CALLER: Really well, Rush. I\u2019m a Millennial. I\u2019m getting a master\u2019s degree a Brigham Young University. I\u2019ve listened to you all my life.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you very much. I appreciate hearing that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I love your show. I\u2019ve also watched The O\u2019Reilly Factor most of my life, and the scandal that just happened, it makes me think that from now on any time a man and a woman are together — whether it\u2019s in a business setting, an educational setting or even a religious setting I believe it needs to be filmed and recorded on video just for the protection of the man.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Interesting. Very, very interesting. What about the specifics of this case? Are you buying all of this? Do you think O\u2019Reilly should have been fired or resigned or whatever it is?<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: Of course not! I mean, just as I was reading the articles, I was thinking, “Where did these allegations take place? Was it even in a bar or just, like, after work?” I don\u2019t know. Even from a woman\u2019s perspective, I\u2019m not buying into it at all.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I find this interesting, because the way the media portrays this, once again, we are to believe that women all over this country are outraged and they have had it and they want people like O\u2019Reilly done away with and put in the cemetery. Could you hang on through the break here, Erin?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, of course.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I thought you might, and I appreciate that you will, because I want to explore this further with you about some things that we have learned both in the Census and other data about Millennial women. I want to see if it applies to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Back to Erin. Erin, you\u2019re a grad student, did you say so you\u2019ve got your four-year degree?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I have my four-year degree. I have one more year to have my master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you…? Do you mind if I ask you personal questions? You don\u2019t have to answer them, but I\u2019m just curious.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I\u2019ll answer them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you married?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I\u2019m not.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: Boyfriend?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh, not right now, unfortunately. (giggles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s what we have learned in the last couple days from… Well, one of it\u2019s from Census; the other is… I think it\u2019s a Pew survey of Millennials, and the first one is that more and more Millennial-aged women are ashamed and embarrassed that they earn more than their husbands or boyfriends.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Huh!<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH. You\u2019re laughing at that. Okay, share. What\u2019s your reaction to that? Would you ever…? If you earned more than an eventual boyfriend or husband, would you be ashamed? Would you feel embarrassed?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I wouldn\u2019t be ashamed. Obviously, I\u2019d judge him by how hard he works and a person and, like, his future plan.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. But you don\u2019t… But no matter what… How hard he works is fine. If he didn\u2019t earn what you make, you wouldn\u2019t lose respect for him? You wouldn\u2019t —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Nooooo! That\u2019s ridiculous.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you wouldn\u2019t, therefore, mind being the breadwinner, if that\u2019s what eventuated?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, that\u2019s what we figured out, then, no. I wouldn\u2019t mind it, I guess.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Figured out what? Figured out what?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, family-wize and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: A-ha, that\u2019s it! That\u2019s supposed to —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — take care of our kids —<\/p>\n

RUSH: That is the key to everything. If you\u2019re mad at me when I said… This is the second bit of news. The second bit of news. Actually, there\u2019s three parts. The second bit of news is there are now more Millennial women with college degrees than Millennial men<\/a>. I said to the audience, “Folks, you gotta stop looking at this men-versus-women thing as a ‘versus,\u2019 as a comparison, as a getting even.” That\u2019s not a good bit of news.<\/p>\n

