\"\"RUSH: Yesterday I had it in the Stack. David Brooks! The left is on its way to losing David Brooks. David Brooks said he is beginning to be uncomfortable with the lack of evidence that Trump colluded with Russia. Now, don\u2019t misunderstand. David Brooks is not a harbinger. What David… It\u2019s just that he is so anti-Trump. He is a major, major Never Trumpist, Never Trumper and has thrown in with the left ever since conservative media came along and illustrated that Brooks is not a conservative.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s been called a conservative all these years, but we kind of exposed that he\u2019s not one. So he\u2019s a New York Times columnist, but he\u2019s losing his ability to stay signed up on this whole Russia-Trump collusion theory. When the left starts losing people like Brooks, who they heavily depend on… He\u2019s supposedly a conservative, you see. He\u2019s supposed to be a Republican, at least, if not a conservative. So we\u2019ve got the audio sound bites. He\u2019s written a whole column about it.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We go to Landing, New Jersey. John, great to have you. How are you doing, sir?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Very good. It\u2019s great to talk to you, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I\u2019ve been looking at the Democrats attacking and the news media attacking Trump over and over and over again, and I think they\u2019re shooting themselves in the foot. Because come the next election, they\u2019re gonna elect such a liberal, out-of-the-mainstream candidate that they\u2019re just gonna get killed.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: Well, you know, you may have a point. Here\u2019s what happens. The left lives in its own world. They construct their own reality. They genuinely do, folks. And then what they try to do is treat their reality — I\u2019m talking about the media, now — they treat their reality as the nation\u2019s reality. And so their perspective on everything is their own dominance, their own correctness. <\/p>\n

So if they think and report that Trump is a deranged, dangerous, bullying pig, then they think the whole country thinks the same. They tell themselves that. They live in this constructed reality where everybody, everybody that they care about, all the responsible people in the country think as they do. In this way, it\u2019s how they get shocked that Hillary lost. In their world, that just wasn\u2019t possible. <\/p>\n

And they create these worlds for themselves, and they put everybody else in America in that world, and they assume that everybody not in it is the deranged, loony, right-wing minority. So they\u2019re doing it now. They have convinced themselves that everybody in America hates Donald Trump. That everybody in America looks at Trump as a pig and as a barbarian and is unqualified, unjustified, illegitimate, and should not have been elected. <\/p>\n

And they also tell themselves now that despite there\u2019s no evidence of collusion, they believe there is. They are convinced that there is so that when somebody like David Brooks comes along says, “You know what? I\u2019m not comfortable with this anymore. I don\u2019t see –” It shocks them. They build all of these lies. They construct all of these phony scenarios, and all of them are constructed, by the way, in this current circumstance to help them avoid actually explaining why they lost. <\/p>\n

It can never be their fault. It can never be their policies. It can never be their candidates. So it has to be something else. In this case, Russia colluding with Trump to steal the election, hacking Democrats, Podesta, the DNC computers. You know the drill. The danger is just as John says here, they end up believing this. And the real pitfall comes when they assume all of America, certainly a voting majority, agree with them. <\/p>\n

So their answer is a wacko candidate, a wacko, lunatic candidate. And a wacko, lunatic, leftist candidate is going to be rejected. An incompetent one is going to be rejected, like Hillary was. So I think John\u2019s got a point. The longer they stay immersed in this, the more of a fringe, way, way out of the mainstream candidate is gonna end up being nominated by Democrats, winning their primaries or whatever, unless they rig another primary election for somebody. <\/p>\n

But in this way I think they demonstrate how it is they who are way out of the mainstream and way out of touch with a majority of people in the country. You look at this runoff election in Georgia, Ossoff, it would take two hours to walk from Ossoff\u2019s house to the district that he is seeking to represent, two hours to walk there.
