Did you<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2017\/03\/line-see-president-trump-mile-long-nashville-tn-photos\/\"> see pictures<\/a> of this last night from outside? Every time Trump&#8230; He\u2019s gonna do this every two weeks now, he says. He went to Nashville and he had a campaign rally. Of course the Drive-Bys were saying, &#8220;We\u2019ve been there; done that. This is a campaign rally! This sounded like Trump before the election.&#8221; Some of the people said after the rally, &#8220;Well, doesn\u2019t the president know he won? He\u2019s still talking about things he\u2019s gonna do. Hey, you\u2019ve been in office 50 days. Why don\u2019t you start talking about the things you have done?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x2hzpyy4X1s\" width=\"650\" height=\"405\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nWell, he does that, but they lampoon it and they make fun of it. But it was not a warm day yesterday in Nashville. It was chilly. There were people who waited five hours in line outside to get in. The place was jam-packed except for portions of the upper deck, which were probably deemed to be security problems and not a good vantage point anyway. Lines of people outside. When you see a crowd like this assemble &#8212; just assembled &#8212; and then you look at the crowd as the event\u2019s taking place, and then you look at a presidential approval number, you say, &#8220;Something doesn\u2019t match up here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now, I will admit: If Trump went to California and did a rally, who knows? Depending on where it is, there might not be a crowd, and you could draw inferences from the lack of enthusiasm to a presidential approval number. But in terms of polling data, you know, Fox News has a poll out and they\u2019re ballyhooing this thing out the wazoo and they\u2019re pointing out that the approval numbers for the president continue to fall, that he started&#8230; The first presidential approval number, Trump had the lowest first approval number in the history of polling presidents, and it\u2019s gone down since then.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s had a couple of bumps, but it started&#8230; He had a 50%, 51%. Now he\u2019s at 45, 46%, and maybe 40%, between 40, 45%. I haven\u2019t seen exact number in the Fox poll. In the same poll, however, the percentage of people who think the economy\u2019s going great and is improving is gangbusters. So it is yet another bit of polling data that is a new trend, that the economic performance of the country &#8212; the perceived economic performance, \u2019cause that\u2019s all a poll on the economy is. You know, &#8220;What\u2019s your perception of the economy? How do you think the economy is doing? Is it doing well, not doing well?&#8221; People answer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-225836\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/TRUMP-RALLY.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/TRUMP-RALLY.jpg 594w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/TRUMP-RALLY-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>The perception of the economy is just it\u2019s going gangbusters, and it\u2019s up dramatically since the fourth quarter last year. But yet that does not translate into Trump\u2019s approval numbers, so the trend of economic numbers having no impact on presidential approval is continuing, and it started with Obama. That was the first presidency in my lifetime where back-pocket issues had nothing to do with presidential approval. Obama\u2019s always hovering around 50, 51, 48%. The economy was in the tank! Well, now in the case of Obama, I always chalked it up to &#8212; once again &#8212; the racial component, the Bradley Effect.<\/p>\n<p>Or the Wilder Effect, depending on which black politician effect you wish to cite. But it\u2019s basically a pollster shows up and asks you what you think of a black politician and you say, &#8220;Love the guy! Love the guy!&#8221; when you don\u2019t and you don\u2019t vote for him to avoid being tagged a racist by the pollster. So the economy with Obama was forever&#8230; If it was anything &#8212; the best it was &#8212; it was a straight line. For the most part our economy was laggard and malaise and declining and part-time jobs only and more and more people not working. This economy is burgeoning, it is expanding, it\u2019s growing.<\/p>\n<p>There are legitimate new jobs. It\u2019s reflected in this polling data. But Trump\u2019s not getting any credit for it. At least in these presidential approval numbers. I know what you\u2019re saying. &#8220;Well, Rush, I don\u2019t believe the numbers. I just don\u2019t believe them.&#8221; Fine. You\u2019re free to not believe the numbers.