You don\u2019t want that to be the case, and if you care I\u2019ll tell you why later, and I have people emailing me thinking I\u2019m a lug head. I\u2019m a chauvinist. How could I dare think that it\u2019s a bad thing that more Millennial women have college degrees? And there are answers to it but I\u2019m not prepared to give \u2019em yet. I just want to get your feedback on that right now. What\u2019s your reaction to that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think it\u2019s great more women are getting college degrees. I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re not troubled by any aspect of it?<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: No! I think it\u2019s great.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me give you a hypothetical.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think we should get the best education as we can.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What is your graduate study in? What do you want to do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m doing food science. I have a minor in chemistry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Food science, minor in chemistry. Okay. Let\u2019s say you get the education you want.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You come out of there and true to the survey, you get married and you do end up making more than your husband, we\u2019ll assume he gets a degree too. I think you probably… But you make more than he does, but then you and he want to start a family. What happens if the day comes when you decide that you want to spend as much if not more time raising your children than you do working in the area of your education, and then his income becomes primary? What then? Would you —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Then we\u2019d live within our means. I\u2019ve always been a fan of that. I actually do want to be with my kids, so that would be ideal.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019re dealing with profound material here, folks. How old are you? You\u2019re 24, 25?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m 25, yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Twenty-five. You are profound. You are so much… Well, I\u2019ll just say you are profoundly mature. You know how —<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughs) Thank you, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Out of 10 people who would answer that question the way you did there\u2019s probably one or two who\u2019d say, “Oh, we\u2019d live within our means.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughs) My friends always call me “traditional,” but I can pay my own rent. I don\u2019t need my parents to.<\/a> (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, third — and this is the census data. It\u2019s a record number of Millennials either gender living at home with mom and dad. The number is that there are more Millennials 18 to 34 — let\u2019s say 25-34 — living at home with mom and dad then there are Millennials who are married and living with a spouse.<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: Hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hmm. How\u2019s that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, that\u2019s amazing to me. I can\u2019t believe that, actually. I can\u2019t believe their parents would put up with that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey! Amen. Are you sure you\u2019re 25 and not 55?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m promise I\u2019m 25. I have a birth certificate, too. (giggles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: In what state?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Idaho.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Idaho. Cool. Well, you know, this kind of explains it. Idaho, Utah, listening to this program, watching the O\u2019Reilly show.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughs)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Something explains it. Anyway, you great, Erin. I\u2019m really glad that you called. I appreciate you taking the time.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you. I\u2019ve appreciated talking to you. This is probably one of the best moments of my life. (laughs)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, same here. We\u2019ve enjoyed the heck out of it. By the way, do you…? As a grad student I\u2019m sure you\u2019re maxed out on expenses and so forth. Would you like, if you don\u2019t have one, a new iPhone or a new iPad — or if you have an iPhone, would be would you like some of the AirPods that are still available?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (Gasp!) Oh, my goodness, my iPhone 4 just died like a week ago! (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh. iPhone 4. You know, it was great in its day, but it has long been surpassed. Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s what my friends tell me. (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, they\u2019re right. You won\u2019t believe the difference. Here\u2019s what I got. You want the iPhone 7 or the 7 Plus? The 7 is the 4.7-inch screen and the Plus is the 5.5-inch screen.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ll take the 7 Plus.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And what color? They come in two shades of black — jet black and matte black — and then there\u2019s gold, rose gold, silver, and bright red.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wow. I\u2019ll go with the classic gold.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Classic gold. Cool., and I\u2019ll send you some AirPods. Have you seen the…? You probably haven\u2019t seen the AirPods. These are the wireless Bluetooth AirPods. You will not believe it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Awesome!<\/p>\n

RUSH: You can activate Siri with just a double tap on one of the AirPods. You know what\u2019s cool about…? I can\u2019t use them. It really makes me mad. Since I\u2019m deaf and I have other things in my ears, I can\u2019t use \u2019em, but if you\u2019re on the phone with somebody, you can have the ear pods answer the phone. Just tap on it and the phone will answer. You\u2019re talking to them, and somebody approaches you and you want to talk to them, you can… Let\u2019s say you\u2019re listening to music. You tap the AirPods once. It pauses the music and then you talk to your friend or whatever. When conversation is over, tap the AirPod back once; the music resumes. It\u2019s just amazing. These things are so popular, it still takes you six weeks to get them when you go in and ask for a pair.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, that sounds awesome, Rush!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you deserve it. You\u2019ve earned it. This has been a great performance of yours today.<\/p>\n
