<\/a>CILLIZZA: Circle June 20th on your calendar! That is the Georgia 6 special election. This is Jon Ossoff, the Democrat, against Karen Handel, the Republican. You say, Why does it matter?” It matters because if Ossoff, the Democrat, wins —<\/p>\nBOLDUAN: Interesting!<\/p>\n
CILLIZZA: — in a northern Atlanta suburban district, it will panic Republican members of Congress, because that is a seat Republicans should win. Donald Trump won it narrowly, but Republicans should win there. If the Republican loses, I think you will see a lot of concern about, “Donald Trump is going to drag us all down,” and that\u2019s when I think you will start to see maybe some independence asserted.<\/p>\n
RUSH: What he\u2019s alluding to is that this election, if Ossoff wins this, that it will further the need for an independent counsel. One election in one district in Georgia will mean that. And when we get to the special election in May on the 25th — 10 days from now, Montana — it\u2019ll mean whatever is big right before that with the Drive-Bys. It\u2019s just incredible. They assign all of these meanings to these elections based on what they want to be able to report after the Democrat wins. But the Democrats are not winning elections.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m not… My guess is they\u2019re gonna lose these two as well. Because the Democrats are still not being honest with themselves about what happened to them. You know, a lot of people voted for Trump knowing full well what the baggage was. They didn\u2019t care. The Trump election was, in fact, about issues. It was dead-set on issues, and this is what the media refuses to understand. They know it; they just don\u2019t want to believe it, and they don\u2019t want to acknowledge it. They think that it was an election about Hillary being a rotten candidate.<\/p>\n
It was an election about stupid people voting. It was an election about bigots prevailing or what have you. They have no idea that it was their agenda that was sent packing. They have no idea that it was Obama\u2019s legacy that was sent packing. They will never admit this to themselves since their effort here is to protect and preserve the Obama legacy and to prevent any of it from being unraveled. How could they preserve Obama\u2019s legacy if more and more of it becomes undone by Republican action on Capitol Hill and by virtue of Trump?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (garbled cell) I\u2019m calling because I\u2019m in the 6th congressional district of Georgia, and seeing firsthand the commercials for Jon Ossoff (unintelligible) and at the very, very beginning they had some commercials that were, “Hold Trump accountable if he embarrasses us,” something that identified him as a Democrat. But in recent months, it\u2019s been nothing but he respects our money. He will bring jobs to the area. He\u2019s running… Essentially, if you didn\u2019t look — if you closed your eyes and didn\u2019t look — you\u2019d think that he\u2019s running as a Republican. And then the ad campaign against Karen Handel, who\u2019s, you know, also in the running. Everything about it is about how she is wasteful of money. So they\u2019re essentially (unintelligible) running a Republican against a Democrat, but they\u2019re flipping the names.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You know, I didn\u2019t know that. I hadn\u2019t yet taken the time to learn what\u2019s going on in that campaign. But this doesn\u2019t surprise me. It\u2019s a local election, a district congressional election. The Democrats are losing. And look, folks, I don\u2019t mean to beat a dead horse here. I\u2019m not doing anything other than pointing out what\u2019s actually factually happening. I\u2019m not drawing any inferences from it. The Democrats are actually losing as themselves. They are losing elections if they are honest about what they want to do. It doesn\u2019t surprise me at all that Ossoff would be running around…<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a Newt Gingrich district, for crying out loud. Now, it\u2019s not the same makeup as when Mr. Newt was being elected there, but it\u2019s still a conservative district. It doesn\u2019t surprise me at all that this guy would be running around trying to make people think that he\u2019s fiscally responsible and not a Democrat in that regard. And in that district, he could probably do it with not too much hassle because I doubt that there\u2019s…<\/p>\n
The majority of the district there is not gonna be rabid leftists who would consider him a traitor. They\u2019re fine. All they care about is him winning the election. They don\u2019t even care about this guy, folks. I mean, he\u2019s the Pajama Boy. What they want is to be able to define what the election means if he wins. So they\u2019re gonna say that this election is a referendum, say, on Comey\u2019s being fired or a referendum on the Russian-Trump collusion or what have you.<\/p>\n
