They\u2019re furious at \u201csignals\u201d they\u2019re getting from the Trump Administration that Obama\u2019s climate change legacy is being dismantled.<\/p>\n
Last week, the President ordered his EPA chief, Scott Pruitt, to revise Obama\u2019s tailpipe emissions regulations. I wonder about Obama\u2019s tailpipe a lot. And the White House budget outline cuts EPA funding by 31%. That\u2019s more than any other agency.<\/p>\n
The EPA\u2019s so-called \u201cClean Power Plan\u201d is also in Trump\u2019s crosshairs. That\u2019s the Obama rule that shuts down existing coal-fired power plants, and freezes construction on new ones. Obama called for replacing them with wind and solar farms. His agenda, obviously, was to bankrupt the coal industry. Trump\u2019s agenda is to breathe new life into it.<\/p>\n
But the biggest \u201csignal\u201d that things have changed was at a recent White House briefing when budget director Mick Mulvaney said to reporters: \u201cAs to climate change, I think the president was fairly straightforward: We\u2019re not spending money on that anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wrong. We never promised to do any of this. Our Congress and our people were ignored for eight years. These were all Obama\u2019s climate change promises. Now he\u2019s gone. That\u2019s the signal all of you people need to get.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
