNN and New York Times. That\u2019s what they see. That\u2019s their world. They see it through the eyes of the left.<\/p>\n

You and I don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why there\u2019s a disconnect between us and the people we vote for.<\/p>\n

Once they get there, they see everything through the eyes of the people that run that town. So Trump may have even known this was gonna happen a half hour ago when he said, “I\u2019m gonna sit back; I\u2019m gonna let it fail. I\u2019m gonna let it implode. Whatever pain happens, I\u2019m not owning it.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ashland, Kentucky, next. This is Laura. It\u2019s great to have you here. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Can\u2019t believe I\u2019m talking to you. But, anyway, this morning I was thinking of a word picture, and it so happens you are talking about the exact thing I was thinking about, \u2019cause I was so mad when I heard we\u2019re not repealing Obamacare. They can\u2019t get it done. And here\u2019s what it looks like to me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ah, ah, ah, “don\u2019t want to get it done.” That\u2019s really what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But here\u2019s the bad part about it. It\u2019s like America had a problem, we have 300 million people in America, most of us had insurance, most of us had jobs, most of us were able to buy our groceries and do things with the money we made from our jobs. And then somebody goes to the doctor called Congress or the United States government and says, “Oh, 23 million of us, or 30 million of us don\u2019t have insurance,” which meant 270 million of us did. In order to fix those people with the minor problems, because believe you me, they could get insurance. They could go see a doctor. They could get pro bono work. They could get charity work from an agency. They could get care if they desperately need it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The fact of the matter, it was never 23 or 30 million. It was 12 million uninsured.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. And so say this patient called America supposedly, I don\u2019t know that we do go to Congress and say “fix it,” but suppose America did go to the doctor and I say, “Hey, I\u2019ve got a splinter in my finger,” and they prescribe this big regimen or drug called Obamacare, which is gonna take care of your splinter, or take care of your earache. But suddenly your ear falls off, suddenly your arm falls off, suddenly you can\u2019t walk, you can\u2019t breathe, you can\u2019t get out of bed, and the patient is dying, the doctor\u2019s looking at America —<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: Well, Obamacare accommodated for that, is gonna give you a pill to make you feel better while you die.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah, right. But I think that\u2019s unconscionable for a doctor, if a doctor knew his patient had walked in with a minor issue and he had prescribed for them something way over the top —<\/p>\n

RUSH: We have been blessed today with really good callers. Yours is an excellent point, too, that I want to expand on because I\u2019m out of time now, but she framed this in a very simple, accurate, understandable way. Now, when you said back in 2008 and 2009 that we had our jobs, we had our health care, 270 million, whatever, it was affordable, we had disposable income. Not altogether true, but I get your point.<\/p>\n

We were moderately okay. There was not a disaster, there was not a calamity, and yet we had emergency surgery for something we didn\u2019t need, and now the entire patient is terminal. It\u2019s a good analogy. We\u2019ll be back here. I gotta take a break.<\/p>\n

Every campaign year they promised to do it for real if they\u2019re given the House, then given the Senate, then given the White House. They\u2019re given all three and now can\u2019t repeal Obamacare, won\u2019t repeal Obamacare. What\u2019s the point of voting Republican? Do these people know what is going to become of their party if this actually happens?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s McConnell. This is after the three Republican senators have said they will not vote for a flat, straight, nothing but repeal of Obamacare. Mitch McConnell just moments ago on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n

\"\"MCCONNELL: Sometime in the near future we\u2019ll have a vote on repealing Obamacare, essentially the same vote that we had in 2015. I would remind everyone that in that proposal there\u2019s a two-year delay, a two-year delay which would give us the opportunity to work out a complete replacement on a bipartisan basis with our Democratic friends.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, right, Democratic friends. You know, I cringe every time these people say, “our Democratic friends.” Chuck Schumer, if he is your friend, it\u2019s a problem. I mean, it shouldn\u2019t be, but we know it is. Does Mitch know that Murkowski, Capito, and Collins have already said that they\u2019re not gonna vote for this? (interruption) Are you sure? Well, I know it was in the news, but that kills it, three female senators kills the repeal.<\/p>\n

And yet he goes out and says we\u2019re gonna bring it up for a vote. We\u2019re gonna repeal it, and part of that vote, a two-year delay on the replacement, two years to come up with a replacement for Obamacare. Fine. Fine. You know what I keep circling back to?
