Politico\u2019s writers were beside themselves with happiness. Finally they were gonna cream Trump.<\/p>\n
Ossoff was buoyed by record fundraising, tens of millions of dollars poured in from all over the country. His big lead in this poll, which was commissioned by the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation, put him in the catbird seat. An average of all the public polls showed the Republican, Karen Handel, losing by four.<\/p>\n
And then there was the Trump factor. Political consultants said that Trump\u2019s \u201cunpopularity\u201d in the district was badly hurting Handel and would hurt any other Republican running in a similar district. Politico said that these were affluent and well-educated, not the kind of people to support Trump or Republicans. The Pajama Boy was, according to the polling, going to 13 to 15 percent of the Republican vote.<\/p>\n
Democrats lost three special elections before this one. They claimed victory after every one, but in Georgia Ossoff was gonna blow it out. Handel was toast.<\/p>\n
