RUSH: Now I want to go to the audio sound bites, and, Mr. Broadcast Engineer, we\u2019re gonna start at the top. It was back in March. It was on March 29th this year that I announced a new theory<\/a> — and, to wit, this is what I said…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>RUSH ARCHIVE: Who\u2019s really an arm of who? Is the media really an arm of the Democrat Party or is the Democrat Party an arm of the media? I\u2019ve been pondering this, ladies and gentlemen, and I actually think you could make the case that the Democrats are incidental to the media.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The point being that everybody thinks the Democrats run the show. The Democrats are the power in Washington, they hold elective office, and the media operates in a supporting role to bolster them, to prop them up, to encourage them to go out and attack their opponents. And it suddenly — and I don\u2019t know what caused this to happen. It hit me that it\u2019s the other way around now. I mean, the Democrats are losing elections. Now, don\u2019t get mad at me. This is undeniable. Democrats are losing elections, but you would not know it.<\/p>\n

That fact simply isn\u2019t reflected in our modern news political coverage. If you didn\u2019t know any better, if you just landed from Mars, you would think that there has been a coup and that a couple Republicans took over the country led by Donald Trump and they\u2019re running it against the public will. And that the mass majority of the people are still in favor of Democrats, still wish Obama was president or wish Hillary was and that what we have here is an illegitimate governing minority. You would never know that the Democrats have been losing elections dramatically since 2010.<\/p>\n

And that, to me, says that it is the media running the Democrats and not Democrats running the media, because there is simply no reflection of that reality in any of daily what is called news. And it actually isn\u2019t news. What it is is the onward march of the leftist progressive agenda as led by the media. The Democrats take their talking points from the media. The Democrats take their talking points and their message from the media. We\u2019ve always thought for the longest time that it was Democrats, like Harry Reid or Pelosi, giving phrases and words and ideas to the media, and that they ran with it.<\/p>\n

I think it\u2019s the other way around now, and I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any doubt about this. And it\u2019s proven again by one salient fact: Democrats are losing elections. They have lost… They have less power, electoral power in Washington than they\u2019ve had since the 1920s. Yet no such reality is ever seen. No such reality is ever acknowledged. In fact, it\u2019s just the opposite. So it\u2019s the media running the show. So I thought we\u2019d put together some sound bites as an illustration, as an example. Cookie found a couple things here that fit the theorem. We go back to Thursday afternoon. CNN special coverage of the passage in the House of the Obamacare repeal-and-replace bill. In the math here, the CNN anchor Jake Tapper is speaking with former Obama White House senior adviser David Axelrod about the bill.<\/p>\n

TAPPER: You used to make, uhh, political TV ads, uhhh, for a living. Um, give me what you think based on what just happened, is the prototypical Democratic attack ad against the Republican who just voted for this bill. How is this going to be cast in front of voters in, say, a swing district?<\/p>\n

AXELROD: Certainly, this issue of preexisting conditions is going to be front and center. There are millions of Americans who are getting money — uh, who are didn\u2019t he go to coverage — through the expansion of Medicaid. Many of the people taking up that coverage are people who are in the Trump base, and so that\u2019s gonna be, uh, part of the advertising that goes into some of these, uh, districts.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: So you see what\u2019s happening here, right after the vote and right after the Trump presser, right after the that little victory party they had up there at the White House, CNN began the process of writing ads for the Democrats. Jake Tapper brings in Axelrod. “So what\u2019s your ad gonna be? I mean, you guys make political ads for a living. Give me what you think based on what just happened, is the prototypical Democrat attack ad against a Republican who just voted for the bill? How\u2019s this gonna be cast…?”<\/p>\n

So the idea and the premise of the Democrats coming out with TV attack ads gets started on CNN. Later the same afternoon, on CNN\u2019s special coverage — and that\u2019s what it was. They stopped everything to do special coverage of the passage in the House of the beginning phase of removing Obama\u2019s legacy — Wolf Blitzer is speaking with senior political reporter Nia-Malika Henderson about the Republican bill, and Wolf Blitzer says, “The Republicans are making progress on the president\u2019s agenda. President Trump deserves a lot of credit for this initial step.”<\/p>\n

HENDERSON: He promised premiums are going to start to come down. I\u2019m not sure when he means they\u2019re gonna start to come down. And he also said that deductibles will be going down as well. I mean, today you could see, uh, the places where Democrats can make ads out of this event. Sort of them laughing and joking in the celebration.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. So here we have CNN, the discussion of ads at the Democrats need to start putting together in order to counter what the Republicans did in their first phase of repealing Obamacare. Later the same day, still CNN\u2019s special coverage of the passage in the House of the Obamacare repeal-and-replace bill, a coanchorette Brooke Baldwin speaking with CNN political director David Chalian about the bill and they said this to each other…<\/p>\n

BALDWIN: Cut the sound bite and play it over and over and over again how the Democrats are salivating over how they want to cut these ads to swing through in the midterms.<\/p>\n

CHALIAN: Well, it\u2019s just like we\u2019re watching the mirror image of where we were in the fall of 2009 when this vote was taken on the House floor. And Nancy Pelosi with a Democratic controlled House and the Democrats had the Senate and the Democrats had the presidency 00 and they got this through by the skin of their teeth, a two-vote margin. And the Republicans started immediately plotting their path back on this issue.<\/p>\n

RUSH: She says, “Cut the sound bite and play it over and over and over again how the Democrats are salivating over how they want to cut these ads to swing through…” The Democrats aren\u2019t salivating, CNN is! CNN\u2019s salivating over the ads and telling the Democrat guess what they need to do and asking them if they agree with what CNN thinks they ought to do in terms of these ads. So after all of this — and there was more. These are just three salient bites. After CNN\u2019s advice, the Democrats had an ad up and running on Friday. It\u2019s entitled “Disastrous McSally,” focused on representative Martha McSally, Republican, Rhode Island, her vote to repeal Obamacare, and here\u2019s the audio of the ad…<\/p>\n

ANNOUNCER: (melodramatic music) Congresswoman McSally just voted for a disastrous health care repeal bill opposed by the American Medical Association, AARP, and the American Cancer Society. McSally voted to raise your costs and cut coverage for millions, to let insurance companies deny affordable coverage for cancer treatment and maternity care, and charge five times more for people over 50. McSally voted yes even though the coverage makes coverage completely unaffordable to people with preexisting conditions. Congresswoman McSally, how could you do this to us?<\/p>\n
